South Africa finish Day 1 at 82/3 after Pakistan posted 211 in the first innings of the first Test match

What did I tell you guys? Pakistan will make a hero out of Bosch. And that is exactly what they did. Pakistan love kick-starting the careers of new players.

No taking anything away from Corbin Bosch, but against a solid batting lineup, he'd probably come across as pretty average.

Embarrassing dismissal from Babar. His days in tests cricket are numbered. He should be in his prime but he's struggling to make the team on merit.

What would Babar Azam’s true average he had Pakistan not doctored flat pitches at home?

Probably 33-35?

Very disingenuous commentary by this Saffer guy. Short , accurate trundlers should be rushed at not played from the crease

Why? Only a matter of time before you get a ball with your name on it. Better to get some runs on the board before you eventually lose your wicket
Eh? That statement is only true if there is variable bounce. This is a genuine pitch. Going at 2-3 rpo is absolutely fine. There is no need to gift wickets by going hard at the ball. Shan and Saim played exactly the right way for the first 10 overs. Since then they’ve tried to be too attacking and suffered.

Good stuff from Rizkam. They both need to be playing like the way they are playing..No need to be a kitten

It's often applicable even on pitches with high seam movement and this pitch has quite a bit

It was always a tall ask for our batsmen to cope with the red ball in south africa.

For me you play your shots and try to get minimum 200 on the board your not gonna post big scores on this wicket.

There is plenty of seam movement that is challenging the outside edge. Batters are getting unplayable deliveries fairly consistently. They need to be more careful but being positive is not the worst idea on a pitch like this.

Shakeel is the only one who tried to be too attacking and suffered. Two were soft dismissals. One was an unplayable delivery.

Babar Akmal's was on 8th stump

As test batters they ought to handle seam but SAF are wayward also. The hallmark of good test players is shot selection and patience but these fools are just too adventurous and gifting their wickets like they are playing ODI. This was my biggest fear before the match.
