After a thrilling win in the 1st ODI, Pakistan has regained its confidence and will aim to win the series after losing the T20I series to South Africa.

On the other hand, this ODI defeat will raise questions for South Africa about their current standing as they prepare for the Champions Trophy, where they will look to fine-tune their preparations for the mega event.

The 2nd ODI will be played in Cape Town, where South Africa has an impressive record, making it a tough challenge for Pakistan. However, Pakistan will be riding high on confidence and will look to crush the hosts' hopes of a comeback in the series.

Great win. All hail to Saim who proved his critics wrong. I hope we can kick out Abdullah in this game. Let Usman play instead of him. He can open? How bad can he be???

Dont know about the pitch, is there an ideal replacement for Shafiq in 15, lets go unchanged

Why not Usman? Did you saw how Abdullah got out??? This guy is not fit to play in these conditions, has technical issues. Should be set packing.

Tayyab for Niazi
Usman Khan for Abdullah Shafique and promote kamran ghulam as opener
Sufiyan for useless abrar, although sufiyan isn't that great. Would have been better to have faisal akram who I believe is a better bowler.

Abrar useless ??? HOW why???

You said he is useless but he dominated south africa so far most of the times. They struggled against him.
He got tonked yesterday.

Different formats brother. In t20 you can dominate even if you aren't a good bowler by exploiting some areas since batters have to go at you.

Its why Rauf and abrar are effective. Odi and test is different. Test forces bowlers to earn their wicket and in odi, while not as harsh as test you need to have better line and length, patience, consistency and keep the pressure up.

This 60kph woman cricketer speed bowler is harmless in odi and test unless your a tail ender.

I think Saim played very mature inning. He is in form of his life. Performing in Australian and southafrica conditions is not a small thing for an asian player.

Given that I haven't seen much of Irfan Khan, but from what I have seen, he appears to be leg side player which imo is a huge red flag. His leg-side flicks were impressive in last T20 game, but he doesn't seem to be a 360-degree batsman. Even today, he got out trying to clip the ball to a leg-side to a fullish straight ball. Let's hope I'm wrong about this but something to keep an eye on.

Abrar did bowl well in the first ODI?

I would drop Shaheen for being so irresponsible in the first ODI.

Bilateral ODI series win is not as important as sending a message to our so called seniors.

Usman should be picked for remaining matches to close his chapter for good. Niazi should he kicked out , can't really take a spot just because he is a good fielder.

Abdullah Out Usman In
Niazi Out Tayyab In

In long run , would like to see Fakhar instead of Abdullah, Haris instead of Niazi and Sufyan/Arafat instead of Abrar. Rizwan to bat at 5 and KG at 4

Abdullah Shafique and Kamran Ghulam have no place being in an ODI team.

Pakistan are playing ODI cricket from 1990.

Quite surprising, Pakistan are 1-0 up in an away series one more victory required to clinch the series.

Rizwan dressing room talk after the win was so much contentious , gratitude and believing in achieving everything

It depends.

Look at aus team from 2015.

Warner is your aggressor while finch and Smith take a bit of time with Clarke mostly being another accumulator.

Watson amd maxwell then seals the deal at the lower order.

Odi isn't t20, you need a mix of strikers and accumulator. Kamran ghulam is fine.

What isn't fine is having your openers, no 3, no 4, no 5, no 6 and no 7 all being accumulators.

Abdullah, Babar, Rizwam, Kamran, Agha and Niqzi make for a very 1980 lineup

@mominsaigol looked pretty serious about this.
I dont know if hes trolling or being serious.
Wait when do I ever troll? Abrar performance against England should have shut his case?

Woman speed bowler.

Abrar, Rizwan, Abdullah, chacha, Nawaz and God knows who else The nexus endorses.

Garbage players.

Babar is the only one I tolerate IN ODI ONLY due to past performances since people don't remember that he has also scored centuries against full strength aus, Eng, NZ and SA.

But yes those 5 cemturies vs wi, 2 vs Zimb, 1 vs Nepal and more vs c string nz, aus and sa have inflated his stats i agree.

But in his prime without these filters he's still a 40 avg 80 sr batter with 6 centuries against main string attacks.

He's only a has-been now. The rest are rubbish players.

We are not on about tests we are on about odis.

Unless some extra ordinary SSA reverse spin occurs again
It depends on alot of factors my dude.

Problem with Pakistan is that Abdullah, Babar, and rizwan are useless. And kamran ghulam is a run out machine.

Saim or bust + Spin or bust for now. Otherwise sa will demolish Pakistan.

@gazza619 already made a thread. Way too many passengers in the side.

The moment saim/agha fails or the spinners dont do damage, Pakistan loses badly.

Pacers + Every other batters is useless.

In my opinion we should keep Abdullah - he did very well in 2nd and 3rd ODI vs Australia. We have to give these players chances
Chasing 140 and 200? He's a bunny batting first and won't chase down anything > 250 to 260.

That sri lanka game in wc was a once in a blue moon miracle.

Shafique is a walking wicket. He's a confidence player much like Hafeez was for the majority of his career and when he's not in the right headspace it's ugly. This is where PCB let our players down by not having a sports psychologist on hand. Either way he shouldn't be opening.

Abrar keeps getting touted as mystery spinner but I don't quite see the mystery? He's ok but hugely over rated.
I do think we are missing a trick by not having Sajid Khan as our all format spinner. He brings so much in terms of spirit which adds to his value in the side. After the England series he would have been my number 1 pick for the white and red ball hands down.
