You can understand why people were unhappy. He was rubbish in t20 for a while. Last game was his first solid t20 knock, and in test he hasn't produced a good knock.

However tbf to saim, when he first appeared in the domestic circuit, he struggled for a year before becoming a domestic goat.

He seems to be the type to take a year to adjust to something new before kicking off.

Those genuine critics of Saim don't know cricket. It has been blatantly obvious for a long time that this kid is different, he has a bat flow unlike any other in Pakistan, natural timing and stroke making ability all around the ground and a decent temperament to boot.

Even with all his failures in T20s it was obvious it was a matter of time he would deliver. Some players you just know. I have 0 doubt in my mind someone like Imran would have kept backing someone like him even after his failures.
