Pakistan (144/3) stroll to a 7-wicket triumph in 3rd ODI to seal series 2-1 against South Africa (143)

Rizwan looks upset because he won’t have enough to score a 50 here and then do his cringe celebration

Saim has been struggling a little bit as well, but playing positive cricket. Rizwan needs to attack before causing a collapse.

Nice to see Pakistan flip the script and dominate SA after last match. Heck of a spell from Abrar to help seal this for Pakistan.

I am seething seeing Talat in the playing eleven though. Why does this scrub keep getting chances. A total useless player who doesn't warrant a spot whatsoever.

South African captain has issues against spin clearly. He was clueless. Other youngsters are fine. Was Brevis injured? He needs a lot of exposure.

Im surprised this is the first time pakistan have won the series against South Africa at home . This was a very clinical performance by Pakistan team..they have a good series won the both T20 and ODIs while test series drawn .. Im still trying to figure out why SA decide to bat first considering they chased comprehensively last match.

Rizwan deserves Superman of the series for pulling himself up having declined central contract, and fighting for pakistan with his sr of 70….

What a fighter!

@Rana

I found the discussion on US cricket hilarious.

You struck gold with Major’s reading of the situation akin to Misbah’s reading of Joginder.

Made my day bro.

Surprised by Pakistan’s win in both T20 and ODI series, as SENA teams should beat us comfortably even with their domestic teams.

Can Indian fans objectively tell me why a SENA country failed to do that?

This could have been an exceptional tour win for Pakistan if they didn't allow SA tail enders to score like 200 runs in the 2nd Test and gave away a match that should have been won.

Nonetheless, a confidence booster for a side that is full out of form players and they have struggled to beat any meaningful side at home.

Babar: 45 runs from 3 games at a strike rate of 79
Rizwan: 91 runs from 3 games at a strike rate of 74

The frauds have been exposed yet again, that too against a depleted SA bowling attack.
Rizwan is a total Fraud at 4. Babar BEHAVES like one at 3. I must admit though, Babar, if had the mental capacity of playing aggressively, could be one of the best middle order bat in the world. He is not a fraud, but due to personal milestones preference, perhaps for his negative approach, can be termed as fraud - I however still believe that he is what we need at 4 in all formats.

Bro pakistan played excellent cricket and beat them with brave calls last game abrar didn't played he came back this match win pakistan a game so shaheen deserved credit he knew south africa weakness is spin which proved to be in end.

Pakistan crush South Africa by 7 wickets to clinch ODI series 2-1 in Faisalabad

Pakistan sealed the three-match ODI series 2-1 with a commanding seven-wicket win over South Africa in the third and final game at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, on Saturday. Spinner Abrar Ahmed led the charge with a sensational spell, while young opener Saim Ayub starred in the chase to complete the job with 149 balls to spare.

Opting to bat first, South Africa looked in control early as openers Quinton de Kock and Lhuan-dre Pretorius added 72 for the first wicket. De Kock, who brought up his 7000th ODI run and later his 50 off 70 balls, once again top-scored with 53. Pretorius contributed 39, but once the pair was dismissed, the innings unraveled spectacularly.

Salman Agha triggered the collapse by removing Pretorius and Tony de Zorzi in quick succession before Abrar Ahmed ripped through the middle order. The leg-spinner struck thrice in two overs, dismissing debutant Rubin Hermann, Donovan Ferreira, and Corbin Bosch, before removing skipper Matthew Breetzke to finish with career-best figures of 4 for 27. Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with 2 for 31, while Shaheen Shah Afridi cleaned up the tail with two wickets in the 38th over as South Africa were bundled out for 143.

In reply, Pakistan suffered an early blow when Fakhar Zaman fell for a two-ball duck to Nandre Burger. But Saim Ayub took charge of the chase with a fluent 77 off 70 balls, striking 11 fours and a six. He shared a 65-run stand with Babar Azam, who scored 27 off 32 balls before being run out. Mohammad Rizwan then steadied the innings with an unbeaten 32 off 45 balls, guiding Pakistan home alongside Agha Salman, who hit the winning boundary.

Pakistan reached the target in just 25.1 overs, finishing at 144 for 3 to secure a convincing series win. Abrar Ahmed was deservedly named Player of the Match for his match-turning spell, while Quinton de Kock was declared Player of the Series for his consistent run-scoring throughout the tour.

If you look at South Africa's middle order and their bowling attack, Pakistan were always going to win. It was always a case of just getting rid of their opening pair (or top 3) and the rest would crumble, which is exactly what happened.

Shaheen Shah Afridi | Pakistan captain:

It's team-work. The lads did a lot of hard work from the Tests till the ODIs, credit to them. We had decided to take the decision after looking at the wicket. The spinners controlled and bowled in good areas. When you play international cricket, you have to be ready for every situation, the T20I series is coming up and we are looking forward to it. We will have to be ready for the next challenge.

Abrar Ahmed | Player of the Match:

I read the pitch and bowled according to the pitch. Did what Rizwan bhai told me. Whatever I learned, I applied it here today. I keep things simple, I don't think much. If you are doing variations, then I need to keep it simple, that's what I did. I'm very happy with this performance and if you perform in a pressure game then it's good.

I checked the score & it was something like 217/7 and they were well behind. Since the match was on a work day I had to be at a meeting and post meeting when I checked again Rabada had 50+ and RSA were well in the lead.

While the white ball wins are good & won't complain that it was RSA C or D but the loss of the test is just not nice. It's a good thing that I'm not emotionally attached to cricket anymore but if I was, it'd keep stinging for so many days & then some more.

Talat should have come in at 4 today, would have given his confidence a huge boost if he had remained not out. This is what all the top teams do, try out different things in real match situations..

Abrar comment about Rizwan guiding would burn just a few on this forum

@Devadwal plz no more pay back 🥺 :kp

This was Pakistan's best home performance in the last 2 years. They dominated.

Test series: 1-1
ODI series: Pakistan won 2-1
T20 series: Pakistan won 2-1

Pathetic batting from South Africa, this was not a fast spinning unplayable minefield, this pitch was similar to the Rawalpindi wicket where the pitch was slow, dry and the spin was manageable.

Pakistan knows that they can't win a match on normal pitch so they back to Turner for ODI as well following the Bangladesh strategy that's too against South Africa D side.

Congratulations for winning the important series.
:kp

I have seen much more difficult rank turners at good pace and carry. This was a much slower pitch with very minimal turn similar to the Rawalpindi pitch where South African batters showed much better application with the bat against Pakistani spinners. They were very poor in this game.

I sincerely pity pak fans. After a drubbing on a batting wicket in second match, pak management reverted to doctored pitches. It reveals 2 things .one is that we are not good to compete with even against a SA c/d side on normal tracks. Other is that we don't want to improve. With this kind of mirpur mentality, pcb and management are making sure to win few junk matches at home and happy to loose all important stuff away.
