That was a fix by PAK senior players to pull Malik down. In that series, 1st game PAK won by 8/9 wickets inside 40 overs, then the next 2 games were complete no show. PCB should have inquired the games. Even after that, against series decider in UAE (NZ), PAK batsmen threw a chase of 220 or so and Amir/Ajmal put almost 100 in last pair to make it really close.
 
Two fielders on leg, for catching, indicating it could be short ball. Thats how you put psychological pressure
 
Guys just seen the score , someone please tell me, is it the pitch? The bowling? Or case of bad shot selection?

but in that new zealand series, that was captained by younis khan

they didn't like younis khan either? lol

Agreed he has changed but he always had a pretty good head and was still that better tactician the Younus ,Yousuf and Afridi.
 
The only way South Africa can win this one is if Faf puts in 4 slips, 2 gullies and asks his bowlers to forget about containing and pitch the ball up.

Even then I'm putting 100 dollars on Pakistan and I suspect I will get a return of 120 dollars.

Indeed - these were the same group under a certain just retired guy who took them to ICL despite knowing that it might end their PAK career, and now holding one of the most critical administrative spots. Otherwise, YK won't have been ousted within few months of winning an ICC event,

Most important thing Malik was cool and calm at the pitch.

Younis i think was a better tactician and more fearless.

Yousuf was the worst.
 
In 2015 when Azhar was recalled and made captain, it could have been Malik or even Hafeez and we could have continued with them till WC

Younis was a mixture of bit of emotions and tactics but Malik never falls for the emotions
 
Shadab with the final wicket! 164 all out on pink day, what a terrific performance in the field by Pakistan. Bowling, Fielding and captaincy has all been excellent. World-class performance.

Malik and Hafeez have been underused and I feel like they under performed in all aspects :/

One of the best captaincy I have seen from Pakistan
 
165 - should be easy. Brilliant bowling performance and catching as well. All 10 wickets to bowlers and some good catching, excellent keeping by Rizwan and exemplary Captaincy by Malik. Series is going to last game.

They are playing home not away. Makes a lot of difference. When Pak were beating Aus and New Z (rain saving them) We were told they are also poor but no word when India beating them.
 
This is the team and the attitude I want to watch irrespective of the results
 
On another note, Shaheen was brilliant with the new ball picking up 2 wickets.

Shinwari brilliant with the old ball cleaning up the tail.

What is Amir's excuse for still not picking up enough wickets? Or perhaps picking up 1 wicket is enough for the expert container.
 
The fact that "Sarfraz" was not playing already ensured that Pakistan were playing with one batsmen extra and were no longer under pressure of listening to "continuous criticism" about where to bowl.

Malik basically had to just show up.

Heck even Hafeez would have done the same thing.
 
Even if Pakistan lose this series they have shown to be much more competitive then previous years.

This shows in some areas we have improved but we still have passengers in the side - a rebuilding process needs to be considered seriously post World cup.

Nevertheless top bowling performance today, led by a fine respected cricketer in Malik.

Pak were beating them in UAE and that too in t20s . India are beating them at their home in odis. Hell of a difference.

Yes, I remember when Shadab was operating. He instead of encouraging him to do what he wants to pick wickets, continuously told him to where to land the ball. While bowling with new ball, a bowler often goes for boundaries, but saifi asked his bowlers to not leak runs, and due to that bowlers started pitching it back of length.

This does save runs, but wickets aren't picked up by bowlers that way when you are looking to save runs. So, this hurts a lot
 
Sorry I don’t rate UKS at all, leaks runs for fun. He did look much better from around the wicket and a decent return after an awful start. Still needs more performances against better batsmen to convince me.

Any news on RR, career over? He looked a better option..

His performance was similar to Wahab's 5 for against India in World Cup.
