South African pacer Duanne Olivier - Performance Watch

From terrorising Pakistani batsmen with vicious pace and bounce to some gentle 125-130kph floaters in just a few years. Wonder what happened.

I guess he left the system that made him for a few bucks and a secure life in England. There is day light between being a SA test cricketer and a county cricketer.

The quality , standards and competiveness of English County cricket has been declining for years .

Azhar mahmood and yasir arafat played for years and in no way were they test level pacemen .

Same m abbas performed well in county cricket but you can now see in intl cricket how batsmen have worked him out .

Olivier hasn't been performing well in county cricket though. He's been pretty mediocre and at times struggled to get in the starting XI.

Managed to get some wickets due to this track suiting his height and bounce. His pace was pretty sluggish though.

Really disappointed with how much he has changed.

His pace has gone down considerably and that sharp bounce is rarely seen anymore. He seems to have adapted his bowling to English county conditions.

He can try to be the new Vernon Philander but I'm not sure that he can be. He is nowhere near as skilled as Vern was at making the ball talk.

Olivier's two biggest strengths were his pace and the unpredictable, sharp bounce he was able to extract from surfaces, which now seem to have been rendered completely redundant since he is bowling in the 130s.

He was coming back from injury maybe not 100 percent yet maybe wait for another test before passing judgement

Olivier's been reduced to bowling at the same pace as Mohammad Abbas, struggling to cross 80 miles per hour. He's not moving the ball either, so I don't really see what future he has left in international cricket.

His stint in county cricket has changed him. Requirements to be successful in county cricket is hit a good length at 80mph and you are successful due to the nature of the pitches.

No zip, no energy in his bowling.

Looks a shadow of the bowler he was.

Can grind out the remainder of his career in English county cricket but in international terms he is essentially a trundler now.
