Not sure if Afghanistan being in the other group would guarantee Bangladesh going through to the next round. Bangladesh couldn't even put away minnows Hong Kong and played them like they were some elite team.

No other sport has this type of fixed grouping. You are unlikely to see these in FIFA WC or Euro Cup or COPA.

They always put Pak and India in same group and BD, AFG, and SL in another group. It makes a mockery.
