Its too early to say now whether SL will win but I really like this fearless approach of young SL kids. Yes they have showed more ability then some Pak batsmen but approach and intent also really matters.

300+ is a par score in this tournament and most teams should be able to chase it considering the flat pitches and white kokaburra we are using. Really cant blame captains and bowlers tbh when there is least help. Almost All teams have already gone for 300+ once.

May be a note to Pakistan that include youngsters in the side and kick out players who play for themselves and corrupt other youngsters too. Or to players themselves that time has changed and a more positive approach is required now. Bowlers wont always give you 230s to chase.

Hasn't each team shown it pretty much besides Pakistan? India, Australia, SA, NZ, Eng, WI even can all chase 300. It's not that hard. You have 6 balls an over. You can't score 6 puny runs in an over?

I agree with youngsters. Just look at last match all the youngsters were the stars: Imad, Fakhir, Hasan Ali, Babar.

The Sri Lankan batting is really strong, better than ours.Dickwella didn't fire today but Mendis and Gunathilaka did extremely well.

Well they are running themselves out of the game at the moment. Two set bats runout.

I loved their approach, and yeah even if they do not go on to win this game they have shown that they are capable of chasing 300+ totals. The problem with Pak is that after playing dots and dots they try to play the million dollar shot and get out where as SL have rotated the strike well.We need to rotate the strike as it takes off the pressure on you and keeps the scoreboard ticking. We sure have ability but it is the mindset which needs to be changed and yeah :hafeez2 needs to be replaced for that.

Biggest problem for Pakistan are mediocre and shameless players like Azhar and Hafeez who despite being useless with the bat are having free ride in the team. Bowling can not win us matches all the time. This is high scoring tournament and as soon as we'll get 300 plus (or even 200 plus) to chase we'll be out courtesy of these outdated players.

This chase has made me more concerned about our own chances. Remember we have to beat them and beat them by a comfortable margin.

The equation will be simple for us because our game is last and by then we will know what we need to do to get through.

What if the equation becomes we have to score 400 and dismiss them for 150???

I do not think Pakistan has the fearlessness and skill to play like how the lankans are playing the indians. jadeja is made to look like a practise bowler:)

If SL win today then, Ind v RSA & Pak v SL will be quarter finals.

Sri Lankan batsmen aren't overawed by the occasion like Pakistanis are. There's not the same pressure in a India-Lanka game that there is in a India-Pakistan game. That's what Pakistan will need to work on, because like they showed against South Africa, they can certainly play a lot better than they did against India.

Pakistan's batting is terrible with liabilities like Hafeez are Azhar. Instead of playing so many bowlers and bits and pieces players we should drop azhar and hafeez and include fahim and haris to improve our chances.

Pak batsmen were poor against SA too.

I agree, along with others in this thread that our team is down to two outdated slow players: Azhar and Hafeez.

Espcially Hafeez needs to be replaced with Haris Sohail who can do everything Hafeez does and then some.

Ideally, though we know it won't happen:

1. Sarfraz Ahmed
2. Fakhir
3. Babar Azam
4. Haris Sohail
5. Shoaib Malik
6. Imad Wasim
7. Faheem Ashraf
8. Shadab Khan
9. Mohammad Amir
10. Hasan Ali
11. Junaid Khan

Correct but hey who do we have to replicate Mendis, Perera, Mathews, and more importantly, Gunaratne?!

Similar RRR to what we needed against India. On a flat pitch, Pakistan should have won on Sunday, India bowled/fielded as poorly as they did on Sunday as they did today

Exactly we should have won. Their bowling was nothing special tbh.

Sri lankan batsmen have more talent and ability, they unlike our one dimensional batsmen who will continue to block and block when the bowler bowls a tight line/length will atleast move around the crease, give themselves room to work the ball on the off side, to work the ball on the leg side, pierce gaps in the field whereas the likes of Hafeez, Azhar Ali, Babar Azam, Shehzad are all very easy to tie down when you don't put the ball where they like it.

No, we just have to beat them. India v SA is a knockout match, same for us. Whoever wins goes through.

Yep and thats why I found it silly at halfway point Ganguly said game is over as India have batted Pakistan out of the game. 6 RPO is batting a team out of a game lol?

Pak unlike India can't handle the media and fans pressure when playing against India. Pak are mentally weak where as Sri Lanka don't come with that baggage of historical rivalry. To them playing India is just another match, their attitude was "if India can get over 300 runs then so can we coz their attack ain't nothing special." Also, as another poster above has said that we don't take to many singles so either it's boundaries or nothing. This is why I hate to see Azhar open the innings as he immediately slows down the run rate. We are always playing catch up because of him.

Dot Ball Hafeez can learn a thing or two from these amazing Lankans

The way those boys took on the Indian bowlers with that mammoth total was amazing.

Heck, he can learn from his own colleagues like Zaman and Malik. He knows how to take singles. He never played like this. He knows how to place the ball in the gap and look for runs. He's just a selfish cricketer and doesn't give two craps about the team winning or losing.

Pretty much this.Still trying to cement his place in the team.

It's just terrible we have people like this in the team.

I just hope we can bid him adieu after this tournament but I feel like a 70 ball fifty vs Sri Lanka is going to safeguard his spot for the next WC. He's played his best against Sri Lanka.

The problem is now that Misbah and Younis have gone they will cling on to Hafeez with the excuse that we need some seniors along with the youngsters
