Looks like you don't have much faith in team India

Not about faith. SL chose the right approach by preserving wickets. India just let them build the partnership.

India is making a meal of it. 40 in 5 overs with Tushara and Kandamby very easy. They are fully using the powerplay.

As i said earlier India is destined to lose. India had the game in complete control several times both while batting and fielding. Some way or the other they managed to give the advantage right back to them.

Kandambi is a good find for SL. He has paced his innings perfectly. India was atleast 50 runs short given the start they had.

Brilliant effort from the Sri Lankans. I just hope they can finish it off

congrats SL. Whooish.. Good match. India underperformed badly with bat despite they had an opportunity to post a total in excess of 300.

man, i didnt even know the wkt went, indians are going about so coolly, hardly any celebrating

Lankans generally have good temperament. Gone are the days when Aravinda would throw away his wicket when the bowling was under his mercy.

I am sure he is going to refuse strike . So chances of him getting century is high. Even win is not out of the question. I would still say 50/50.

ironman bhai, ab to bas karo
hum jeet gaye, jaago... :)

All over. Tough luck Kandamby. Great fighting knock. *Sigh*. Well played SL. India leads 2-0. good position to be in.

But this innings of SL is an example of how you can do catching up if you keep wickets. It may not always work. But it is a good strategy. Pakistan had a different strategy against us. Scoring heavily in the middle overs against part timers. But this pitch was turning a lot.

I am still struggling to understand how can Pakistan lose 2-1 to Sri Lanka based on Sri Lanka's ordinary form. How seriously poor did we become?

No question about it at the moment, it pains me to admit it but its the truth

Indian team right now >>>>>> Pakistani team at the moment

Pakistan's problem is top order. Infact top order is very important for an ODI team. One time they clicked they won. But they were chasing a relatively low total. When you are chasing totals like 270 and setting totals like 300 you need someone upfront to use the powerplay.
Butt & Manzoor both seem to be single paced batsmen. It gets down to middle order batsmen accelerating the middle overs against the likes of Murali & Mendis. Indian middle overs bowling is very weak especially without Harbhajan. But SL middle over bowling is very strong. Pakistan should have persisted with Jamshed who seemed to fully utilize powerplay in the one game i saw.

Man ur user name and ur attitude :))

Just when i get over-confident our team ends up losing. So try to keep low expectations even when we are in commanding situation. :))
My worst fears almost became true.

Manzoor is not the answer for me as opener. He has technical issues and takes too much time to get his eye in. Butt plays at the right pace, but even then he is inconsistent with his strike rate. Butt's problem is he just looks for boundries, he needs gaps in the field or he needs the ball to come on to the bat nicely, he is a poor grafter in my view.

If it were upto me, i would send Shahid Afridi and Nasir Jamshed to open the innings and have Butt at one down.

When Australia was at the top of their game in one dayers their tactic was to use the first 15 overs fully regardless of how many wickets they lose. Sometimes they would find themselves at 97 for 4 after 15 overs. But they never used to go slow in the first 15 overs especially when Gilly & Hayden were opening.

Two super aggressive players at the top. Could work brilliantly, but one thing is guaranteed, one of the two players will get out early, thats why Butt is at no 3 for damage control.

Savak as mentioned earlier you could see todays's game and thank lanka's fortune that sehwag was run-out otherwise india could have posted a monumental score in the end.43 of 26 balls rattled the opening bowlers and gave the start India needed to post a big score even though the middle and lower order collapsed. It was a spinning wicket made to suit the host's strength but when you get a start like that all you need to do is milk the bowling and in the end India still managed to get a match winning score of 256...

What you seem to be suggesting is logical.....so it wont happen with our team.

How did Sri Lanka manage to lose this one? 250 is not hard but Kanamby might be trying to sen da message to the selectors for his inclusion in the upcoming test series vs Pakistan.

Top order collapse was the main reason.

I am surprised that india won the match. i dont rem preciously but two well settle batsman were run out. ... Sachin and sehwag given wrong decisions... 50 runs less what india expecting.
Good one.
