What's new

Sri Lanka v India | 4th ODI | Colombo | 5/2/09

India have started inns with the spinners Kumar and pathan not much pace on the ball.

32/0 after 3 overs..

:)) Irfan Pathan needs to stop playing cricket and concentrate on reality shows. He is going at 10.42 runs per over.

^^^ I take back my above statement. Irfan takes the wicket of Jayasuriya.

ST Jayasuriya c RG Sharma b IK Pathan 27 (16b 1x4 2x6) SR: 168.75

9.5 IK Pathan to Dilshan, FOUR, hopeless delivery, slower ball landing full outside off, Dilshan cashes in, playing a blazing drive through the covers :pissed:

Irfan Pathan bowling a slower delivery! Now how slow would that be?

They have excellent run rate. They should be able to chase it comfortably with Sangakkara and Mahela.

:)) Similar tactics as used in the previous match ?

What the heck Dhoni is having 2 men outside the circle when he is allowed to have 3.

SL havent taken 3 power play yet

Even without power play Dhoni is keeping 6 inside. Srilanka scored 14 runs promplty in that over. Dhoni is over-attacking.

Well, we have a situation here. Someone's thrown in something from the crowd and Dhoni is understandably upset. It seems he is taking his players off, after a discussion with the umpires :boom:

ROFL, Srilanka fans cant digest the loss of their country, i guess they should get used to it by now.

This is third time in row. This time iit is a reasonably sized stone. Dhoni did the right thing.

srilanka fans cant afford to do such mischief, they are already in **** position, such behaviour could put their cricket in further trouble, hence giving out one more excuse to other countries not to visit lanka.

Drama begin :D

The umpires are now having a discussion with the security officials. One of the fielders in the deep was targeted, and because of one miscreant, there is now a stoppage in proceedings. The match referee Chris Broad, the umpire, the curator, everyone's out in the middle having an elaborate discussion.

What's going to happen from here? They're surely not going to call it off. It is not often you see crowd trouble in Colombo. The Sri Lankan batsmen have returned to the dressing room, while the Indians have gathered behind the boundary ropes.

I am not sure why they are doing this. This is a dead rubber. Wonder why they behave like this.

It is pretty pathetic one miscreant was able to stall the game completely. To be fair it happens third time in a row.

There was a similar incident earlier in the series as well, but there was no significant interruption there. Chris Broad is having a word with the Indian players. Finally, some news. The play is now expected to start at 8.30 pm, which is ten minutes from now. There will not be any reduction in overs, so we have a full game.

Pakistan had never this type of problem. I hope foreign teams are watching this situation right now and then base it on Pakistan.

Yup there was but the play wasn't held or anything like that. I think it was with I. Sharma or Zaheer Khan

ok whats up with Sehwag getting regular bowling slots? are they developing him into an all rounder?

In some matches he bowled better than harbhajan. Recently he took a fifer against SA in Tests. Actualy he turns a lot more. He already got 85 ODI wickets.

There's no denying that India have played uncharacteristically well this series.

However, Sri Lanka have looked third-rate. Misfields, wayward bowling, listless batting. When they bowled us out for 75, their lines and lengths were superb.

That is because Pakistan batsmen allowed the bowlers to dictate.

Actually its because Pakistani batters are Pakistani batters. But the pitch did swing and seam a bit that night, but this is not the first time our batters have been embarrassed on such difficult conditions.

I hope that some heads role in the Sri Lankan team for this debacle. They definately need to have a look at their bowling line up and need to get rid of some fat pigs in the field.

True.

I think Lankans will probably recall Vaas to the ODI side, not too sure why he was dropped in the first place don't recall him bowling too bad in the series between these sides last August?

Gambhir just told "Gary kirsten is the best coach India ever had" !

Better than even Sandeep Patil???

Don't think Gambhir's played under enough coaches or long enough to be able to make such assertions.

Maybe he is echoing the sentiments of some of the senior members of the team.

But apart from John wright this guy is a quiet guy. Doesn't meddle too much. He doesn't really have to with Dhoni at the helm.

Actually Sri Lanka deserves this beating: instead of playing 5 odis and 3 tests against Pakistan they went on to accept Indias offer for money. Well enjoy the money...

Too early to say that and the assessment can be made after 2009 is over.

Dhoni coming in at 3 shows how confident India are with their current team.

Hate to say it but India at the moment remind me of Australia a while ago. :(

They all have confidence.

exactly what i was thinking , we have had a very strong team for past 7-8 years ...but this team is all about self belief ....the players seem to have a lot of belief in their team mates abilities , not just theirs ......Aus were a great side , cos they won even when they were playing badly ... thot we did the same in first 2 odi's here .. ...difficult to believe am actually watching an indian team play , cos we are not supposed to be playing near perfect cricket :)
