until SL dropped some catches and gave away some silly runs, I do not yet see it as a contest.

Now let's see if Irish can handle Mendis and Murali.
 
dropped....144/9 SL a very impressive and disciplined performance by the irish here. However I think SL should win this one by around 30 runs or so, the closer the irish get the better for us!

agreed mura ,mendis and malinga will make the irish fart
 
probably 10-15 runs too many for the Irish I think.

But they have a chance.......would be excellent for Pakistan if they can do it.

This game is at Lords where 150 is considered to be a good score.

We're playing them at The Oval tomorrow...which is a flatter and better batting wicket (unless you are New Zealand, ofcourse).

Definitely.

If Ireland win today then we don't have to worry about net run rates. We only have to beat Ireland tomorrow and we are through to the SF. The winner of Sri Lanka vs New Zealand will join us.

We may even finish top of our group.

One thing though, is finishing 1st or 2nd means anything or its like the super8 where the positions were already allotted?

finish 1st in the group and we avoid the winner of the other group for the semi......which means we would avoid South Africa as it stands

If we finish top of our group then our SF will be at The Oval against whoever finishes 2nd in the other group.

If we finish 2nd then we play our SF at Trent Bridge against whoever finishes top.
 
I think it does mean something this time, since if you look at the fixture list it says TBC and not anything pre assigned.

That means against South Africa at Trent Bridge, thats not that good, is it?

so if we finish 2nd we have to probably play south africa at trent bridge...the same place they beat us in the warm up....

Porterfield needs to do something different. He is not gonna get runs on the offside.
 
If we reached the semis, how long would you avoid to see the BEST from the other group?

Pakistan is gelling together well; I hope they play the best in the Semis and win. That would be the confidence boost we need to win it all.

gone for 4! However Ireland can get the odd boundaries now and then but they dont seem very good at getting singles and twos...rotating the strike, finding gaps that sort of thing.
 
they run a quick 2 just after i say that lol they need to do more of that!
 
Can Irelland do what pakistanis couldn't do.

That will be a big question.
