After watching months of other teams' batsmen leave balls on the 4th stump line, it's disgusting seeing pakistani batsmen play balls on the 6 stump... wth...

I swear manzoor deserves a good slap if it was not out. Looks clipping so might have been a good decision. Hit him on the knee roll.

Some people trying to act as if they have more knowledge and are more of a tactician than Misbah/Waqar/Moin.

This pitch is going to turn like CRAZY after day 3. No one in his SANE MIND bats on it LAST.

These openers getting out are due to their own stupid poor technique and the way they played.

Don't try to teach cricket to people. They will call you an attention-seeker.

Relax.

We will be here on day 3 so i hope you are right.

Yeah good decision to not review it.

Younis khan here. One of our rocks and if he stays there then hello century. :D

Manzoor doesn't know where his off stump is. He comes out to every every ball that's pitched full. Any good bowler will just put couple of balls slight wide of off stump and bring one back in and there is the result.

Zero improvement in such a long break. You would thought these players will be well trained and well rested in the last few months to break hell loose on SL but looks the opposite. lol

These two need to see out the first hour.. Pitch would ease out later

Prasad bowls a few straight ones and then an inseamer. The surprising thing is both our openers showed imperfect technique to it. Good bounce there.

Both openers gone within 6 overs. :110:

And what will Waqar Younus do about it? He was a fast bowler who has no idea how to improve BATTING in the opening stand.

We surely needed Dean Jones for the head coach role.

People who rate Manzoor and Shehzad are out of their mind.

Pakistan should declare Shahzad and Manzoor injured and bring some new openers.

Need another wicket to make things interesting and ideal for Misbah who will choke the life of SL bowlers by his typical style of batting.

Manzoor is decent in my opinion but he has a major flaw - his balance is poor which is why falls on his front foot. Don't know if he can rectify that at 27, if he does he'd score for fun in all formats.

Junaid could have been a handful in these conditions, Misbah missed a trick by not bowling first.

Junaid is going to get killed here on pakpassion if he doesnt swing it.

On the leggish pads and 3 runs. Thats good stuff.

Does not know where his off stump is hence why he comes out to anything pitched full even if its wide.

Looks like you could be a better coach than Waqar Younus who has no idea and no ability to analyze a batsman's technique and help him improve.

It's a good toss to win, Misbah did the right thing batting first. It's a Test match & specialist 1, 2 & 3 are picked to see out the morning session. If this match isn't hampered too much by rain, my money is PAK to win it (& I am recording it after 19/2). Batting second, I won't have put money on PAK chasing 170 last, that's 25 runs honor for Grant.

It's easy to criticize a decision, but both team stack the team for batting first & I am sure Methews would have batted first. At Galle, you should bat later only if you are trailing the series with the last match being played & there is a big chance of the match curtailed by 120-150 overs.

Shafiq gets another chance to prove why he doesn't belong in this side, this team never seems to learn.

For all the people crying about the decision to bat first:

In the 24 test matches that have been played at Galle, four teams have decided to bowl after winning the toss.

Only one of them won the game, Sri Lanka vs India in 2000 on a wicket described as:

Sri Lanka had never before fielded four seamen in a home Test. This shift of emphasis derived from a policy of producing pitches with grass and bounce in the run-up to the 2003 World Cup, and Jayasuriya. winning the toss for the 18th time in 22 Tests, put India in on a strip that looked green but was dry underneath. Initially, as the openers ground their way to 79 without loss in three hours, his decision looked mistaken.

Agreed. Losing wickets here has more to do with the inability of Pakistan batsman than the pitch.

Forget the stats, its raining there and the conditions are overcast, ideal for fast bowling

Azhar Ali is the only one who looked assured and played solid shots.

He's going to play for a long time .

On the contrary, I think SL probably wont need to bat in the fourth innings. Their lead in the seconds will be good enough. (Score is 22/2 while I am typing this)

Good decision to bat first, no outlandish movement out there just what you get on a first day pitch.

He doesnt play long innings, has a knack of throwing away his wicket after taking lot of time
