No team should ever visit Sri Lanka if they have a garbage bowling attack. Test Cricket should be banned in SL.:69:

Anderson probably will give a breakthorough and so will johnson..not sure about the rest. They probably will toil on this SSC surface.

in 2006 on ssc against steyn SL created a 600 plus partnership for third wicket.
 
Just need to keep pressure on. At least the r.r has slowed down. Hopefully the ball will reverse enough to trouble the middle order.
 
And when I say Test cricket is going to eventually die, some people protest.

Don't complain too much about the pitch. SL are 1-0 up, it's Jaya's last game at his home ground. What did you expect? Pakistan should have bowled better with the new ball. They need to stay on their toes. A chance will come.

If this was 15 years ago my reply would be, "yeah but they are also the only team that can demolish a batting line up on this pitch". But today ill remain quiet.
 
I want so see how well Wahab bowls with the old ball. If he can get some good reverse going, our strategy in the future could be to play Junaid and someone else up front, and then unleash a fresh Wahab in the middle overs, it could prove to be a good strategy.

junaid also has some deadly reverse swing. Remember the last time Pak toured Sri lanka?
 
Decent over. Clearly trying to get it to move away after pitching from the right hander with the odd one going with the angle. Not much movement yet though.
 
The problem is all of our bowlers have been exposed including Ajmal.

Yeah but the reason I would unleash Wahab in middle overs is that he is the more aggressive one. Junaid can also bowl in the middle overs, but Wahab should be an old ball specialist...

Yeah. I like seeing the batsman counter good bowling. Around 150 scores in t20s and 250 in ODIs, pretty much what you said
 
Ajmal will pick up 5 wickets after Sri Lanka have scored 500 runs.

He was average bowler at best.

Was hyped up as usual to be ATG.

If he can average like DArren Gough in tests which was 27 btw, it will be a remarkable achievement.
 
69-0. Hard session but to be honest, if Ajmal keeps flighting it and using his normal offbreak I think he can get something from this pitch. Junaid has been economical but there really is nothing in this pitch. If there's no reverse then Riaz is gonna get hammered in his second spell. Too many short wide ones. First match in 3 years so hopefully he'll come back with a better line.
 
That's why on these kind of pitches you need your fast bowlers to be able to swing the ball..but unfortunately both our quick bowlers can't swing a millimeter.
 
We will make this pitch look like Edgbaston on a cloudy day with the bat tho :murali

lol they were bowling too short to begin with. Wasted the new ball, needed to pitch it up, kept trying short stuff.

Anyways shorter balls wont have much effect on this pitch, if this was Australia it would be different.
 
I saw one short ball from Junaid and it just sat up. Silva had aaaaaages to duck. Might not be a bad idea for Riaz though, over the wicket.

Misbah did have a direction. He was grooming hafeez, azhar ali, asad shafiq as captain material. Selectors chose them. Misbah gave them all ample opportunities. Not his fault they turned out mediocre.

Not his fault our best two bowlers decided to spot fix and get kicked out of the team.

Its going to be hard to come back from all of this time invested in these players. It will take some time. Doesnt matter who you make captain after Misbah, there is no magic cure.
