i grip the ball with a traditional offbreak grip, wit the index, middle finger and thumb only.but instead,i spin it aniclockwise, achieving a sort of legbreak.the seam is angled towards legslip.the problem is that i either overpitch it or end up dragging it short.please also advise on how to achieve more speed and bounce with this delivery

it ends up like a legbreak? from what u have told me it sounds like u are bowling the doosra... u have to spin clockwise to get offbreak

your basically bowling a carrom ball from what i can tell, a doosra would be back of the hand, you seem to be bowling from the front of the hand.

if your length is a problem its because your not strong enough in your run up and with your grip. make sure you stand tall when you deliver and reduce the flight, eventually as you get stronger with practice your control will come. you also need to bowl the carrom ball slightly quicker as its primarily a stump to stump delivery, a lack of over spin means batsmen wont deceived in the flight, so giving it too much air will get you smacked against good batsmen.

any type of new spin delivery is hard to control the length of initially, just persevere and it will become easier.

hope that helps. and develop a regular offie too, or the carrom googly like kumble used to bowl.

Until you can control your stock ball which is your offie don't even think about variations. You need to be able to consistently hit a good length and only than think of tinkering around.

my stock ball is this delivery.i actually started spin bowling with a large lemon.in the offbreak grip,it is practically impossible to turn it clockwise,so i turned it anticlockwise which is the most obvious way.very recently i have statred developing the regular offbreak by spinning the ball clockwise.this time the problem is that to impart any significant turn, the arm tends to push the ball across the right hander which ends up pitching it outside offstump, making it easier to pick as the offbreak because the stock ball is pitched more inline with the stumps(it has to be).

Carom Ball

it cannot be the carom ball because this delivery is ripped with the middle finger and thumb and the index finger acts in support and guidance.unlike the carom ball, which is flicked with the middle finger.

You are bowling a doosra, by what I interpreted. I would just say,you hold the ball like an offspinner so bowl like an offspinner. Control your stock ball and then go for all this.
