What a start of this session. No doubt 2nd best league in the world after the mighty IPL. :kp

I;m not sure if Wiese should have bowled again at all. Markram should have bowled himself

WHat a match. First game of the tournament and already they have given you a great advertisement for the product.

Fantastic match... very fun to watch. SA20 definitely on a higher level as compared to other T20 leagues

TODAY'S FIXTURES (27-12-2025)

Match 3: Pretoria Capitals vs Joburg Super Kings
Match 4: Paarl Royals vs Sunrisers Eastern Cape

When is the fixer/money-laundering league ending? SA20 missing alot of key foreign names

I enjoy Robin Uthappa's insight but his delivery as a commentator is poor.

Steyn is a pretty good commentator.

KP bit of a clown but I find him entertaining.

Lhuan dre-Pretorius may not look particularly fit, but he is deceptively athletic and has alot of power in those arms

Asa Tribe looks like a good talent. Could qualify for England if he makes a name for himself in associate cricket and T20 leagues.

Heck of a name, that.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape really putting the boots to Pretoria Capitals. SEC probably the best side in the league when it comes to getting the most out of local, homegrown talent.

Watching Matthew Breetzke bat you can tell why he has been so successful at ODI cricket. Like any good ODI batsman, the strike-rotation and running between the wickets is on a very high level.

Watching SA20 for the first time. My first impression is what an ugly scorecard graphic. The font is popping out of the box

Every guy looks talented in these paindu leagues.
Real test is icc events and test matches.
Bilateral T20Is are as useless as omar abdullah
SA20 has a very high level of quality. Much higher than PSL, Hundred, BBL. Some aspects are even better than IPL like quality of fast-bowling.

And Jordan Hermann is most definitely a name for the future. He has been doing very well in South African domestic cricket. He is on the cusp of playing for South Africa.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Durban Super Giants and Cape Town are looking like a cut above the rest this season.

Paarl Royals might be the weakest team in the competition.

Johannesburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals are somewhere in the middle, but a level below the top three teams.

Was really good in the longer formats in domestic but he's played a couple of stunning knocks in T20 cricket as well this year.

I expect him to be picked in PSL.

Yeah good in domestics
But lets see what he does on the biggest stage

Pitches make a difference. Even Haris Rauf looks a million dollars on Australian wickets

Not all pitches are the same. Alot of the games are very high-scoring, while in others you see bowlers getting alot more natural seam and bounce, which is in the nature of South African surfaces anyway.

As for Haris Rauf, he has always done well in Australia. Australian pitches suit his style of bowling.

His strike-rate in past seasons was not good but looks like he has made an effort to change that aspect of his batting. He has been fantastic in the middle-order for SEC so far eventhough he is an opening batsman.

He would be a good pick for any PSL team. Infact, there are alot of players in this league who give you that 'Moneyball' player vibe - guys who are not that well-known but could be very good additions to any T20 team. Tharindu Ratnayake is another player that I'm surprised wasn't picked up in the IPL. Ambidextrous Sri Lankan spinner who will trouble alot of teams... he was sensational tonight, running circles around PC.

SUNRISERS THRILL HOME CROWD WITH BONUS POINT WIN OVER CAPITALS

Quinton de Kock treated “The Orange Army” to a batting masterclass in the Sunrisers’ Eastern Cape’s 48-run bonus point win over Pretoria Capitals at a rousing St George’s Park on Monday evening.

The victory propelled the Sunrisers to top of the Betway SA20 table with 10 points, while the Capitals remain winless after two matches.

The Gqeberha locals came out in their thousands to deck South Africa’s oldest Test venue in a sea of orange for the first home game of Season 4 with the iconic brass band getting everyone in the festive spirit to deliver yet another memorable Betway SA20 night.

De Kock certainly gave them plenty to cheer for with the left-hander blazing 77 off just 47 balls (5x4, 6x6). The left-hander struck the ball sweetly from the outset with a couple of rasping lofted cover drives interspersed with powerful pull shots.

Matthew Breetzke (52 off 33 balls, 7x4, 1x6) was the perfect partner for De Kock after the early demise of Jonny Bairstow with the pair putting together an electrifying 116-run partnership off just 70 balls.

This laid the platform for the in-form Jordan Hermann (37 off 20 balls, 5x4, 1x6) to unleash a series of conventional and reverse sweeps that pushed Sunrisers to an impressive 188/6.

The four Player of the Match candidates were Matthew Breetzke, Quinton de Kock, Shai Hope and Adam Milne with the 'QDK' winning 69.3% of the fan vote.

The total proved way beyond the reach of the Capitals with the Sunrisers unleashing their three-pronged pace arsenal of Marco Jansen, Adam Milne and Anrich Nortje.

Jansen required just six balls to strike the first blow when he removed Capitals opener Bryce Parsons with a rasping delivery that the left-hander could only fend off to De Kock behind the stumps.

The Kiwi Express Milne (4/25) was next in the act when he dismissed West Indian Shai Hope (36 off 19 balls) just as he threatened to build an innings of substance.

But the major breakthrough was left to Lewis Gregory when the Sunrisers allrounder flummoxed Dewald Brevis (12 off five balls) into taking on the longest boundary in the ground where Breetzke lay in wait to take a comfortable catch.

The Capitals’ innings disintegrated from thereon with Milne running through the visitors’ tail, while left-arm spinner Senuran Muthusamy delivered arguably the ball of the night to clean bowl a well-set Will Smeed (35 off 27 balls, 4x4, 1x6).

Yeah. There are a couple of such "Moneyball" players in the BBL as well that PSL franchises can look at.

I think overseas spinners dont often get picked in the IPL. The franchises generally prefer to pick high pace bowlers, seam allrounders and lower order finishers for their overseas picks .

The Sunday market of leagues is ruining cricket so fast that we just cannot do anything atm.

5 years my senior in school. Just been around him casually in school. Didn't know him that well
Jain college? lol.. i played against him in club circuit for few years in early 2000s and he had few girls from jain college hanging around him.. one was a coorgi girl who used to come in blue maruti gypsy and used to wait for him until end of the match. She had zero interest in the cricket though as she hardly came to the ground and even if she did she used to bring a book and read.

It's kinda surprising how much similarities Duan Jansen and Marco Jansen share. You can understand the facial similarities and even the height on account of them being twins, but having essentially the same bowling action aswell lol? Would be interesting to see them both play for South Africa in the same match..

One difference between them though is that Duan actually has a smile one his face sometimes whereas Marco always looks like someone ate his lunch.

lol, the quality of cricket in this league is much better than PSL, BPL, CPL and even BBL. quality of production and watching experience is much better than watching national teams of Pak, BD, Zim, Afg and even SL.

St. Joseph's Boys High School. He went to Jain after that, lol.
He himself is half Coorgi and half Malayali.
