I feel like the Eagles are under pressure to put'em away early. Otherwise, Pats' are more experienced so at the end of the game, they generally execute well.

Of course, in the Final, experience is always important. :moha
 
New England and Philidelphia two teams I hate so I dont even feel excited for any team.

Eagles missed a trick here - should not have gone for the field goal attempt there.

Super Bowl 2018: Philadelphia Eagles soar past New England Patriots for first Super Bowl crown

For the first time, the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions.

A Hail Mary pass attempt by Patriots quarterback Tom Brady fell incomplete in the end zone as the Patriots fell to the Eagles 41-33 on Sunday in Super Bowl LII at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Jake Elliott nailed a 48-yard field goal with 1:05 remaining to give the Eagles an eight-point edge.

Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham punched the ball out of Brady's clutches with 2:09 left and Philadelphia defensive end Derek Barnett recovered the fumble.

Graham told NBC of the strip-sack: "Just kept going, you know? We said we needed a play. If we got one more opportunity, we were going to give everything we got and I just so happened to get there.

"I'm just thankful because we've got a team that's resilient. You know, we're gonna stick around for a long time – cause we world champs, baby, and it feels so good."

Moments before Graham's key play, tight end Zach Ertz lunged over the goal line for a touchdown with 2:21 remaining, giving the Eagles a 38-33 lead.

On the go-ahead, 11-yard scoring play, Ertz made the grab of a Nick Foles pass at the two-yard line, then dived in front of Patriots safety Devin McCourty to cross the goal line.

It was a drive that Foles orchestrated, the kind NFL MVP Brady, a five-time champion, is known for. The drive covered 14 plays, including a fourth-down conversion.

"I felt calm. I mean, we have such a great group of guys, such a great coaching staff," Foles said.

"We felt confident coming in and we just went out there and played football."

The Eagles had to survive a video replay because Ertz had the ball pop into the air as he crossed the goal line.

"If they would have overturned that, I don't know what would have happened to the city of Philadelphia," Ertz said.

"But I'm so glad they didn't overturn it."

The touchdown stood and so did thousands of green-clad Eagles fans who weren't going to mind the frigid conditions outside once they headed out to celebrate.

It prompted Philadelphia to go for a two-point conversion, but the attempt – a swing pass to Eagles rookie running back Corey Clement – failed.

Foles finished 28 of 43 for 337 yards with three touchdown passes and one interception. Brady completed 28 of 47 passes for 505 yards and three TDs.

New England had surged ahead 33-32 when tight end Rob Gronkowski caught Brady's third touchdown pass of the game, a four-yard toss with just over nine minutes left. Stephen Gostkowski's extra point put New England on top for the first time.

The Eagles took a 32-26 lead 51 seconds into the fourth quarter on an Elliott field goal, creating a bit of breathing space after Brady threw two third-quarter TD passes.

Brady's five-yard scoring toss to Gronkowski and 26-yard TD pass to Chris Hogan sandwiched the Eagles' lone third-quarter score, a 22-yard catch by rookie running back Corey Clement from a Foles throw.

The Clement catch was also reviewed because he appeared to slightly bobble the ball near the back of the end zone but the officials ruled that he had both feet inbounds with possession.

Through three quarters, the teams already had set a Super Bowl record for total yards.

A gutsy trick play on fourth-and-goal at the one-yard line staked the Eagles to a 22-12 halftime lead.

Foles caught the fourth-down touchdown toss from backup tight end Trey Burton. Lined up on the left side, Burton got the ball from Clement in the backfield and threw to a wide-open Foles on the right side.

Clement ping-ponged through the Patriots' defence to set the Eagles up for first-and-goal at the eight, and on fourth down, coach Doug Pederson went for it.

Patriots running back James White plowed through the Eagles' defense to make it a 15-12 game with 2:04 remaining in the half, but New England missed the extra point.

Gostkowski nailed a second field goal to trim the deficit to nine.

New England regained possession when cornerback Stephon Gilmore tipped the ball away from wide receiver Alshon Jeffery at the New England seven-yard line and Patriots safety Duron Harmon secured Foles' pass attempt.

Jeffery hauled in a 34-yard score over Patriots cornerback Eric Rowe late in the first quarter to push the Philadelphia lead to 9-3. Elliott missed the extra point.

Philadelphia received the opening kickoff and began the scoring with Elliott punching in a 25-yard field goal to cap the game-starting drive.

New England knotted the score 3-3 with 4:20 left in the first quarter on a 26-yard field goal by Gostkowski.

Patriots wide receiver Brandin Cooks left the game with 12:59 left in the second quarter due to a head injury. He caught a pass over the middle, turned back to run and was hit helmet-to-helmet by Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins, whom Cooks never saw coming.

Cooks was escorted to the locker room by medical personnel for New England and he was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

New England trailed 28-3 in Super Bowl LI last February in Houston but rallied to beat the Atlanta Falcons in overtime.

I'm happy for the Eagles. Cheered for them for no other reason than to not watch Brady of deflate-gate lift another trophy. Him and coach Belichick are so full of themselves.

Great game as well. Justin Tumberlake was 'meh. Why was he dressed as a homeless dude or some tripped up version of a hunter who forgot to bring his gun and binoculars to the show.

None of the ads were particularly interesting or funny or original other than the Tide ad for the simple reason that it lampooned other stereotypical "Super-Bowl Ads".

Super Bowls are so hyped up and ultimately fail to live up to the ballyhoo. I think their value as the single biggest entertainment event of the year is getting diluted each year.

PHINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, I can now finally drop this excessive baggage I had been carrying with me since the 80s. Eagle fans all over the world rejoice, to the my fellow brethren Eagles fans who are no longer in this world, I am thinking of you guys. Thinking of Jerome Brown, Reggie White, everyone, this win got too emotional at one stage I literally could not stop the tears back after Eagles won which had my parents and friends thinking Eagles had lost the game lol...

Congrats @ GC, wish I was in Philly to be at the parade but I cant, however tonight, I am going to sleep in peace, in happiness forget about all the problems in life & the world and I am just going to enjoy the moment of peace...

Police and civilians have been injured and cars flipped as the strained security forces try to contain the revellers.

NFL fans have been met by riot police as they cause chaos on the streets of the city.

A police scanner has reportedly revealed shocking information about authorities desperate battle to contain the out of control celebrations.

Up to 50,000 people are believed to be listening to a live broadcast of police radios calls.

A Super Bowl party at Temple University in the city has spilled out onto the streets after Philadelphia Eagles' victory with 8,000 heading to the city.

The 18-year-old told the New York Daily News: “We don’t care about the cops."

Those listening to the feed said police reported an explosion in the city.

Photojournalist Patrick T Fallon officer being injured.

Susan McCauley said: “Thank you to Philadelphia police and Pennsylvania State police for all the hard work trying to keep the peace! Best wishes for a speedy recovery to the trooper that was run over by a quad at broad and arch!”

Motor City 911 said: “Trooper is walking....but their still looking for the douchebag on the quad. #Philadelphia.”

Police reported concerns that they do not have enough resources to cope with the situation.

Despite efforts by the authorities to stop fans climbing street lamps in the build-up to the game by covering them with gear oil, there are multiple reports of injuries and falls.

Estimates provided by a police drone place the number of people on the streets at "around 100,000", with large numbers gathering in Broad Street in the centre of the city, which has a population of 1.5million.

Police radios said: "They're tearing the light posts down to the ground. Need everything you got.

"A man just fell from the light pole he's unconscious.”

An unconfirmed number of people were injured after climbing on top of an awning at the Philadelphia Ritz-Carlton causing it to collapse.

Police said: "A male in Eagles jersey on a Quad 4 Wheeler ran over a trooper at 3400 Block of Ryan.”

Crowds have been seen throwing bottles and chanting the name of rapper Meek Mills, while there were also reports of a drone being flown through the crowds.

Officers with riot shields have been deployed to face the crowds which have filled the streets and set fires.

Police were reportedly heard on scanners saying: “Someone set a Christmas Tree on fire at Broad St & Walnut.

"They just flipped a car at the Bellvue Hotel! Need rapid response.

"They're climbing the gates at city hall.”

In the city's Beaver Avenue area near Pennsylvania State College, thousands of fans flooded the streets minutes after finish of the spectacular match, with police warning: "Leave the area or be subject to arrest."

Officers in riot gear arrived to keep fans off the roads.

Video footage circulated online showed large numbers of fans congregating in the area.

Video on Twitter shows people in a convenience store throwing food at each other and looting.

Many people of the city have taken to social media to condemn the actions and call for rioters to stop.

Officers can reportedly be heard on their radios desperately requesting back up.

One said: “Send us some more help down here.”

Amid the chaos on the streets, a proposal was accepted as a happy couple got engaged in front of cheering crowds.

Meanwhile, others voiced their bafflement at the situation.

One wrote: "Flipping cars, starting fires and falling off light poles. Fights, injuries and other wonderful inner city benefits of winning the Super Bowl."

Yes and no. Maybe because I just don't understand the game and the rules that well. Plus I had no affiliations with any team so was watching as a neutral observer.

I been watching NFL for last few years.... it's actually more entertaining than footy. On the whole, the league is designed to be lot more competitive.

My friend is one of the best players in the Midlands. I enjoy watching it live as you get to hear the crunching challenges but come on bro, how can a sport where you watch for over 3 hours but only see a tiny percentage of actual play be more entertaining than the football?

Isn't cricket the same where the game play time is lot less but we watch it avidly... because we understand and appreciate all the nuances.

Football is more continuous play, but not all of it is entertaining. NFL, is equal part brains and brawn. It's much more than bone crunching tackles but how quickly you have to react and change tactics. Watching the NFL show on BBC, i was amazed to find out how NFL players actually sit in classes as part of training and preparation for a game to learn all the plays that they may encounter or the ones they will employ. Once I started to appreciate that, I started enjoying it more than I ever thought I would.

I agree knowledge of the sport makes it entertaining. Dont want to go off topic and it's an interesting discussion so have created a thread.

Yes but tbf I started following this season only and all my knowledge was based on the movies I saw and everyone was qtrbck qtrbck and i was like what passing the ball?But again its coz ignorance about the game rules which made me think that.
