Going by this, was PTI's move to remove Atif Mian justified? If 36% absolutely approve of it, and 21% don't really have an opinion, surely PTI had enough public support to stick to their guns?

I reckon if the scope was larger and more comprehensive those who wanted Atif to be removed would be around 50% at the very least.

Also bring in the political factor. The right wing has more street power and many would jump on the bandwagon because of their political differences with PTI.

Majority are uneducated radicalised goofs whose opinions shouldn't be given any weightage. I am sure anyone in possession of a brain and more importantly a heart disapproves of this bigotry.

Possible, but I think their sample is decent enough. These guys have been spot on in the vast majority of their surveys.

But these semi educated people are most active on these protest movements.

Once the issue was raised and posed such a grave threat to the stability of this country , the govt had no other option.

Imagine a combine force of hundreds of thousands people besieging Islamabad and major Pakistani cities. The police would not be able to handle such a chaos as we saw during previous TLP dharna.

And at that moment you either accept their demand or ask army to suppress at least tens of thousands by force, which would create such an anarchy that you would forget TTP's terrorism during the last decade.

Strong leaders don't give in to bigotry. Abraham Lincoln didn't think of any grave threats to stability when he abolished slavery. Govt should show some spine and be strong enough to protect the rights of minorities. We need to set a strong example by showing these terrorists that their views will not be tolerated in a progressive naya Pakistan.

There is no comparison between that America and this Pakistan.

The decision to appoint him was foolhardy and naive and the decision to remove him was practical. There was nothing visionary or impressive about either decision.

In an ideal world, people's religion would not play any role in deciding whether they get a job or not. But that's not the world we live in.

In Pakistan, he should have never been considered for the position because most of the country thinks he isn't even worthy of breathing the polluted air of that country because of his religion. Unfortunately, in a democracy you can't force things down peoples throats.

So what!

It was a good decision and PTI should have stuck to it. The hate against Ahmadis is ingrained in our minds since childhood. Decisions like this would atleast tell our younger generation that Ahmadis are humans like us and can get high posts and appreciation on basis of their ability and someones religious beliefs wont matter when it comes to merit. What message are we giving to 10-20 Lac Ahmadis who are patriotic Pakistanis and want to for the betterment of our country.

We already disowned Dr.Abdus Salam and I am sure people of that time would have thought the same k it will take time for the hate to disappear but 30 years on situation is still the same or even worse. Silence is never the anwser.

Unfortunately we are not advanced enough to process these thoughts. Even PTI and Naya Pakistan naraybaaz turned on Atif Mian after appointing him. They should have stuck with him. But I guess we prefer to have the likes of Ishaq Dar involved with our economy instead regardless of how crap he was at his job. We get what we deserve.
