Talent Spotter : Ali Khan

From what I have seen, better. But he is still a hack as someone pointed out above. Also a below average medium pacer, but is one of the biggest hitters in Pakistan along with Sharjeel and Maqsood. When this guy hits them, they stay hit.

Interesting. Looking forward to him. He was a legend for me in one of the previous editions of Cricket Captain series.

How is he compared to Hammad and Yamin in terms of power hitting skills?
Bigger hitter than them. Can destroy attacks and also can play according to situation but not sure if his defensive game is good enough. Can be used as a number 6-7.

Well if he really is a big hitter than them then he is the need of time in our lower order. Modern cricket demands for such cricketers.

Ali Khan should quit his mind thinking he is an allrounder and so too Amir Yamin.

Both need to chose departments which allow them to bat at number 5 or number 6 only.

Than they should pile lots of runs to Eye that position in pakistan team.

Both are good batsman and can only become part of Pakistan team if they score heavily in domestic cricket at number 5 or number 6.

They are complete batsman and if they bat at 7 & 8 in one day cup and not in top 6 in Fc cricket than they will get nowhere.

Ali Khan does not get enough opportunities at KRL as a batsman and he has to mostly bat with tail.

Aamer Yamin's highest Fc crore is 225 of 271 balls with 22 fours and 3 sixes at number 8 when his team made 423 runs but question is that in how many matches he will get such opportunities at number 8 ?

Since both are not genuine allrounders but are complete batsman so their future is in batting and they must bat in top 6.

Because his name was not put forward by his domestic team/officials.

Draft list was finalised by PCB officials. Domestics teams or association had no say.

Ali Khan played for PQA last season and played in top 5 but failed to score. He's good but very inconsistent.

Both will drop drastically in the pecking order if they abandon one of their suits. An alternative can be to play them at number 5 in ODIs with a fill-in role for bowling

Since a high quality fifty Aamer Yamin is seen nowhere in pakistan team.

Why ?

Because they think of him as an allrounder, than they see his bowling and decide not to play him.

This way he is missing out on games as a batsman.

With Malik retiring and Umar batting up the order we will need number 5 and number 6 batsman. Aamer or Ali Khan can fit in well.

But when they count Aamer Yamin as an allrounder than he is wasted at 8 or 9 in odis aswell as T20's.

It is a matter of demand and supply. There is more competition as a pure batsman in the top 5. Being an all-rounder hands him an advantage of being unique. He has a higher chance of getting selected as a mediocre all-rounder (he is quite decent actually, but not at par with those from other countries) than as an excellent top-tier batsman (1. which he is not, 2. Fawad, Haris, Umar Akmal, Fakhar, Maqsood et al are ahead of him).

As an all-rounder his only competition are Hammad, Anwar and probably Ali Khan and Fahim Ashraf. Pace bowling all-rounders are essential in today's limited over games. Australia has Marsh, Faulkner (and Watson). New Zealand have Elliot and Anderson. South Africa have Weise, Morris (and Mc Laren). India have Dhawan, Pandya (and Binny). England have Stokes and Woakes. The intentions of top-ranking nations are evident even if their respective all-rounders are not delivering.

Haris is Unfit. Sohaib averages 15 in his last 10 odi games. Fawad was dropped after getting trapped by ring fielders. Rizwan averages 10 in last 6 games. How are they ahead of him ? Only because Aamer Yamin is considered an allrounder. He can do much better than them at number 6 in odis.

This is just my opinion. Aamer is short in height. With this action he cannot increase much speed eveb if he puts on some muscle.

One pitaee and he will be out of team for years. Remember kamran hussain ? Everybody aent given special treatment like Anwar Ali etc.

If Ali Khan outscore Sohaib Fawad in next odi cup than they will be considered as a batsman. Otherwise their international careers will go nowhere.

Look at the controlled hitting and short range. No blind slogging.

Domestic teams and associations provided input.

Ali himself was shocked when I told him he wasn't on the PSL player draft list.

Kamran Hussain was 35+ when he debuted. He was never dropped because of any pitae. The thing is Yamin is not even thought of as a batsman in Pakistani circles. He has an avg of 40 fair enough, but in List-A he has much of his experience down the order. I do agree that he should move to number 5 or 6, but this move should not come at the expense of giving up his bowling.

I remember Hammad not even bringing himself to bowl during the under 23 tournament that he captained in. All rounders are supposed to bowl, and if you have played all your career as one, you cannot just make the change unless you are piling up runs after runs or taking wickets after wickets and topping the charts in one department. Yamin has never been in the top 5 bowlers or batsmen (if I remember correctly). Giving up bowling all together is a big risk especially for a guy who grew up with Razzaq as his ideal. It may pay, but all this is merely hypothetical and not happening any time soon. It is like asking Sarfraz/Rizwan to give up keeping.

On a side note, I think this whole playing Rizwan as a specialist batsman is detrimental for Rizwan, and I think his keeping will suffer if he misses an FC season for an international tour, and does not keep wickets in that match. Moreover, if batting second, a keeper has a good look at the pace and bounce of the wicket, and probably part of why Rizwan has such good numbers in domestics is because of this factor.
