Hasan Ali is a right arm medium fast bowler who has impressed in domestic cricket, particularly in recent Twenty20 ad 50 over tournaments. He was amongst the leading wicket-takers in the National One-Day Cup helping Islamabad to the final in Lahore.

Getting into cricket

Like most youngsters in Pakistan my entry into cricket wasn't very structured. I enjoyed playing on the streets near where I lived and would play cricket at every opportunity. The cricket there was pretty chaotic and it was an enjoyment and pastime rather than very competitive. From the streets and playing with my friends in our area I started playing tape ball cricket when I was a little bit older. I never really played cricket at school as these days the Pakistan school system does not have cricket as part of the curriculum which is very sad.

Club cricket

I owe my brother a lot for my introduction to club cricket and then first-class cricket. He has done a lot for me and for that I will always be grateful. After playing street cricket, then tape ball cricket I ventured into club cricket after recommendations by my brother in Gujranwala. Once I started playing club cricket I think I realised that I had potential and so did the coaching staff. They told me that I could make it to first-class cricket if I worked hard and continued to improve. The coaches in Gujranwala when I played club cricket really put a lot of hard work in with me and have helped me greatly.

Regional Trials

There were under 16 trials in 2009 in Gujranwala and that's where I was spotted by regional coaching staff. I did well at the trials and then came under their scanner. I started playing for Gujranwala region after being selected at these trials.

Sialkot

After playing for Gujranwala in junior cricket I attended trials for Sialkot region. Ijaz Ahmed junior attended the trials and PCB selector Azhar Khan were present at the trials. They liked what they saw in me and I was given the chance to play for Sialkot region which was a huge opportunity for me and a life changing opportunity. I made my first-class debut for Sialkot in 2013 and took 5 wickets.

Twenty20

I was picked for last year's Haier T20 Cup and it was an honour to play under the leadership of Shoaib Malik. It was a very successful tournament for me especially with it being televised and a lot of people took notice of my bowling after I took eight wickets in four matches at an economy rate of six. This tournament really helped me develop as a bowler as I was playing alongside some big names and very experienced cricketers.

National One-Day Cup

I played for Islamabad as a guest player after Sialkot did not qualify for the main tournament. I really enjoyed bowling in this tournament. The wickets were at times lively and helpful to fast bowlers but you still have to bowl in the right areas. It was great to take four wickets in the semi-final especially as the match was televised. I couldn't sleep the night before the semi-final as I was so excited that I was going to be on national television.

Role Models and Heroes

My favourite bowler and hero is Waqar Younis. He's the bowler I want to emulate. He was a fantastic bowler and if I can be half the bowler he was, I will have had a successful career. I used to watch DVDs of Waqar bowling and still do and that really motivates me. He was a legendary bowler and an inspiration for many Pakistani cricketers. Dale Steyn is also a fast bowler I admire. He's a great bowler who bowls with passion and heart and someone who I want to emulate.

Pakistan Super League

I'm really excited about being given the chance to play in the Pakistan Super League for Peshawar Zalmi. To get the opportunity to play alongside and against some of the world's best cricketers is just unbelievable. In addition to work with some excellent coaches is a wonderful chance for me and I intend to make the most of it. I hope the tournament is a huge success as a tournament and for me individually.

The Future

I want to play for Pakistan and that is my aim. I feel I have developed and improved as a bowler especially in the last 12 months. The next aim is to break into the Pakistan A team and then into the Pakistan team and perform well for my country. I have signed for SSGC for the next domestic season so I believe that will also assist with my progress and development.

Ahhh finally a cricketer from Our Mandi Bahauddin . Kudos to him for getting this far . In mandi bahauddin we don't have any cricketing infrastructure at all . No stadiums , No clubs not even a single PCB official . Most of our guys play tape ball cricket . The closest region is Gujrat which itself is in shatters . Our area is a typical Punjabi area where you will find 60-70 % farmers so moving out is next to impossible for few folks which makes it tough for the talented cricketers who eventually settle down for other jobs.
PCB must invest in Mandi Bahauddin we have a huge talent pool and i am sure many wasim and waqar are out there waiting for someone to hold their hand and show them the way

is he the same guy who git 80 odd in the u-19 match against sri lanka n also git 2-3 wickets.... seems a good talent ..def has a kool head on his shoulder whch would help him a lot..

I am from Amra Kalan and you are right PCB needs to look at places around Mandi Bahauddin.

I am surprised that Zaka Ashraf who hails from that area didn't do much when he was chairman.

Definitely one for the future.

A good attitude and still learning of course.

PSL will help him and then playing for SSGC will definitely improve his bowling.

Best upcoming right arm pacer. Skilled with the new ball and unlike most of the dunces that we have introduced lately, he does hv some grey matter btw the ears.:rahat:irfan:bhatti

Wahab should be rested next game and Hasan Ali should play.

Time to test Hasan Ali & Sohail Khan before World T20 squad is announced.

Hope he gets a chance for Zalmi soon.

Wanted him & Sohail Khan to be tested before squads are announced. But now both are out of contention.

Hope Afridi gives him next game by resting wahab. If wahab plays non stop he may get inured due to work load.

Yeah don't see him getting selected now but would still like to see him get a chance.

He clarified that Cricinfo had his place of birth incorrect.

He was actually born in Gujranwala.

I've heard that he is in discussions to play some club cricket in the UK this year.

If it happens, it's a good chance for him to learn and improve his all round game.

Club cricket is usually a peice of cake for pakistan FC bowlers , I don't know how can it help our bowlers. It can help the batsmen who are dud against any swing.

Debuting for Pesh tonight

Are you sure?
#GreenRoars please make a detailed video of his bowling in this match. Though you cannot say alot about a fast bowler on these phattas but still, atleast we will have a good look at him.

Regards

Don't worry :)

2nd over first 3 balls around 139-140
this is why i think they need another team in the psl . Its unfortunate that he hasnt got more chances so far .

really impressive pace 135-140 and has the new ball skills

No way he is 140. His effort ball could hit 133-135 mark.

You guys are seriously misjudging Hiss pace here.

Not speed of all his deliveries were shown, but in his 2nd over he he clocked 139.8, 139.4, 136.4 and 139 kph. So it is pretty clear that he is 135-140 kph bowler

Slap on the face of those who said his pace was in the 130-135 mark. He is clearly a 135+ bowler, has a brain, and I have seen him bowl some beautiful yorkers and slower ones too. Reminds me of a young Sohail Khan when he first came on the scene.

This guy is good , was getting reverse in the last over .
136-140 kph pace , good skillset with the new ball , reverse swing .
There is a lot to work with .

His action reminds me of Dale Steyn's action.

There is a hint there

Wish he played for Lahore or Karachi. We would have seen more of him then.

Lahore has another budding young fast bowler in their ranks, Zia-ul Haq and the poor lad has hardly got a game.

The best team in this regards is QG who have given a chance to nearly all of their squad, it certainly helps to be at the top of the table though.

I like his action, very smooth and gets his wrist behind the ball. Run up is very nice too.

He needs to use International standard facilities, and he will improve further

He should add a jump like Bhatti's to brace the front leg better to get more lift. Nothing else to add, very good prospect.

Shades of Dale styne. Great future I reckon.

What happens when you remove the minnows that are West Indies?

I enjoyed your cut and paste job but unfortunately for you, all members can use the search function and see the truth for themselves.

Wow mods should take note of this, didn't know people are creating false stats here..

Anything W65 posts about anything should always be checked twice at the very least.

Well, if you want him to get faster than 140, why not send him to Ian Pont? he'll go from being a good bowler to a very good one.

I like seeing where he is now. Lots, lots to work with. Excellent find.

His pace will improve once he gets International standard facilities to work on his fitness.

Needs to involved in A-team cricket straight away

I believe, in the last Pakistan Cup match, Hasan should have been preferred to the past which includes Sami and Irfan. Both have nothing much to offer. Irfan is also a liability in the field.
Yes, probably, like a true sportsman Misbah wants to win but i don't think any one could do worse than Irfan who also leaks 10-15 runs in the field.

Hoping to see him in the next game.

Misbah has a fetish for older players, I don't know why, but he does.

Preferring Zulfi baba in tests.

Picking a newly found TTF in Irfan despite sitting on PTV sports and watching him get tonked in the world t20.

He's never been the one to invest in younger players IMHO.

Personally I think there should be a secondary selection comittee below Inzi and his commitee, which selects domestic teams. Otherwise captains will choose personal favorites like Misbah here going with his ISLU buddies Irfan and Sami.

When Pakistan's 2nd best right arm pacer after Asif who is absolutely Fast Medium isn't even given platform to play First Class season after having the best numbers last season in all divisions

d1b01ba35675879a9afae1b745069e4e.jpg

and than not even included in Pentangular before Worldcup and Pakistan Cup after World T20 despite again proving his mettle in Grade 2 single handedly winning Patrons Trophy for his team with once again best numbers by far

Than even if the 3rd best right arm pacer of the country who has made a squad of 16 should thank his stars. And He will get atleast 1 or 2 games to impress all just like Amad Butt.

This CORRUPT system with height of Nepotism, Bias, Friendships over merit is the biggest hurdle in Pakistan Cricket Progress.

Even partial Blind cricket fan/follower will give testimony that Zafar Gohar is twice a cricketer Imran Khalid is but what matters is that whose friend Mr.Imran is and not the skill of Zafar.

Similarly Pakistan's best Under 23 player and Pakistan's best left hand batsman after Haris Sohail isn't even amongst 81 top players of Pakistan.

Misbah has no interest in shaping future. He should be removed from captaincy in domestic cricket.

One of the reason why misbah retiring will be a blessing in disquise. Fed up of him playing his utter garbage friends. Can't belive how zafar gohar and hasan Ali didn't get to play.

Impressed me the first time I saw him bowl in the PSL. If a trudnler like anwar can be stuck with for a year we should deffo give hassan a chance in the summer against England for the Odis.

Makes the Islamabad team today!

just got hit by Butt for a couple of fours, but has bowled some very good deliveries in his 2 overs so far. The raw ingredients are definitely there

I guess he is the best emerging player in Pakistan.

He has very good bowling figures across all formats.

Bright prospect.

You can tell he's got the ability to do well if he continues to develop.

so how good is he?

is he clearly in the top level or is he another in the Sohail Tanvir, Bilawal Bhatti, Anwari Ali, Hammad Azam mould?

A tier above.

The type of prospect who could become incredibly serviceable with the right coaching.

Let's just say him & Amad Butt are a level above all of those wannabe pacers lol. These are genuine right arm pace prospects and a breath of fresh air after the plethora of lefties. Both can bat too, which is a plus. Will be a travesty if Amir & Hasan are not opening the bowling for us in England

Hasan Ali's batting ability is a sigh of relief for Pakistan lower order. Pleasant change.

I think he is step closer now to atleast Pakistan Odi team.

Keep working hard Hasan. Way to Go.

He is very promising.

You are in a "changing of the guard period". Misbah doesn't care how quick his quick bowlers are or whether they can bat, whereas Mickey Arthu has a minimum pace requirement of 140 and expects them to be able to bat.

Depending on his own batting performance, at most Misbah has nine Tests in 170 days left. But he might be gone in 40 days if he can't score runs in England. And the English press have already note that their team has his number - he won't face any spin bowling whatsoever in this series.

Finally he is selected, i was afraid Inzi will select same old TTFs. But a very pleasant change.
