Team India can dominate for 5-10 years - Duncan Fletcher

This fool undid everything Kirsten has built and done in this team, what an absolute disgrace.

Lets remember that Fletcher needed about 5 years to turn around England's fortunes. From being bottom of the rankings to beating the unbeatable Australians. He did this coz he had complete control and analysed every aspect of the game. I wouldn't be surprised if it was him who put a cricket ball in front of McGrath to step on and miss the next 4 matches in Ashes 2005.

To lift India in the rankings he would need to have complete authority to improve the contracts and the Indian domestic structures and make similar changes that completely overhauled the English domestic set up. Whether BCCI let him do that is another matter. But a mauling like they have just had against England and Australia before that makes the sentiment absolutely necessary to do this.

Wow, they dominating India for 3 years and counting. :)))

This guy's arrival started the dark days of Indian cricket and hes still there

Fletcher was misunderstood. What he meant was that India was going to dominate for ten years with her muscle power - forcing and bullying other teams into submission and making them sign the "big three treaty".:))

What can he do if Indian players can't do well ? its not like India is struggling, they are just horrible away from sub continent and the captain looks retarded during Test matches. I doubt Duncan Fletcher can do anything in this case. It's simply players fault.

If he cant do anything he shouldn't be there.

We were so good under Gary.He owes a part of the blame for the tactics and general mood.Least he can do is give some interviews and share his thoughts. Its as if hes non existent

Kristen had different set of players, Sachin,Dravid, Laxman and etc. A coach can only do so much, he can teach how to play bouncers at fast pitch, how to bowl but he can't make them them do that. At the end of the day, players performance is in the hands of players and specific coaches. How was Kristen's record ? in Test away from subcontinent ?

we drew in SA and won in NZ under Gary.

Yeah players were different. But still he has to work with the guys. There are players that havent improved at all.

If players were solely to be blamed then why have him?

Indians should be happy that Mitch is a bit rusty. The way he brutalised the Poms and Saffers compared to how tamely he's bowling now is the reason why Indias putting up large totals...However credit must be given where its due, some of the Indians have batted quite courageously :kohli

to be fair someone like Kohli would want to take him on and I'd love to see that...similar to how AB de Villiers to him on. At the end of the day it would still be 4-0 but a lot more entertaining :))

"I know five years in international cricket is a long time but unless some international teams suddenly come up, I don't see (India losing its grip)," added the Zimbabwean.

Much of Fletcher's profuse praise, and that of skipper Suresh Raina, was reserved for India's man of the moment Rohit Sharma, who played an unbeaten knock of 86 to haul India out of the woods.

"It was a great innings. It speaks of the tremendous quality India has that a batsman like him is out of the Test side. He has shown that he can finish off an innings. Not many batsmen can do it," remarked Fletcher.

"He can probably play for most international Test sides. He is not getting his opportunity because the present side is so very good. I look forward to working with him. I can't tell the areas on which I would work with him since it's a confidentiality between a player and me."

Lol does this guy still have a job ?? Looks like Ravi hasn't learned his lesson .

India can dominate for next 5-10 years at home only.. If ever the non subcontinent players learn to play spin well then that will be the end of indian cricket in test format atleast.
