I'll be the first one to admit that my team has gone through even worse defeats while chasing in 4th innings of Tests. Our defeat in West Indies chasing 120 odd back in 1997 is probably the second worst defeat I've faced as a fan, the first being our defeat against Pakistan in Chennai, 1999.

Sachin mentioned it in his autobiography how that loss against West Indies was the worst of his life, and how he shut himself in his hotel room for 2 whole days, unable to come up with the loss.

Just to make it clear, I'm not an arrogant Indian fan here. If Pak fans want to taunt me that the defeat I mentioned was worse than the current one faced by the Pak team, it's fine. In fact, it's true. That defeat was more humiliating than this one faced by the Pak team.

But leaving all biases and rivalries aside, just look at the circumstances of this match. Pak needed to chase 280 odd today. They needed to bat less than a day's play. They still couldn't save the Test.

You know what that reminds me of? This reminds me of our loss against England at home in 2012/13. That was even more humiliating for us, since the margin of our defeat was even more humiliating.

Losing to New Zealand in the UAE. That's not at all acceptable, Pakistan team!

The way the last 3 wickets were given away.. Kiwis didn't even had to do anything for that. Just shows what state this team is in, absolutely no fight in them whatsoever.

Why ? Kiwi's battled really well from 60/4 , set up a superb declaration & managed to take 10 wickets in under 57 overs on a pitch where dead defense was certainly possible for 79 overs .

We lost these type of matches even under Younis and Misbah. Frankly speaking, we as a team desperately need to move our cricket away from the UAE. Our batsmen just don't do well in the UAE at all on these slow, grindy wickets.

The structure of the squad also needs to be looked at. Too many slow accumulating one dimensional batsmen, not a decent mix of fast scoring attacking players and accmulators.

What do you mean this is not acceptable. A team can only perform according to its abilities.

Not as bad as Bridgetown or Chennai. We had those games in our pocket. Pakistan had lost this once after they crumbled in the second innings.

The only loss that comes close to Bridgetown/Chennai is Sydney'10.

It's not about how well Kiwis played. It's about Pak losing to them in the UAE. How exactly did we feel when SA defeated us in 2000, when England defeated us in 2012/13?

But yeah, NZ has been giving them some nightmares. Rosco's WC 2011 Akhtar/Razzler smashing, 15/6 early this year come to mind.

Mr. Ijaz Butt is responsible for it. Don't know if Pak fans would hate me for saying it, but he has been the worst poison for Pak cricket ever since I've been watching cricket since the 90's. No one in Pak cricket has hurt Pak cricket more than that man. But even then, this defeat of Pak is simply not acceptable. And that's keeping in mind the history of Pak cricket. Keeping in mind the rich history of this team, losing to NZ in the UAE is simply not acceptable.

Humiliating, embarrassing and there should be sackings!

Get rid of inzi the useless and the worst selector in history.

It's simply not acceptable. Any team supposed to bat less than a day in the 4th innings is supposed to save the Test. And yes, my team has failed in such circumstances in the past as well. It's not about slinging mud.

From an Indian POV that 1997 loss was unbearable at that time. But look at the bowling line up dodda ganesh, kuruvilla ?
And before that in the same year one bad loss vs pak in an ODI where ijaz ahmed scored 130+ to finish a match in 30 overs.
And in the same year 1997, SL scored 950+ in a test match.

And what about the worst defeat in 2000 where Ind were all out for 50 or 60 to give 230+ ODI win for SL.

The bowlers were horrible.
The opening batsmen were pathetic those days.

Nearly 4-5 passengers in teams from 1990-1998.

Pakistan is a poor test side now, worse than Sri Lanka at par with Bangladesh. I shudder to think what will happen to them in South Africa.
