My opinions...

Forward defensive push- nice, well balanced team. Stole my opening duo from the last draft (great minds think alike :p). Bowling is also strong with plenty of useful all rounders and part timers.

Freelance_cricketer- Ponting/Tendulkar/Lara is a dream middle order. Narine is a strange pick for a test draft so bowling seems a tad weaker. The lack of a proper wicket-keeper is a huge weakness although I like Prithvi.

Thunderbolt- great batting unit that stretches to #8 and gilchrist/Mcgrath in a test team is always a positive. Bowling options are nice but seems to be short of one more bowler.

therealab- Gonna be honest I've never heard of David Steele or Peter Kirsten and their stats don't look that great (please let me know if i'm missing something about them). The middle order is great and bowling is alright

andy0204- great bowling lineup and batting looks solid too. fairly well balanced

maddgenius- nice middle order especially with Kohli/Williamson. Plenty of effective bowling options with good variety. Looking into Taslim Arif just now and the guy has a double hundred, nice pick.

Abfan- love that batting lineup, solid openers and a good variety of hitters and strokeplayers. Sir Viv is a nice touch.

Moh@n- powerful batting lineup and just as good a bowling attack. Well balanced team

jeetesh- nice bowling lineup, Akram/Murali is a dream attack. Solid batting too

anikrc1- well balanced team all around with strong bowling options. Smith/Sehwag is a killer opening duo

For me Ab fan's team is the best. But 2d and 3d will be hard to choose.

Never heard of Peter Kirsten or David Steele. AHHH. Peter Kirsten is a legendary SA cricketer who made his debut at the age of 37 due to Apartheid. Considered be everyone to be better than his brother Gary Kirsten

David Steele played 8 tests against WI/Aus with Lillee/Thomson/Roberts/Holding and was England's best bat. Absolute icon

How have you never heard of these guys

Haha sorry I was born a bit after apartheid and only really got into cricket during the 2015 world cup lol... clearly still have a lot to learn!

yep no worries. learning about cricket is why we are all on the forum!

therealAB. That batting lineup, with Kallis, Smith and Sangakkara is mouth watering.

Overall most sides look fairly even so theres’s nothing much in it but first pick I think I’ll go with maddgenius he probably has the most well rounded side out of the bunch for mine. Imran, Lillee, Thompson, Philander and Macgill that would be one heck of a test for the other batting line-ups whatever the conditions might be. Relentless won’t be too many easy runs there. The batting too looks fairly solid should give the bowlers enough runs to work with in most conditions. Can’t say that I’ve even heard of his mystery keeper tho that’s a bit of a doosra :)) but other than that a well balanced line-up overall.

Second pick I’ll go with Ab Fan he has assembled the best batting line-up out of the lot and in terms of entertainment value probably second to none as well. Even guys like Ashwin, Pattinson and Harris are/were more than handy with the bat so there’s batting all the way down the order as well. The bowling might not blow sides away but should do a decent job in most conditions. Harris has got to be one of the most under-rated Test quicks and together with Donald should make for a lethal one-two punch combo. Also having five solid frontliners plus Viv in there should provide plenty of flexibility and options with the ball.

Third pick I’ll go with Moh@n again another solid all conditions batting line-up batting very deep all the way down to number ten. The bowling too well balanced and has plenty of fire power with both the new cherry and the older ball. Also with Hadlee in there who is used to a hefty workload and having both Shakib and Rashid in the side that should give the captain options to keep Waqar and Starc fresh for quick bursts. Not to mention the mystery of Rashid that might be a bit too much to handle for a lot of the batsmen in the other sides especially once the wicket starts to break-up.

maddgenius and Andy together have stolen one quality fast bowler from my side :yk.

To make up for that, I picked James Pattinson as third bowler and Flintoff as my fifth bowler whose peak bowling is right up there with the very best.

I was eyeing for an attack of

Allan Donald
Jeff Thomson
Ryan Harris
Ravi Ashwin
Chris Cairns

But ended with

Allan Donald
Ryan Harris
James Pattinson
Ravi Ashwin
Andrew Flintoff

Pattinson was scary as hell when he came into scenes, I recall that 2011 series vs India. Sad that he is still recovering his way in the team.

Tough choices to pick but I think the three best teams are

1. Ab Fan( best batting lineup, all the way till 10 and a great bowling attack also)

2. TherealAB( very strong batting lineup except openers, formidable pace attack and extra options but spinner is lacking)

3. Anikrc1( Great bowlers, dream top order with Sehwag and Smith but middle order slightly weak)

Thank you brother! Great minds indeed think alike ;-)

Almost all teams have decent batsmen and good bowlers. However, your fast bowlers are truly effective in test matches when they are allowed to go full throttle for a period of 4-5 overs 3-4 times in a day.

As we've seen in 2018 India's tour of Australia, even if you have pretty fit Hazlewood, Cummins in your line up, they can be worn down and scored around later on.

Here is where my allrounders Stokes and Watson come into picture. They're pretty good attacking bowlers themselves capable of producing breakthroughs and provide good rest for Pascoe, Rabada, Johnson to keep unleashing themselves from the other end. All 3 of them have a history of running through batsmen in these scenarios.

Of course I have a great captain and the greatest bowler of all time Warney to also chime in and keep picking wickets.

Thunderbolt14 ‘s team is hands down the best. That batting is amazing and fast bowlers are brilliant as well. Jadeja is the only slight weakness though.

Ab Fan got a really balanced team and i think it'd be successful in a lot of conditions.

5.5 bowling options with that batting line up is very impressive, also richards and de villiers at 4 and 5 would be a mental middle order.

test centurions down to eight. across various conditions i think it would be an amazing team.

also if you guys do something like this again please @ me, id like to play too.

1 maddgenius most balanced team with test class batting and bowling.

2 Thunderbolt14 has 2 Magicians with ball and pace with Bond. Jadeja covers remaining base and very handy for a #8 Batsman

3 Ab Fan another team with all bases covered. Only if he had picked a specialist WK.
