British did not over run India by numbers. They had superior weapons aka tech and they used artillery to good use against the swordsmen of India. They are called Phirangees for a reason.
India was also quite fragmented as Mughal empire was on its last legs after Aurangzeb’s death. It took British almost 150 yrs to take over India completely. One kingdom at a time.

No amount of artillery would have been enough to defeat a country which was united by the Mughals. The Brits used divide and rule by pitting Indians against each other. Pretty sure many of the footsoldiers who did the fighting for British rule were probably Indians.

49 Indian media outlets run false reports on Bangladesh​


An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that between 12 August and 5 December, some 13 false reports were run in Indian media after the fall of the Awami League government.

"Following the fall of the Awami League government, Indian media outlets began circulating a series of rumors about the situation in Bangladesh," said a report of Rumor Scanner Bangladesh, a fact checking organization, on "Spread of Fake News about Bangladesh in Indian Media Outlets" published on its website on Friday.


The report said a total of 49 Indian media outlets were identified for spreading these fake news stories. Among them, Republic Bangla led the list, broadcasting five rumors. Hindustan Times, Zee News, and Live Mint followed closely, each spreading three rumors. Additionally, Republic, India Today, ABP Anand, and Aaj Tak each broadcast two rumors.

Among these rumors were: a fake open letter attributed to Sheikh Hasina after her resignation, a video of a human chain by a Muslim man searching for his missing son being falsely claimed to involve a Hindu person, a false report claiming Dr Muhammad Yunus was admitted to the ICU, baseless claims about lifting the ban on banned militant organizations in Bangladesh, a fabricated story claiming Dr Yunus fled to France after Trump's victory, false allegations about arms being smuggled into Bangladesh via a Pakistani ship, misrepresentation of the slain lawyer Saiful Islam as Chinmoy Krishna's lawyer, rumors about Indian channels being banned in Bangladesh, the spreading of a video of idol immersion in India falsely claiming it was in response to Hindu idols being destroyed in Bangladesh due to Muslim attacks, a false claim about an attack on a Shyamoli Paribahan bus, fabricated reports of an assault on Chinmoy Krishna's lawyer, and misleading news about the UK issuing a travel advisory due to potential terrorist attacks in Bangladesh.

After being ousted from power on 5 August and seeking refuge in India, Sheikh Hasina allegedly issued an open letter from Delhi to the public, claiming that the United States was responsible for her removal. This claim was widely circulated in Indian media.

However, it was later revealed that Sheikh Hasina had not issued any such letter. An investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that the letter first spread on Facebook and was later published with a date in the print edition of the Agartala-based daily Tripura Bhobishyot. Following this, screenshots of the letter were widely shared on social media and later broadcast by several media outlets in both India and Bangladesh.

After 5 August, a video spread across various Indian media outlets, claiming that a Hindu man was holding a human chain to search for his missing son.
However, an investigation by the Rumor Scanner team revealed that the man was actually Muslim, and his name was Babul Howlader. His son has been missing since 2013, and the human chain was organized in an effort to find him.

After Sheikh Hasina lost power, an interim government was formed on August 8, with Dr Muhammad Yunus appointed as the chief adviser. Indian media outlets claimed that Dr Yunus, the chief adviser of the interim government, had fallen ill and was admitted to the ICU.

A photo of a patient receiving treatment in a hospital was also published alongside this claim. However, an investigation by the Rumor Scanner team revealed that the photo was not of Dr Yunus. In fact, it was neither recent nor from Bangladesh. Dr Yunus is, in fact, in good health.

Indian media outlets claimed that after the political change in Bangladesh, bans on several banned militant organizations had been lifted. However, an investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found no truth to this claim. The false assertion was circulated in Indian media without any reliable information or evidence to support it.
On November 5, Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, won the 47th Presidential election in the United States. Following Trump's victory, a claim spread across Indian media alleging that Dr Muhammad Yunus had fled to France. However, an investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that this claim was false. The photo used as evidence of his escape was actually taken on August 8, when Dr Yunus was returning from France to Bangladesh.

On 13 November, for the first time since independence, a container-carrying ship docked at the Port of Chattogram directly from Karachi, Pakistan. Indian media outlets claimed that the ship was the same Pakistani military vessel, "Swat", which had brought arms and ammunition to Chattogram during the 1971 Liberation War.

They further alleged that the ship was carrying weapons from Pakistan to Bangladesh. However, an investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found no truth to these claims. The ship's name was MV Yuan Xiang Fa Zhan, a commercial vessel that brought industrial raw materials and consumer goods to Bangladesh.

On 25 November, the Detective Police arrested Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the spokesperson of the United Sanatan Awakening Alliance, at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on charges of disrespecting the national flag.

The following day, on November 26, he was presented before a Chattogram court, where his bail was denied. Tensions rose in the court premises, and as authorities attempted to escort Chinmoy to a prison van for transfer to jail, his supporters began protesting. The police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) used batons and sound grenades to disperse the demonstrators. During the clashes, Chattogram District Court lawyer Saiful Islam Alif was killed. Indian media outlets claimed that Saiful Islam was murdered because he was Chinmoy's lawyer. However, this claim was incorrect. Chinmoy's lawyer was Subhashish Sharma, not Saiful Islam.

Some Indian media outlets claimed that the broadcasts of Indian satellite channels had been shut down in Bangladesh. However, an investigation by the Rumor Scanner team found that the channels were still operational. Both the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh confirmed to the Rumor Scanner that the claim was a false rumor.
Indian media also reported that the Bangladesh Air Force, with China's technical assistance, was planning to build Asia's second-largest airbase near Chicken Neck. However, the Rumor Scanner team found this claim to be entirely false.

The Lalmonirhat airport has been closed for over six decades, and there have been no recent initiatives to resume its operations.

Recently, a video claiming that Muslims in Bangladesh attacked a Hindu temple and vandalized idols spread online. This claim was also promoted by some Indian media outlets. However, the Rumor Scanner team found that the video was not from Bangladesh but from the village of Sultanpur in East Burdwan district, India, showing a scene of idol immersion. The video was unrelated to any attacks on Hindu temples in Bangladesh.

Following reports in some Indian media outlets claiming a collision between a Shyamoli Paribahan bus and a Bangladeshi truck on the Dhaka-Agartala-Dhaka route in Brahmanbaria, it was further claimed that local people had threatened the lives of Indian passengers aboard the bus and chanted anti-India slogans.

However, the Rumor Scanner team found no truth to these claims. The accident occurred due to overtaking, not intentionally, and there was no evidence of any threats or anti-India slogans.

Various rumors were spread around the arrest of Chinmoy Das, including the use of a hospital image of a person who was claimed to be Ramen Roy, Chinmoy Krishna Das's lawyer. The rumors further claimed that Muslims had attacked his home and hospitalized him in the ICU. However, the Rumor Scanner team found that Ramen Roy was not Chinmoy Das's lawyer, nor was he involved in the case. In fact, Ramen Roy was injured during an attack by miscreants at a program organized by Sanatan Hindus in Shahbagh on November 25. There were no reports or evidence of his house being vandalized.

Some Indian news outlets claimed that the UK had issued a travel advisory warning of potential terrorist attacks in Bangladesh.

However, this claim was misleading. The travel advisory was not specific to Bangladesh but was part of a broader alert that also included countries such as India, Indonesia, Germany, Spain, Sri Lanka, France, and others.

UN rights chief urges thorough probe into Hadi’s killing​

The UN’s human rights chief has called for Bangladesh to fully investigate the killing of Hadi and hold those responsible to account.

“I urge the authorities to conduct a prompt, impartial, thorough and transparent investigation into the attack that led to Hadi’s death, and to ensure due process and accountability for those responsible,” Volker Turk said in a statement.

100 will rise and do what? Separate 7 North Eastern states along with West Bengal, Odhisa, Bihar & Jharkhand from India and make a greater Bangladesh, is it? That was what Hadi wanted to do. Don't you think Bangladeshis :fizz like him try to bite more than they can chew. LMAO.

Let's get one by one.

Before Hasina fled..she was accused and now accused of being India's agent. Can you give me examples of what she did on Indias command. Making a deal that helps both countries are not being an agent..that's call trading. Like Munir is getting money to give up Pak soldiers to defend Israel or handing over mines and oil to China and USA.

Sheikh Hasina is the rightfully democratically elected leader of BD. Her army chief officially sent her to India on BD air force helicopter when she was PM. She stays in BD on her own accord. What will India do? Reject the request of a neighbor pm against a thuggish uneducated mob.

India is not hiding her. Everyone knows she is in India. Neither is she a terrorist and not like Paksitan we are hiding her as Pak hides Osama ilyas dawood hafeez mullah etc etc etc.

Where exactly is India interfering. Hasina is in India on official capacity and arrived on BD govt request and on BD air force plane. We have not changed anything..since then she is staying in India. Interference means taking an action. Inaction is not interference. Kangaroo courts and undemocratic actions like banning the largest party and the party that founded BD might work on kangaroo dictatorship like Pakistan but won't fly in India. What would India hand it over to the crude uneducated Islamic mob that parades her brassiere..of a 70 plus lady.


So please tell me what did Indja do.. with evidence...not just claims.

Hadi's killing has lowered the tolerance level of Bangladeshi people. It is not good news for all the Indian agents.
 
After pahelgam attack and before 7th May attack on Pakistan, Bangladesh were jumping and talking about joining Pakistan in war against India.

But when IAF attacked Pakistan terrorists headquarters and looking at the massive distraction in Pakistan, Bangladesh completely isolated themselves from Pakistan and went in shell

Violent protests engulf Bangladesh capital after youth leader’s death​


DHAKA: Violent protests have gripped Bangladesh’s capital since Friday morning, with crowds setting fire to several landmark buildings and blocking the city, after a prominent youth leader died from gunshot wounds sustained in an attack last week.

Sharif Osman Hadi, 32, played a significant role in the 2024 student-led uprising that led to the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After Hasina fled to India and the regime was overthrown, he became the convenor of the Inqilab Mancha — a platform highly critical of the former premier and India’s political influence in Bangladesh.

Shot in the head by masked assailants in Dhaka, Hadi was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, where doctors reported brain-stem damage. He was flown to Singapore for neurosurgical intensive care but died from his injuries on Thursday, six days after the attack.

After the announcement of Hadi’s death, his supporters, along with angry crowds, took to the streets of the capital on Thursday, blocking the Shahbagh intersection — one of the city’s most prominent traffic hubs and a historical protest site.

Another group set fire to the offices of The Daily Star and Prothom Alo — two major national newspapers, which certain anti-India factions have criticized for allegedly being “pro-Indian.”

Groups also damaged the Bangabandhu Museum, a historic building that once served as the residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman — Hasina’s father and one of the most prominent Bengali nationalist leaders.

The angry protesters also damaged the Chayanat Bhaban, a music school famous for promoting the work of Rabindranath Tagore, the renowned Bengali poet and the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Bangladesh’s interim government has condemned all the attacks and called on citizens to “resist all forms of mob violence committed by a few fringe elements.”

Prof. Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who has been leading Bangladesh’s interim government, said Hadi’s death was an “irreplaceable loss to the nation’s political and democratic sphere,” and that the government was committed to a transparent investigation.

He warned that violence would undermine Bangladesh’s national elections scheduled for Feb. 12.

As protests and roadblocks continued across Dhaka following Friday prayers, Prof. A.S.M. Amanullah, a sociologist and vice chancellor of the National University in Dhaka, told Arab News that they were a “natural reaction” to Hadi’s death.

“He was anti-Indian, anti-imperialist ... He is a really very popular leader among the students and among the protesting citizens of Bangladesh,” Amanullah said.

Violent protests engulf Bangladesh capital after youth leader’s death​


DHAKA: Violent protests have gripped Bangladesh’s capital since Friday morning, with crowds setting fire to several landmark buildings and blocking the city, after a prominent youth leader died from gunshot wounds sustained in an attack last week.

Sharif Osman Hadi, 32, played a significant role in the 2024 student-led uprising that led to the ouster of former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. After Hasina fled to India and the regime was overthrown, he became the convenor of the Inqilab Mancha — a platform highly critical of the former premier and India’s political influence in Bangladesh.

Shot in the head by masked assailants in Dhaka, Hadi was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment, where doctors reported brain-stem damage. He was flown to Singapore for neurosurgical intensive care but died from his injuries on Thursday, six days after the attack.

After the announcement of Hadi’s death, his supporters, along with angry crowds, took to the streets of the capital on Thursday, blocking the Shahbagh intersection — one of the city’s most prominent traffic hubs and a historical protest site.

Another group set fire to the offices of The Daily Star and Prothom Alo — two major national newspapers, which certain anti-India factions have criticized for allegedly being “pro-Indian.”

Groups also damaged the Bangabandhu Museum, a historic building that once served as the residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman — Hasina’s father and one of the most prominent Bengali nationalist leaders.

The angry protesters also damaged the Chayanat Bhaban, a music school famous for promoting the work of Rabindranath Tagore, the renowned Bengali poet and the first non-European to win the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Bangladesh’s interim government has condemned all the attacks and called on citizens to “resist all forms of mob violence committed by a few fringe elements.”

Prof. Muhammad Yunus, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate who has been leading Bangladesh’s interim government, said Hadi’s death was an “irreplaceable loss to the nation’s political and democratic sphere,” and that the government was committed to a transparent investigation.

He warned that violence would undermine Bangladesh’s national elections scheduled for Feb. 12.

As protests and roadblocks continued across Dhaka following Friday prayers, Prof. A.S.M. Amanullah, a sociologist and vice chancellor of the National University in Dhaka, told Arab News that they were a “natural reaction” to Hadi’s death.

“He was anti-Indian, anti-imperialist ... He is a really very popular leader among the students and among the protesting citizens of Bangladesh,” Amanullah said.

Patriotism is serious business. It takes time and effort to gather stats not just on economy, but on TV rights, status of various millionaires and billionaires, how many Indians origins CEO there are in Canada, rate of Indian homeowners in Namibia compared to Pakistanis, write letter to GOI to complain about behaviour of @Major on PP thread etc etc

If you had the weight of presenting all of that information on enemy territory, it is unlikely you would be as jovial as you are now.

I think Bengalis in general struggle to switch on and off from alter egos like Punjabis seamlessly do. In times of civil strife you must double down protection of minorities. It it those people who are weaker and will be targeted most by hooligans and gangs.

Police and Army have to make deliberate points of protecting prominent minority sites.

Unfortunately in Bangladesh Hindus are seen as Modis soldiers, due to unwise intervention of Modi in the past and Modi even trying to be their representative in the white house Infront of Trump.

Hindus are not seen as Modi's soldiers. It is a misinformation sanghis are spreading online. If anything, sanghis call Muslims "Jihadists, Islamists". Sanghis should look in the mirror first.

Awami League people are seen as Indian agents. They are the ones who sell Bangladesh to India piece by piece. They are the ones who should be lawfully prosecuted. Some of them may have to be executed because of what they have done (corruption, murder, colluding with India etc.).

There is no religious angle here. It is effectively common people vs "those who work for India".

Sanghis should understand India is unlikely to get another puppet in Bangladesh again no matter how much fake news they propagate.

Stage 1 is done. Stage 1 was removing Awami League/Hasina. Hasina has been sentenced to death too. Mission accomplished.

Stage 2 is to have a government that serves Bangladeshi interests and not Indian interests. Bangladesh seem to be heading that direction.

Whatever happens, India is unlikely to get another puppet in Bangladesh again. Those old days are gone. Common people don't want an Indian puppet (apart from a small number of bootlickers like Ishtiaq; they are irrelevant). :inti

Bangladesh should strengthen economic and military ties with China. China is the main player in the region. The big dragon.

Other than China, Bangladesh should also keep good relations with Pakistan, USA, and gulf states. :inti

This has caused suspicion amongst ordinary Bangladeshis who are wondering why he is so concerned about Hindus and is holding up our criminal ex-PM. They sadly started to view ordinary Hindus as Indian agents as collaborators.

India should stop poking its nose and allow things to settle. Modi's tantrums and crocodile tears arent doing anything. They worked to imflame the passions of people like my brother @Romali_rotti who felt Modi was on the cusp of invading Bangladesh after his white house visit.

But sadly ordinary Bangladeshi Hindus bore the brunt.

Now I am not condoning the crimes against them. Bangladeshi state must do more to protect them, ultimately a country is judged on how it protects its weakest citizens. But this doenst mean we cannoit draw attention to how Indian's lack of judgement has exacerbated this mess.

The far-right videos distorting the truth of Bangladesh minority attacks​


The videos are shocking: buildings burning, horrifying violence and women weeping as they plead for help.

They are - the people sharing them say - proof of a “Hindu genocide” happening in Bangladesh in the wake of the sudden fall of the country’s long-time leader, Sheikh Hasina.

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, who uses the name Tommy Robinson – a British far-right activist who has been criticised for making inflammatory posts during the UK riots – has got involved, sharing videos along with dark warnings.

But we found that many of the videos and claims shared online are false.

False claim of Hindu temple attack​

Bangladesh has been in the headlines for weeks: student-led protests which left more than 400 dead culminated with the government falling and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fleeing to India on 5 August.

Celebrations escalated into violent unrest, with rioters targeting members of her ruling Awami League party which is made up of both Hindu and Muslim members.

And while reports on the ground have found violence and looting impacted Hindu people and properties, far-right influencers in neighbouring India shared false videos and information that gave a misleading view of the events.

They claimed to show communal violence against Hindus purportedly carried out by “Islamist radicals” with a violent agenda.

One viral post claimed to show a temple set on fire by “Islamists in Bangladesh”.

However, BBC Verify has determined that this building, identified as the Navagraha Temple in Chittagong, was undamaged by the incident which actually occurred at a nearby Awami League party office.

“On 5 August, there was an attack on the Awami League office premises behind the temple in the afternoon,” Swapan Das, a staff member at the temple, told BBC Verify. “They took the furniture outside and set fire to it.”

Mr Das added that although the temple was not attacked on the day, the situation remains tense and the temple has been shut with people guarding it round-the-clock.

This is far from the only story shared, most under the same hashtag, which has had nearly a million mentions since 4 August, according to social media monitoring tool Brandwatch. Accounts that were mostly geolocated to India drove the trend.

Other viral posts which have since been debunked include a claim that a Bangladeshi Hindu cricketer’s home had been burned down. BBC Verify has established the house in fact belongs to a Muslim MP from the Awami League.

Breaking down false claims about Muslim attacks in Bangladesh
All of these posts have been shared by multiple accounts, many of which support Hindu-nationalist values.

Inter-religious strains have been present in Bangladesh for many decades, says Professor Sayeed Al-Zaman, an expert in hate speech and disinformation in Bangladesh.

Following the hasty departure of Sheikh Hasina, matters have come to a head once again, “as Hindus felt insecure in the absence of the government and effective law and order”, says Prof Al-Zaman.

The false narratives have made the situation worse. “Fear-mongering by these influencers is inflaming the tension.”

Global spread​

Some of these posts falsely claiming that Hindus have been targeted by Muslims have been shared by accounts far removed from either Bangladesh or India.

Tommy Robinson who has been criticised for posting inflammatory messages about the violent riots targeting Muslims and immigrants across the UK, has been sharing unverified videos from Bangladesh, where he says there is “a genocide on Hindus”.

We have investigated one video shared by him. It shows a woman pleading for her husband’s life as her home is attacked. The post falsely claims the property is being targeted by “Islamists”. The original video was shared on 6 August, one day after the property had been attacked.

However, when the BBC investigated the story behind the video, a different narrative emerged.

We were told by a group of local students who had assisted the woman in defending her property that the dispute was about an entirely different matter. They shared photos and videos of the clean-up with the BBC which show the property as seen in the original video. The Hindu temple inside the property is unharmed.

“The conflict is about ownership of land. A case was filed long ago,” a student told us. A case has been in local courts about the ownership of the land for nearly six months.

We’ve spoken to other people in the local area who’ve told us that the attack was not religiously motivated and that the perpetrators were a mix of Hindu and Muslim people. They also reported that other Hindu families and temples in the area weren’t affected.

Tommy Robinson did not respond to our request for comment.

Working out exactly what has happened in Bangladesh over the last few weeks has proved difficult.

Many real incidents and attacks have taken place across the country, but the motivations are difficult to assess: religion or politics.

The two are closely entwined: one Hindu resident explained how the minority are largely viewed as supporters of Sheikh Hasina’s secular Awami League party.

AFP fact-checker for Bangladesh, Qadaruddin Shishir, told the BBC that there have been attacks on Hindu-owned properties.

But, he said, “right-wing Indian accounts are spreading these politically motivated attacks as religious ones.”

Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council, a non-profit established to protect minority human rights, reported five Hindu people killed. Two have been confirmed as Awami League members.

The AFP has put the count of Muslim Awami League leaders’ who have been killed at more than 50.

When false claims about attacks on Hindus went viral online, some Muslim protesters decided to guard Hindu temples.

“It’s our responsibility to protect them,” said Moinul, who stood watch last week in front of a temple in Hatharazi, outside of Chittagong.

Viral social media posts were trying to “incite conflict between Hindus and Muslims,” said Moinul. “But we are not falling for it.”

Choton Banik, a local Hindu in the area who attended the temple, asked that they continue their effort “through this critical time.”

“I hope that we will continue to live together in this independent Bangladesh in the future,” he said.

Attack on innocent should always be condemned. We shouldn't be low-lives like sanghis. We should condemn when we see something bad.

Anyway, like I said, many of the videos sanghis are posting are fabricated. BBC did a piece on this. Check post #231.

Hasina's party leaders and supporters may have a rough time because of their past corruptions, murders, colluding with India etc. There is no religious angle here. It is about keeping Bangladesh free from Indian interference.
 
If I were in charge of BD, I would do these now:

- Kick out Indian ambassador and all Indian workers from the country. Bring back Bangladeshi ambassador. Close down embassy in India.

- Ban Awami League completely. It should be a criminal offense to support Awami League. This party just does drama and does nothing constructive for the country. They are effectively an Indian party serving Indian interests.

Objective response to this plan - reasonable approach with interests of BD put forth albeit some parts of it being unrealistically drastic.

For the next period in politics and military planning, combined resources across Bangladesh and Pakistan, should be focused on thwarting nefarious Indian schemes in the region. Indian game has failed very badly, and they may try to lash out further as their ship sinks further.

Was he killed by Indian agents or Hasina's goons or new leadership jealous of his growing powers? Two guys in motorcycles just rode up and shot him. Pretty shocking to read. Wasn't Mujib also assassinated back in the day few years after leading their independence struggle?

In a way I feel BD would have been better off today if they had remained part of Pakistan and adopted Urdu as their national language.
