Ten personnel of the Pakistan armed forces, including an officer, were martyred in two separate attacks in North Waziristan tribal district and Balochistan, the military's media wing said on Saturday.

In the first incident, six Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred when terrorists from across the Afghan border opened fire on a border patrolling party near Gurbaz area of North Waziristan district.

"Terrorists from across the border fire raided on Pakistan Army border patrolling party [...] 6 soldiers embraced shahadat," a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) read.

The deceased soldiers include Havaldar Khalid, Sepoy Naveed, Sepoy Bachal, Sepoy Ali Raza, Sepoy Mohammad Babar and Sepoy Ahsan.

In the second incident, four armed forces personnel were martyred when a contingent of Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan troops was fired upon by militants during a combing/sensitisation operation between Hushab and Turbat, the ISPR said in a second press release.

The troops martyred in Balochistan include Capt Aqib, Sepoy Nadir, Sepoy Atif Altaf and Sepoy Hafeezullah.

The martyrdom of six soldiers on the Pak-Afghan border and of four in Balochistan "is the sacrifice Pakistan [is] making for peace in the region", ISPR Director General Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted.

He said while the security of the tribal areas has been improved with efforts now focused on solidifying the western border, inimical forces are attempting to destabilise Balochistan.

"Their efforts shall [InshAllah] fail," Maj Gen Ghafoor said.

Sad times - but Pakistan needs to act with a calm and cool head

Expecting more such attacks as Pakistan move forward to strengthen its position as primary regional power on Western border with Afghanistan.

inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon

RIP my brothers...

Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Illahi Rajiyoon

As the COAS said, this is more then likely the last bit of resistant from these pests (soon all of them will be exterminated).

hue and cry on other thread for some lifafa journalist, but not for soldiers who sacrifice thre lives for our future.

And then some people here want Army out of Baluchistan. Shame you wont see them here.

When will the wall on Afghan border will be completed ? Make sure we kick out all the refuges out before we shut the door, let India take care of them.

inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi rajioon

Extremely sad to hear of this loss of life.

Lets hope a full investigation is carried out and we can learn who these terrorists were and which groups they belonged to. The current explanation of events given by COAS is quite vague.

Why is so little response to this thread? Dont Pakistan care about the lives of army men?

no they dont care, see above .

they are more concerned about some unknown lifafa journalist gt handcuffed, as if he was some kind of VIP.
even VIP should get the treatment of common man.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon. RIP, read some horrible stories including one soldier who was about to get married next month :(

Of course terrorists and their sponsors in our neighbouring countries are striking back in response to US visit and Pakistan's role in Afghanistan.

As usually those who spend entire lives demonizing these soldiers are nowhere to be seen because these lives don't matter to them, most of them think Pakistan Army kills their soldiers (they even accuse them of killing their own kids in APS).

RIP.

Sub continent needs to find peace and work together to develop and give their residents a better standard of living. I hope and pray one day there will be peace in sub continent. Hopefully in my life time.

Yes this young Captain Aqib was slated to be married on August 24th. May Allah grant him the highest rank in Jannah Ameen

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajioon.

I know things are very complicated if foreign countries are involved in these terror attacks but sometimes you really want the Pak army to send 3-4 fighter jets and retaliate the attacks, no matter in which country these animals are operating from.

Extremely sad to see the pictures of the brave soldiers and officer who laid down their lives selflessly for their nation.

May God embrace them and grant them eternal peace.

Just cant begin to imagine the pain their families are going through.

Zero mercy for terrorists.

3 soldiers martyred in firing by terrorists in Balochistan's Panjgur: ISPR

Three soldiers were martyred and eight others injured when terrorists opened fire on security forces in Balochistan's Panjgur district, the military's media wing said on Tuesday.

The militants carried out the "fire raid" when the security personnel were on routine patrol near Gichak valley in Panjgur's Kahan area, according to an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement.

The injured soldiers include an officer. Five of the injured security personnel are in critical condition, the statement said.

The injured soldiers have been evacuated to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Quetta.

The incident comes two days after four soldiers of the Pakistan Army were martyred during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in North Waziristan, according to the ISPR. Four terrorists were shot dead by security forces during the operation.

In May, seven soldiers were martyred in two separate terror attacks in Balochistan.

In the first incident, terrorists targeted a vehicle of the Frontier Corps (FC) in Mach using improvised explosive devices (IEDs), claiming the lives of six Pakistan Army soldiers.

In the second attack in Kech, a soldier was martyred in an exchange of fire with militants.

Ina lillahi wa Inna ilaihi rajioon

But they seriously need to stop doing these patrolling missions in unarmored cars. IED's were a problem in Afghanistan and the Americans reinvented their entire patrolling arsenal and we still keep sending these jawans out in double cabins with sandbags and a guy standing on top with a machine gun.

It's just saddening that these people have to lose their lives in this manner.

Invest in inventing gear that keeps these people safe and better strategies instead of tried, tested, and failed patrolling routes that have become obsolete in modern terrorism warfare.

Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rajiun.

Being a soldier in that part of region must be a nightmare.

Three soldiers martyred in South Waziristan operation

Three Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred after terrorists opened fire at security forces during a search operation in South Waziristan, a district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

“Terrorists fire raid at security forces blocking position during a search operation in South Wazirstan,” a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

The martyred soldiers are identified as Subedar Nadeem, Sepoy Saleem and Lance Naik Musawar.

Four other soldiers have also sustained injuries during the incident, the militray’s media wing added.

Last week, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa had said it required joint efforts of all stakeholders to retain “hard earned” peace in the tribal areas as he visited troops busy in consolidation operations along the Pak-Afghan border in Dawatoi sector, an area of K-P’s North Waziristan district.

“Recent consolidation operations along Pak-Afghan border ensured effective area domination of some inaccessible pockets of land which were being sporadically used by terrorists as hideouts to target local populace and security apparatus in the rear areas,” the ISPR said.

Security forces kill five wanted terrorists in North Waziristan

(Karachi) At least five wanted terrorists have been killed by security forces during an operation in North Waziristan, a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday stated.

According to ISPR, an intelligence based operation was carried out in Mir Ali area of the region where an exchange of firing occurred between the security forces and terrorists. During the crossfire, wanted militant identified as Waseem Zakaria was killed along with his five accomplices while 10 other terrorists were taken into custody.

The statement added that Zakaria was involved in numerous attacks and had masterminded at least 30 operations against the security forces. He was directly involved in the target killings of security personnel and attacks on government institutions.

Waseem Zakaria hailed from Haider Khel area of Mir Ali, the ISPR stated.

On September 6, three suspected terrorists from the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in a gun battle with members of security forces in South Waziristan.

According to police, clashes between security forces and the insurgents took place in the Shahsur Kaskai area of Servekai tehsil. They said that TTP militants attacked a military convoy which triggered the exchange of fire between the two sides.

Three militants were killed in the exchange of fire. They were identified as Shamsuddin, Rehmatullah and Adil Khan.

Armed forces kill terrorist commander Ihsan Sanray, three others, in 'breakthrough' operation

Four terrorists, including militant commander Ihsanullah alias Ihsan Sanray, were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO), the army's media wing said on Sunday.

The operation was carried out in Ghariom, Shaktu, near the inter-district boundary of North and South Waziristan, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Maj Gen Babar Iftikhar said in a tweet.

The slain terrorist commander Ihsanullah was the mastermind behind several terrorist activities, the ISPR said. Recently, he had planned terrorist attacks in Shaktu which led to the martyrdom of several soldiers as well as officers, including Lt Nasir and Capt Sabih.

Last week, the armed forces had killed terrorist mastermind Waseem Zakeria and four of his accomplices in an IBO in North Waziristan.

The forces had also arrested 10 militants during the operation near Mirali. According to an ISPR statement, Zakeria was the mastermind of 30 attacks, including the targeted killings of government officials and security forces personnel.

Zakeria was also believed to be involved in the assassination of Zubaidullah Khan, a CSP officer of the Federal Information Group, posted as director of the Pakistan Housing Authority in Islamabad.

Four terrorists killed in Balochistan, multiple hideouts and administrative camps destroyed: ISPR

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday that four terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted by security forces in the central Makran range of Awaran district in Balochistan.

In a press release today, the ISPR said that the four terrorists were killed in exchange of fire, while the hideout, including logistic base has also been destroyed.

The ISPR further said that a large cache of arms, ammunition and communication equipment were also recovered from the base. “Multiple hideouts and administrative camps of terrorists have been destroyed,” the military’s media wing said.

On September 13, terrorist commander Ihsan Ullah alias Ihsan Sanray along with three others were killed during an IBO near the inter district boundary of North and South Waziristan.

“He was involved in planning and execution of terrorist attacks in Shaktu area which led to martyrdom of several soldiers and officers including Lt Nasir (Shaheed), and Capt Sabih (Shaheed),” the ISPR said.

Twelve security personnel were martyred in two separate attacks in Balochistan's Gwadar district and the North Waziristan tribal district, it emerged on Thursday.

In the first incident, at least six security personnel were martyred in a militant attack on a convoy of state-run Oil & Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) on the Makran Coastal Highway in Ormara, Balochistan on Thursday, state broadcaster Radio Pakistan reported.

The security personnel lost their lives when terrorists opened fire on them on the highway in Gwadar.

Security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation, the report said.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Prime Minister Imran Khan in a statement condemned the attack on the OGDCL convoy and sought a report into the incident, according to another Radio Pakistan report.

The premier expressed grief with the families of the martyred personnel of security agencies.

Balochistan is key to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, part of Beijing's regional Belt and Road infrastructure initiative.

The corridor seeks to connect China's western province of Xinjiang with Gwadar, giving Beijing access to the Arabian Sea.

Last year in April, at least 14 people, including 11 personnel of Navy, Air Force and Coast Guards, were killed by gunmen after they were picked out with the help of their computerised national identity cards (CNICs) and offloaded from seven buses in the Buzi Pass area near Ormara.

The incident had taken place on the Makran Coastal Highway linking Karachi with the port city of Gwadar. The buses were going to Gwadar from Karachi.

An alliance of three banned militant organisations — the Balochistan Liberation Front, Balochistan Republican Army and Baloch Republican Guard — had claimed responsibility for the killings.

IED attack in NW
In the second incident, six Pakistan Army personnel were martyred in a "terrorist" bomb attack near Razmak area of North Waziristan, the military's media wing said on Thursday.

It said a convoy of security forces was attacked through an improvised explosive device (IED), resulting in the martyrdom of one officer and five soldiers.

The martyred personnel were identified by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) as Capt Umar Farooq, aged 24 years; Naib Subedar Riaz Ahmed, aged 37 years; Naib Subedar Shakeel Azad, aged 44; Havaldar Younas Khan, 36; Naik Muhammad Nadeem, 37; and Lance Naik Asmat Ullah, aged 30 years.

'Encounters' between sec*u*rity forces and militants have frequently been taking place in North Waziristan. Secu*rity forces have killed several suspected hardcore terrorists in recent clashes.

The latest incident comes four days after two soldiers were martyred and three others sustained injuries in an attack on a security post in Shawal valley of North Waziristan.

Officials said militants attacked the post in the Manra Mendara area adjacent to South Waziristan district. They said militants fired rockets in the pre-dawn attack on the post which left two soldiers martyred and three others wounded.

Last month, security forces had killed four terrorists, including militant commander Ihsanullah alias Ihsan Sanray, in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in what was termed as a "major breakthrough" by the ISPR.

The operation was carried out in Ghariom, Shaktu, near the inter-district boundary of North and South Waziristan.

That IBO had come days after wanted terrorist Waseem Zakeria was killed during an intelligence operation in North Waziristan along with four accomplices.

Ten notorious terrorists were also arrested during the operation near Mirali, the ISPR had said at the time. It said Zakeria was the mastermind of 30 attacks, including the targeted killing of government officials and security forces personnel.

Zakeria was also believed to be involved in the assassination of Zubaidullah Khan, a CSP officer of the Federal Information Group, posted as director of the Pakistan Housing Authority in Islamabad.

The killing of the senior civil officer in Mirali had raised concerns about the state of security in once-volatile North Waziristan which has seen an uptick in attacks on security forces since the Zarb-i-Azb operation in June 2014.

A lawmaker from the tribal district had told the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in September that 200 people had lost their lives to targeted killings since February 2018. There was, however, no official corroboration or denial of the claim by the lawmaker.

Pak Army soldier martyred in terror attack near Turbat

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army soldier embraced martyrdom on Saturday while three others were injured in an exchange of fire with terrorists near Turbat, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

According to the ISPR, the terrorists opened fire at the security forces patrolling near a post that is 35km South-East of Turbat.

“Lance Naik Waseem Ullah embraced shahadat, while three soldiers got injured,” the ISPR added.

The Turbat incident took place two days after terrorists attacked security forces on the Coastal Highway near Ormara.

7 soldiers martyred in terrorist 'fire raid' on FC post in Balochistan's Harnai: ISPR

Seven soldiers were martyred in a gun attack on a Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan post in Harnai district of Balochistan, the military's media wing said on Sunday.

The "terrorist fire raid" targeted an FC post located in Shahrag area of Harnai late on Saturday.

"During [an] intense exchange of fire, seven brave soldiers embraced shahadat while repulsing raiding terrorists," an Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said.

It said the area had been cordoned off and escape routes blocked to apprehend the fleeing miscreants.

A large scale search and clearance operation was in progress in the area.

"Such cowardly acts by inimical elements backed by anti-state forces will not be allowed to sabotage hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan," the ISPR said, adding that security forces were determined to "thwart their nefarious designs at all costs".

In a tweet, Prime Minister Imran Khan said he was "saddened to hear of" the soldiers' martyrdom in the attack.

"My heartfelt condolences & prayers go to their families. Our nation stands with our courageous soldiers who face attacks from Indian backed terrorists," he wrote.

Education minister Shafqat Mahmood also said he was "very grieved to learn about the martyrdom of 7 of our soldiers defending the motherland".

The martyred personnel were identified as Naib Subedar Gulzar, resident of Mianwali; Sepoy Faisal, resident of Hafizabad; Sepoy Abdul Wakeel, resident of Pishin; Sepoy Sher Zaman, resident of Kohat; Sepoy Jamal, resident of Dera Bugti; Abdul Rauf, resident of Dera Ghazi Khan; and Faqeer Muhammad, resident of Muzaffargarh.

The incident comes five days after 10 suspected terrorists were killed in a gun battle with security forces during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan's Awaran area.

“These terrorists were involved in firing on security forces, which resulted in martyrdom of Lance Naik Mohammad Iqbal on Dec 20 in the Awaran area,” the ISPR had said at the time.

Earlier in October, 14 security men — seven personnel of the Frontier Corps and as many civilian guards employed by the OGDCL — were martyred in an armed attack on their convoy on the Coastal Highway in the Ormara area of Gwadar district.

The encounter took place between security forces and a large number of terrorists on the Coastal Highway near Ormara when a convoy of the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) staff was being escorted from Gwadar to Karachi.

At least seven soldiers were killed in an attack by unidentified gunmen in southwestern Pakistan, the military said.

The assailants attacked a security post in Balochistan province’s Harnai district early on Sunday, the military’s media wing, the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement.

Senior police officer Shawli Tareen gave a slightly higher death toll than the army, saying that during the exchange of fire, six paramilitary personnel and two private guards were killed.

He said six other soldiers were critically wounded in the attack.

The attackers fled the scene and made their way into the mountainous terrain before other security teams could arrive to assist, Tareen said.

The attack on the Frontier Corps comes a day after a bomb exploded near a football field, killing two spectators and wounding another six in Panjgur district in southwestern Balochistan.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for either attack.

Similar attacks in the past have been claimed by separatist groups in the area. Other armed groups also operate in the region.

Balochistan, which shares borders with both Afghanistan and Iran, is Pakistan’s largest and most volatile province.

It faces a multifaceted threat from several armed groups, including the Taliban and other movements seeking the province’s secession from Pakistan.

Other targets of the groups include projects initiated by China under a $62bn investment plan are common.

Violence, however, has declined significantly in Pakistan in recent years, after the country’s army pushed back armed groups in a series of offensives near the border.

At least 14 soldiers martyred in Gwadar ambush

At least 14 soldiers of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom when their convoy, moving from Pasni to Ormara in Balochistan’s Gwadar district, was ambushed by terrorists on Friday, the military said.

“On November 3, 2023, two vehicles of security forces moving from Pasni to Ormara in Gwadar District, were ambushed by the terrorists. 14 soldiers embraced shahadat in the unfortunate incident,” the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

The military’s media wing said sanitisation operation is being carried out in the area and vowed that perpetrators of this heinous act will be hunted down and brought to justice.

“Security forces of Pakistan are determined to eliminate the menace of terrorism from the country and such sacrifices of our brave soldiers further strengthen our resolve,” it maintained.

In late September, at least 60 people, including a policeman, died and 60 others were injured when a suicide bomber targeted an Eid Miladun Nabi procession in the remote district of Mastung, Balochistan.

The attack took place during the preparations for Friday prayers and celebrations of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) birth anniversary.
