ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Air Force (PAF) jets joined an anti-terrorist operation near Pak-Afghan border late Tuesday night, leaving several militants dead, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

“PAF engaged terrorists’ concentration late last night in Rajgal area, Khyber Agency – bordering Afghanistan. Many terrorists killed. Hideout destroyed,” a statement issued by the army’s media wing said.

According to the ISPR, a number of militant’ hideouts were also destroyed during the air pounding.

Pakistan has been hit by a series of suicide bomb attacks in recent days, claiming more than 100 lives.

At least 88 people were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up at the Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine in Sindh’s Sehwan town last week.

In response, Pakistan launched a security crackdown, killing over 100 militants.

“Both the federal and provincial law enforcement authorities and police started a crackdown across the country before dawn, and scores of suspects have been arrested from different cities,” a government official speaking on condition of anonymity said. He said the sweeping operation will continue for the coming days.

Sending these rats on an express flight to meet their Maker.

Well its not going to bring back the 100+ massacred last week but its something.

Let's see whether some of the militants enjoying safe haven in Punjab are going to have a glove laid on them too.

why is it always after attacks these hideouts are destroyed. Surely there must be intelligence on these sanctuaries for a quite a while but it takes a tragedy for actions to take place.

The bigger question is why is every so called crackdown and operation left unfinished? There's a much publicized "crackdown" after every attack and apparently there's a new operation called raad ul something which begs the question as to what happened to all the previous ones and why are we seeing 2006 level violence 11 years on.

Maybe because those operations were confined to Swat or areas of FATA. A nationwide operation has never been undertaken before now.

Some people just act like know-it-all defence tajziya nigaar, but their breath of knowledge is not greater than any layman on the street.

So Zarb e Fail was limited in scope? Because from what I remember, it was supposed to be the operation to end all operations and as recently as last month you couldn't go twenty minutes without some breaking news or paid ad informing us that TTP's back has been broken. Besides, last I checked Bajaur was in FATA which is where most of the operations have been so how was their support network there still intact? Literally the only operation where the ground realities match what the khakis have claimed is the one in Buner. That said, kudos to TTP for being able to maintain an operational capacity comparable to the peak of their powers in 2006 despite that broken back we keep hearing about, must be supermen.

Any layman on the street is still better informed than some random guy two continents away, and by a huge margin at that, as in not even in the same ballpark, but sure, whatever makes you feel better.

You seem to know alot more than the intelligence agencies and know exactly how to go about fixing this terrorism issue, why don't you pick up arms and start hunting these dogs?

I don't, I just know that the intelligence agencies don't always act on what they know. Besides, much as I'd love to pick up a gun and go Rambo on them, there's the small matter of being outnumbered a few hundred thousand to one, not to mention the inevitably running into the same intelligence agencies once TTP is done with and the other big fish, LeJ is targeted.

If Pak is not going to take action then the terrorists will continue to wage war on the nation. We have seen pictures of PAF bombing terrorist den's in Afghanistan. It is not possible to show pictures of each operation and bombing. It is obvious that Afghanistan in cahoots with RAW and India doesn't care, let PAF do their work for them.
