What's new

The 3rd Test between Australia and India ends in a draw with India on 334/5

Pant is taking them to the cleaners. What batting. What shots. “ pants on fire”

Gilly hardly lost balance as Pant..not good to compare em..

Question is can India get close to this target. If they do, they definitely are one of the best asian team who does well overseas.

Pujara came to crease wayyyyyyyy before Pant, and now Pant is on 72 while Pujara is on 33 :))

Was out all day just came back and WOW. What a fightback from India! Pantians and Pantaloons unite! :sarf2

Why are people claiming that india can’t score at 3.2-3.3 an over for rest of the day 385) 7 wickets in hand and what looks like a flat wicket

Commies touched on this.

Pretty much emphasized the fact that Pant told Pujara you play for a draw, I'll play for the win.

Both are playing their roles.

Because India managed 248 on this track and a new ball is due?No jaddu either..

In terms of chess Pujara is king Pant is queen. Pant has all the moves but Pujara is the centerpiece and the difference between losing.

Going to sleep now....I recon I’ll wake up to a historic Indian win at the SCG in the morning

Kohli would be very proud of this team esp if they win.

Don’t think he’ll be bitter, that’s not him. He’s big hearted like :afridi

Becoming a father for the first time is a special moment.

This break could really be the game changer for Australia especially for a momentum player like Pant

Lunch break would help Aussies more. As a batsman when everything is coming off as intended you want to keep going for as long as possible.

Interestingly I think Kohli wouldn’t have been a good batsman for this situation

Because they have to keep it up for 70 overs, when wickets fall, against a new ball, in the 4th innings in what would be one of the highest 4th inning chases for India ever.

If India wins this it’ll be the greatest test match and series victory by an Asian team in SENA ever. I just want a close game with no draw

Yes it will. But rarely do you get a pitch as flat as this on the last day either which is why there aren’t such run chases. Obv tall order

Probably second behind Sri Lanka’s in South Africa in Durban

Nope.. atleast thats what was said yesterday..

I did read somewhere that he will bat if required. If a situation arises where last wicket is down and India needs a few overs to survive you could very well see Jadeja come out.

They said that in commentary

In India can resist the second ball, this game will go to the wire.

Because of what's to come. If Pant goes, who's gonna score the runs?

Pujara has batted the best he has this tour, but there's a limit to him being able to keep up with 3.5 an over.

Then you have the option of a draw. Vihari hasn't shown anything to suggest that he can bat out a session and a half. So it's literally one wicket away from a loss.

The pitch already doesn't look so easy when Lyon is bowling - it's just that Pant has taken the pitch out of the equation while stepping down and smashing him.

Once, (or if :smith ), they get a breakthrough, the Aussie bowlers will make the pitch look demonic.

If jadeja batting required he will be batting after taking injection but only bat when o 10-12 over left. He can't play for entire session

Really? I think Game will be over in 2nd session itself

In reality aussies are a wicket away from winning. If Jadeja was fully fit I would say two then

Jadeja has to come out surely. Who cares about injuries or whatever. This it it. This is what it comes down to

Lyon is the only spinner I have seen since Saqlain Mushtaq in 1999 test series who seems like picking a wicket every ball he bowls. India had played against Warne, Murali, Herath, Swann etc. but no one troubled us more than Nathan Lyon. Terrific bowler and best I have seen since Saqi.

Great credit to India, to think their missing a few of their gun players, I think rehannie as a captain has got the best out of the younger brigade with such a calming influence, personally i think let him captain the test side and let kohli just concentrate in his batting

Pant reminds me Sehwag to an extent. A batsman who takes calculative risk in test cricket and it pays off. But an under acheiver in shorter formats because like Sehwag, he tries to hit every ball for six and gets out.

I see a great test batsman in Pant and would try him as an opener as I believe he can have that Sehwag effect on top. If Ganguly was skipper...he surely would have taken this gamble.

Pant will surpass Sehwag in LOIs. Not that difficult to do considering Sehwags slightly above average legacy in ODIs

Actually maybe I’m being too harsh on sehwag. Sehwag was still an excellent ODI opener just not a great like in Tests

2013 series Where Dhoni Scored Double century .he was treated like Street bowler by Dhoni ,His figure was 47 over 214 Runs . after that series he become gun bowler.

The beauty of Lyon is the lengths that he bowls. He is one of the greatest spinners in the history of the game when it comes to his lengths. Especially recently

Starc is an average test bowler

pink ball/lois specialist of sort
