Last year india's test matches were played on green top and still most matches went till 4th and 5th day except one test (lords)
Rain coming as a blessing for England.
All wickets in England will have a bit of grass due to the damp climate.
They looked like standard English wickets to me. They don’t change much over time. Lords is usually low and slow (though the new groundsman left some grass on against Ireland), OT takes a bit of spin later on, Headingley used to be a minefield but is now a shirtfront in comparison, Oval is a bit bouncier and takes spin later, OT is a green seamer.
Wherever you go in England you will get variations on ‘slow seamer’. Usually the new ball swings a bit depending on the atmosphere.
Headingley : No Smith , will England opt for a grassy surface ?
“England” has no say in the matter.
The Headingley groundsman will do the best he can to provide a surface that will last five days and make for a good contest between bat and ball, given the weather.
I understand that Leeds is the fastest test track in England these days. Should be true bounce and good carry.
Bat or bowl first?
Why do i get a feeling that this is the end of James Anderson’s career?
Maybe a premature statement but i think Archer is the ideal player to replace Anderson.
England have a good pace/swing attack with Archer’s hostility, Broad the wise old head cutting in about and hitting the top of off, Stokes and Wilkes swinging it and hopefully Curran as a lefty option.
OT Manchester - seems we will have rain interruptions in this Test too .
Yep the attack has all bases covered, if it really is the end for jimmy then he should a farewell game to give him a well earned send off for a magnificent career

He’s out of the series. Probably the end.
I think Anderson should retire now. His replacement (Archer) is much better option currently.
Anderson's role in the team is as a swing bowler, archer a shock bowler, Andersons like for like replacement is woaks who with respect is not in Andersons league
Woakes’ figure in England are similar to Anderson’s and Woakes can bat too. Though I would get in Curran for the last two tests to hit the Aussies with something different.
Australia should rest Pat Cummins now, they don't want him breaking down. Also rest Hazlewood.
They should also give Carey a go in place of Head or Wade.

At least one of Cummins or Hazlewood should play if Australia want to ensure a win at the Oval. Every test matters now and resting both of them wouldn't be worth risking throwing away 16/24 points and an Away ashes series win.
