A real burger is a beef burger, and which is the best one you ever had?

In Canada, the best beef burger i had was 5 guys, as it was the only halal joint that sold beef burgers in toronto back than. In Pakistan, Hardees made good beef burgers. I also tried the whopper here when it started and it was quite good back when they started operations in Pakistan.

Name your best Beef Burger, which restaurant specifically. Also, if in Pakistan, than where exactly.

I don't think Five Guys is halal. Not in Canada.

Right now Mini Moe's in Scarborough has the best Juicy Lucy in town 👌

I always wanted to try a beef whooper outside of Pakistan.

I don’t know about whooper, I’m guessing that can be good too if that’s your thing but whoppers are definitely very delicious

Driving back after completing the NC500 in 2018, we did a pitstop at Inverness. The Smashburger at a small family run burger joint called Coyote still tops the charts, it was absolutely epic.

hahahha, come on man, spelling mistakes can happen. Early days in pakistan when BK entered Pindi/Islamabad, i had a whopper and it was soo good. But BK started to fall. Quality control was terrible and now their burgers are just disgusting in Pakistan.

They have gone down in overall sales in the US as well to be honest. Arbys is doing pretty good these days.

A shout out to the beef anda shami burger of pakistan. Something that you wont find anywhere else in the subcontinent.

Best one I had was at Fudruckers in Qatar when I lived there. Used to go there once a month lol.

Massive portion size. You can customize p much everything. Got the Jalapeño beef burger p much every time tho.

I feel like a lot of American restaurants that open overseas do far better in terms of quality and service in middle eastern countries.

I had it in Dubai Mall at McDonalds 🤣

Didn’t like it as maybe my pallet isn’t used to the taste of beef so i am sticking with Chicken burgers only.

Try Fuoco’s beef burgers in Islamabad. The best I have had in Pakistan.

Thanks man. Will try.

Alot of beef burgers made here have that smell of beef and they dont clean it with ginger or garlic. And they try to cover it with sauces

You cannot compromise on the quality of beef. Cost is the biggest issue.

In Pakistan, steaks and burgers are overloaded with sauces because of subpar quality of beef.

True, but that beef taste and smell can be removed if ginger and garlic is used to clean it.

Over the years alot of people have used money but dont know how to make the actual product

My top hamburgers/cheeseburgers would be:
1. Smashburger
2. Five Guys
3. Fuddruckers
4. Arbys

It's the same in most cheaper joints even outside of Pakistan. To get a quality beefburger you have to pay decent money, and generally go to a specialist burger joint. The vast majority of cheap and cheerful fast food shops in desi areas are often serving bought in frozen patties which are not much fun after the first bite. You would be better off just sticking to the fried chicken burgers.

Bro, they aren't even close to any of the best burgers sold in GTA area.

None of these chain fast food joint come close to most of the halal burger joint.

Same goes to NYC, so many halal option that are fresh and better than 99% of the chain fast food joint.

im sure of that. my view is from the american standpoint. there are a lot more hole in the wall kind of places i have tried that tasted pretty good.

A local burger stand in Bham.

He allowed me to make the burger myself.

3 x 3oz premium angus beef (from Scotland) patties, in a brioche bun, with tomato, lettuce, double cheese, gherkins and jalepeno mayo. With crunchy chips.

Places like Mcdonalds, Burger king, etc are disgusting, never eat such cheap food like this.

Best burger i've had was homemade - Korean BBQ Chicken Burger I made myself after watching a video on youtube. Sumptuous !

but they are cheap. i dont even know if its real beef or if they chopup the bones and fat and call it meat. lol

Also very filthy, usually with fat teenagers who have little hygiene.

I agree BEEF is the only real meat for burgers, these chicken burgers can be decent but not really a burger imo.

I compare beef burger to Test cricket and chicken burger to ODI.

All other burgers are T20 or The Hundred.

patty and bun in london years ago, the quality has fallen off a cliff since, equal second black lock off menu burger and red dogs spicy burger, both amazing and uniquely flavoured.

i do not trust anyone who thinks five guys is a world class burger, its very average (being kind) for the price, in London at least.

and for all its shortcomings the BK angus, at the price point is pretty good, but the best budget beef burger ive had is from my local turkish, freshly made, salad and sauces to spec.

Accidentally ate once and did find particularly tasty. I know I am not missing out on beef. Pretty overrated.

if posters are gonna come here and say they make their owns at home........ than atleast do bother to share your recipi. Would love to experiment on them by getting some cow meat

angus, ok so you know your burgers.

Tell me something, is it ok for a beef burger to have that cow smell and taste or does it need to be cleaned with ginger and garlic?

Because alot of joints make burgers that taste disgusting due to their beef not being cleaned, but some joints that do cleaned their beef with ginger and garlic dont have that disgusting natural beef taste and is cooked well..

I noticed that, afghan/shinwari restaurants actually clean their beef properly and remove such smell and taste

But should the beef patty or even steak have that weird taste of beef, or does it need to be eliminated? How does it work in UK?

No cow smell at all. The beef is premium quality, stored properly and then washed properly before adding the pepper or whatever spice you prefer. It was a smash burger, where the patties are squashed down flat and cooked to a time on the right temperature. I think washing and storing it wrongly is causing this.

Are smash burgers in Pakistan?

Why are you missing out? The combination of a beef patty with tomato and cheese is one of the best flavours on Earth.

they have smash burgers in pakistan, but the issue here the person who opens the restaurant has no idea how these foods are to be made.

He will pick a cheap cook and teach him the recipi, but the cook and the business owner dont know that your beef needs to be clean by removing the cow smell and taste. Finding a burger joint in Rawalpindi/Islamabad is a very difficult task, and you end up wasting alot of money experimenting.

My mom makes great beef ragu sauce. Usually, i dont like to eat Eid meat because people dont rinse the blood properly, nor leave it out to dry thus that smell and taste stays there and is abit difficult to remove it. This time around, our family got our own cow and my uncle did the meat cleaning himself, 0 smell, and i decided to risk 1/2 kg mince for ragu sauce and it came out good.

So yeh, you are right washing and storing matters, but ginger and garlic can also be used to clean anything left on it.

We have hardees(Carls jr) here, although expensive but they make good burgers. But in pindi/islamabad still experimenting.

Back in 2003-2007, this rice restaurant called savour foods started their cafe and made beef burgers which were the best burger i had in my life. They closed down their cafe and started selling fried chicken.

Red meat can easily go off, will taste off and also a risk to health.

I would make them at home in Pakistan. But when im in Pakistan, I dont eat fast food apart from Pizza, as there are too many great Pakistani restaurants.

Its a shame as Pakistan has amazing breeds of cows ,which produce quality beef .

Accidentally ate once and did find particularly tasty. I know I am not missing out on beef. Pretty overrated.

Since you tried it only once, you are probably not in a position to call it "overrated". Maybe once you try it 5-6 times (from different places), you can give a verdict.

Jessie’s in Islamabad used to have really good beef burgers back when they started as did Howdy in Gol Market. Both regressed though.

There are several new restaurants that do amazing beef burgers in Islamabad now but I haven’t tried many of them as they are either way overpriced or I don’t spend enough time in Islo anymore.

I recently had one of the best at Food Street Toronto in Scarborough. GTA is so pampered with Halal food options

Burger & Lobster or Hawksmoor from mid range. From the casuals Byrons or GBK. Alternatively a home made burger, Angus or Hereford- make sure buy the meat from an independent butcher or farmers market- pay a bit more but quality's amazing (although halal options might be limited in farmers market).

Wild buffalo & venison ones are quite good as well, not sure though if Halal options are avaialble.

Best beef burger was at Nusrat Istanbul.

I purchased 2 so ate one at the restaurant took the second home to the UK. Quick warm up under the grill still tasted amazing the next day.

Also a burger joint on Manningham Lane Bradford do a smashed burger with gold cheese which was also awesome.

As for PK i don’t eat beef only chivken after some bad stomach issues in the past

It was average in Manhattan, NY

Wow, taking the burger back to the UK is some dedication. Your backpack must have smelled great for days haha

For me, its SALT burger and Shake Shack in Dubai 🤤

The Bvrger

Two smashed smashed Wagyu beef patties, 24 karat gold cheese, gold sauce, lettuce, onion, gherkin, charcoal sesame bun. Served with seasoned skin on fries & a drink of your choice.

Bradford UK

Wagyu does melt in the mouth.

Best to order a wagyu cow direct from Japan just in time for qurbani

On a serious note bhai you don’t what you are missing as wagyu burger taste is unique

wagyu burgers are really really good. arbys have one which is seasonal but its really good.

Surprised to see no mention of ShakeShack yet. Arguably one of the better burgers I had. Five guys is good but for me Shake Shack is better. I love the banoffee milkshake from Five guys though.

I had one double shack and a single shack at the Covent Garden branch just on Tuesday :)
Love Shakeshack..

However, the best burger I have ever had has to be in Istanbul (in Besiktas)...
Its in a quiet residential road and was recommended by foodies... Hands down the best I've ever had.

Handcraft Burgers and Brew - NYC, USA

Emily: West Village - NYC, USA

Beast Burger - Chiang Mai, Thailand

Shake Shack - had it in many places including London, Istanbul and Dubai but the NYC one is the best

In'n'out Burger - California, USA

7th Street Burger - NYC, USA

Honest Burgers - London, UK

The Turks seem to do burgers right, even outside of Turkey. Burger King do a Steakhouse burger, I had one in Dalaman and was surprised how good it was. But I've had two outside of Turkey and they were both pretty bad, but with these chains it often depends on the how well trained the staff are.

the place we went to in Istanbul is called Akali Etiler

a really tiny place with hardly any seating, mainly two seater tables on the pavements outside... but boy were they the best burgers I've ever had

Stax diner in London before they got closed down earlier this year following the pandemic and the cost of living crisis we’ve experienced in recent years.

Best beef burgers?? I tell you what, they are not easy to find in Pakistan. Majority of beef burgers tend to be over spiced.

Even though the recipe for a good beef burger is simple.

Surprised Pakistan residents haven’t mentioned Mr. Burger. Heard it’s better than McDonalds etc etc when it comes to fast food type joints

Used to be. Now it has a small, loyal fan base but young ‘uns don’t care about it

BK Jani in Brooklyn. The guy is from lahore and has the best beef burger i have had anywhere in the world. If you ever visit, ask for "classic jani"
Nice. Going to nyc for work trip end of the month.

Is it dhaba type with poor hygeine standards or somewhere you can take American co workers?

If halal isn’t an issue Emily’s is great too

Oh yes Emily. Still dreaming about it.

In N Out is kinda overrated.

Believe me, all these Turkish burgers are quite disappointing, I already had multiple times, no taste and no spice makes them horrible.
Like someone else posted, a good burger comes down to good quality beef, the right amount of seasoning (salt & pepper), a soft (brioche) bun and a slice of cheese. Nothing else needed.

i wanted to have a good burger for some time but my current diet doesn't allow it, need some recommendation for a cheat meal when I reach my goal. Has anyone tried from Black Tap ? Thinking of trying their Burgers and Shakes.

There is TBC in Islamabad. Probably the best beef burger i had
