Speaking to media in his recent interview Fast Bowler Mohammad Asif made several statements that seem to reveal a lot things about the 2010 match Fixing Saga.
"If need be I can come and lecture youngsters against dangers of corruption."
"Its never the case that a bookie just shows up and gets the player to become corrupt; there are a good few years spent in making a relationship with the player."
"I don't know about Yousuf Anwar (bookie) as I had been away from cricket for 5 years".
"But if PCB knew about this guy, then they should have told the players to not get involved with him in any way."
"I wasn't involved for 2 years in my case, but the Bookie (Majeed) was with Butt for the past 2 years".
"There is a mafia of these bookies and they are spread all over the world."
"The bookie mafia is based in India which is common knowledge."
"But its spread to Pakistan as well so this is not confined to India any more."
"Shahid Afridi was already saying to us that he will retire from Test cricket as he was suited more for the shorter version of the game."
"You know Shahid Afridi is the type of player who will either send the ball out of park or leave the next ball himself."
"Amir has bowled well after his comeback with exception of the recent series in the UAE."
"Amir is not getting the support from the other end and he is unable to single-handedly win games for Pakistan."
"PCB would not have suspended these players without a good reason as if they are proven not guilty then they could have sued the PCB."
"Pakistan and India should play cricket as the world of cricket watches that with interest."
"There are political issues stopping that and I don't think their or our players have any problems playing against each other."
"The 2010 incident was the most tragic one in my life."
"The Shoaib Akhtar bat incident was more of a heat of the moment incident and we made up since then."
"The Karachi Test in which Irfan Pathan did a hatrick and we won that was the most memorable one for me."
