Not been bad in these competitions but the question is (like in investments), should past performance be used to override his current form which is absolutely horrible?

In that case lets call back Wasim Akram.
Shadab is done. Over and out.
He might be young, but his fitness is pathetic. He has gained some serious weight. His bowling has become club level. Even the basics are gone.He is young and still playing.
Selection should be on form. No good living on past glories. He might be young, but his fitness is pathetic. He has gained some serious weight. His bowling has become club level. Even the basics are gone.
But what can you expect? Playing non stop T20 cricket and running away from 4 day cricket.
For the sake of team green he takes the flight back home!Let's hope Shadab would make a fairy tale comeback for the sake of team green.
Shadab'a downfall came from the lack of longer format bowling which would have helped him develop more consistency in his action and understand how to set up batsmen.
He is barely spinning the ball, his variations are easier to read now, and given that he has not gone through a phase of rediscovering himself, he is at a standstill in his bowling career.
I said many months ago that a leg-spinner must be targetting the stumps. He rarely ever gets wickets bowled or LBW, meaning that batsmen make mistakes with their shots rather than Shadab outplaying them.
In fact, it's hard to even remember genuine 'beauties' that he has bowled in the recent past.
A spinner who is short of confidence and is not extracting enough spin.
If Shadab flops in this World Cup, I reckon he will need to earn his place through a long period of domestic toil in all formats.
You still ''think'' Shadab should be replaced and you still ''hope'' Shadab will find form?Shadab was amazing in the last two T20 World Cups. Delivered some clutch performances with bat and ball. But his current form to me feels alot like 2023 World Cup. I think right now you have to go with Abrar over Shadab and promote Imad in the batting line-up. Hopefully as the tournament progresses Shadab will find his form again.
His fitness is going downhill? How? Have you checked his body fat level? If anything, he has put on more muscle mass and become more jacked. You still ''think'' Shadab should be replaced and you still ''hope'' Shadab will find form?
Do you understand the bigger issue here?
His fitness is going downhill, he is playing non stop T20 cricket and ignores red ball/4 day cricket. How do you expect him to become a better bowler/fix his issues while playing non stop T20 cricket (at times in some seriously low level leagues)?
Please explain.
That may be true but he delivered in two big matches as well. Against South Africa at the last World Cup, and in the 2021 semi-final.When these stats are done, whoever is doing them needs to look at the wider picture rather than trying to blind people with numbers.
9 of his wickets are against Netherlands, Zimbabwe, Scotland and Namibia.
He has gained weight and no not muscles, you can clearly see that. Also that should not be a surprise because have you never seen what these guys are eating when behaving like tourists overseas? His fitness is going downhill? How? Have you checked his body fat level? You're a real genius for stating the obvious, sherlock. But I'm talking about the now. The World Cup has started and he is in the squad. If he is able to turn it on then Pakistan's chances of winning increase significantly. Because an in-form Shadab scores runs quickly, gives you big breakthroughs and takes blinders in the field. Pakistan don't have anyone else who is capable of shining in all three facets like Shadab.
I know that Pakistani people and people on this forum are deeply uninformed about nutrition and working out. There's nothing wrong with eating a burger or pizza as long as you're eating right and working out most times. Whatever you say about Shadab, his fitness has always been outstanding. He has gained weight and no not muscles, you can clearly see that. Also that should not be a surprise because have you never seen what these guys are eating when behaving like tourists overseas?
50% of his wickets were against minnows and that even years ago. He will get smashed vs better teams. Talking about now, yes now is the time to get rid of him, because it is guaranteed he will get smashed. I mean he conceded 50 plus vs Ireland!
Pas performances matter 0. This is the whole issue they become lazy and bank on fans hyping them on past perfomances.
Also not responding to the actual issue in my initial post.
Yes, because you write the scheme for Shadab for working out. Common sense is also a thing. Just compare him with a few years ago, clearly he has gained weight.I know that Pakistani people and people on this forum are deeply uninformed about nutrition and working out. You keep stating the obvious. Shadab needing to play more 4 day cricket is not a ground-breaking, revolutionary idea that you just came up with. Everyone, including myself agrees that he should. Shadab being in rubbish form is also something that everyone knows about.
I don't know if Shadab will find his form in this tournament or not. I hope he does. But writing him off is a really dumb thing to do. Then again, those are the extremes that most Pakistani fans live on I guess.
You have to gain weight to gain muscle mass.Yes, because you write the scheme for Shadab for working out. Common sense is also a thing. Just compare him with a few years ago, clearly he has gained weight.
Coming to his form. He has been pathetic for a very long time. Not just a few series. After the WC in India, he should have been sent to domestics. But this lot has no desire. Its fans like you who deserve such players.
Whatever should or shouldn't have happened, this is the squad we have.Yes, because you write the scheme for Shadab for working out. Common sense is also a thing. Just compare him with a few years ago, clearly he has gained weight.

That does not mean we just accept it. There is no merit in his selection. I can go on and on about it. There are so many reasons. For example you just have been trashed by your arch rivals (WC 2023 vs India). Shadab is seen laughing like a sheep and begging for a T shirt. Like a tourist/fanboy.Whatever should or shouldn't have happened, this is the squad we have.
his bowling has fallen apart completely - instead of those silly Army camps he should be in nets with spinning coaches making him bowl 25 overs a day . Always thought o him as a bowling all-rounder !Not been bad in these competitions but the question is (like in investments), should past performance be used to override his current form which is absolutely horrible?
