Amir likes to propogate the myth that the team management i.e. Misbah, Waqar and the PCB were cold, unfair and biased against him and were never going to select him to play for Pakistan again.
Both Amir and Wahab decided to leave the longer format of the game by the middle of 2019. Amir was still a young man at 27 but Wahab was already 35 years old and hence on much more thinner ground. Most countries move on from pacers once they hit 35 years old plus.
But Wahab kept his mouth shut and strictly focused on the game playing each and every league, cricket he had available at his disposal. Unlike Amir, he did not react to critical statements from Misbah, Waqar on how he abandoned the team in test matches and he focused strictly on his game. He like Amir too was out of the team for a very long time and was demoted to a C-D contract but he never threw his toys out of the prams and in the one opportunity he got in the T-20 game against England, his vital over against Moin Ali made the difference.
Amir was picked in a T-20 game against England and he looked ineffective, innocuous for 2 harmless overs against Bairstow before pulling his hamstring. Amir hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire in the T-20 leagues he has been playing in, his form has been inconsistent, in fact he has looked very ordinary in comparison to other pacers in the PSL, Domestic T-20 tournament and now even the Lankan Premier League and cheap 5 wicket hauls where batsmen were mostly hitting out at the end is not going to cut it.
Wahab still at 36 years old can race in and bowl at 142-145 km/hr whereas Amir at 28 years old is reduced to being a 128-133 km/hr trundler with zero swing, seam or pace.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out why the team management eventually regained their faith with Wahab but lost it with Amir.
It's also no surprise that the PCB itself did not hessitate to drop Amir from the team from 2018 onwards, his form was just not good enough to merit an automatic place in the team. There is honestly nothing for Pakistan to gain by playing the current Mohd Amir anymore, they are rightfully looking towards the future.
Amir has clearly done this under the impression he can win some sympathy points with the media and ex players. He was a centrally contracted player, i hope the PCB sue his ***.
