Its hilarious that for No.6 batting position the wannabe armchair experts of PP are considering fake allrounders like Shadab, Faheem and some openers who have never played at No.6 like Fakhar and Imam over Fawad Alam who has served in the middle order of domestic cricket for a decades.
In current available squad for England tour, he is the only option for that "particular" position. If Haris Sohail was available then one could have argued.

That's exactly the type of backing you need and help put your player in a positive mindset. I'll be watching if he makes it in the final 11 for the first test match.

Was never likely to be picked, so he really had to perform big in the warm-ups to give himself a chance to make it in. He didn't, and him not playing today is not a surprise.

Yes, but Abid had already cemented his position in the team from the previous series. I'm not saying Fawad doesn't deserve to play, I'm saying the reality is that management do not want to pick him, so the only chance of him playing was to score big in the warmups and he didn't.

The ship has sailed for Fawad. There are better alternatives to him in the domestics in a
Abdullah Shafiq and Haider Ali.
And at 7, Shadab provides more value due to his higher tempo and other all-round skills.
It is hard on fawad, but him not having a great career is a lesson for all kids to not bat like a hockey player.
Maybe, he might get a look in if ever Azhar or Asad get dropped. But personally speaking, I also watch cricket for the entertainment element, and watching Fawad is not something I would look forward to.

He didn't do himself any favours in the warmups. No real good scores.
Fawad Alam was never ever ever ever ever going to be selected, for the following reasons:
1. Misbah only selected him into the squad to stop the press from attacking him. He never intended to actually play him.
2. Misbah is the person who ruined his career in the first place. If you go back to 2011, Misbah blocked the entire middle order with himself and Younis (who were too old) and Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq (who were inferior batsmen to Fawad Alam and Umar Akmal, as was Misbah himself).
3. Pakistan now face the consequences of having invested in the wrong batsmen - Azhar and Shafiq instead of Fawad and Umar Akmal.
4. Fawad should have played every Test from 2011 until his own decline became obvious in 2016. But he has been in clear age-related decline himself, and it's impossible to avoid mentioning that until the best players departed for the tour of Australia last November, Fawad was 24th highest scorer in a 5 team competition. Then suddenly when the standard of the bowling plummeted with the good bowlers away, Fawad started scoring runs - but he still ended up with less runs than Sami Aslam and Imran Butt and Salman Butt, and only 1 more run than Zeeshan Malik.
So his ship has sailed. And Misbah is only keeping him in the squad as a human shield to protect himself from the press.

Some of the pper comments are full of biasness when they call Fawad Alam a hack even though he has 30+ FC centuries, 12000+ FC runs and 50+ FC average in his entire domestic career. But still most ppers don't want him in the team. Classic example of blind hate.
