According to Drikus Saaimon, the strength and conditioning coach for Pakistan, Shadab Khan is the fastest player in the Pakistan team with a recorded speed of 36 km/h.

This was mentioned by Saaimon in a PCB video.

"The fastest player, and you'll love this is Shadab, I've clocked him at 36 km/h. So it's rather quick. Between the stumps you are looking at 29-30 km/h which guys tend to achieve, and Babar during innings where the other night he scored 60, he got 5-6 kms out of that. Fakhar made 118 and he got 9 km, so you're looking at a km every 10-11 runs," Saaimon said.

Additionally, Saaimon also stated that Shaheen Shah Afridi, the fast bowler, covers a remarkable amount of distance during the game, which he described as being superhuman.

"Shaheen Shah is a super human, the amount of distance he covers in a match is just stupid. He covers around 7 km for a T20 at pace, and obviously a lot of that is in his run-up. His run-up pace is 29 km/h which is rapid," Saaimon added.

This OP is for all those that advocate for addition of unfit players like Sharjeel and Azam Khan.

Your speed could be the difference in fielding, running between the wickets and during pace bowling.

Watch the England vs New Zealand World Cup final. Watch the final 2 overs of the game and than watch the super over. The fielding by both teams was just perfect. They were gathering the ball and throwing it accurately to the keeper who would always be at the right position at the stumps to run some one out. There were 0 mistakes in the fielding of both sides during the final 2 overs and the supe over of both teams.

That run that Guptil ran for, had there been the slightest of mistake in throw because of fitness New Zealand would had won that game.

Good that Pakistan has hired a proper strength and conditioning coach who is more important than a fielding coach. His coaching will effect the fielding directly.

I think the fittest player we have is Shan Masood but I don't know why I don't find agility in him. Perhaps Shadab is the one who is very active and quick.

It was Abdullah Shafique until he became unfit to catch the ball

Babar is out dining all the time.
wrong habit, he is just 28 and by his looks he is looking more like a 36 type player

It seems like nobody is focusing on their fitness in the Pakistan team. You have another example of Imam ul Haq, he is also getting bulky.

Imam has pretty bad genes (fitness wise), doesn’t look like fitness runs in the family if we are honest. Some guys put on weight easily because of genetics, Imam definitely struggled with weight more than others.

Babar’s eating out habits are terrible. I think he goes out to eat every day, that’s so bad! Guy is a gifted batsman but he doesn’t value his talent

I put on weight easily and I work full time. I eat clean and train hard to stay in shape. No excuses for a full time athlete. He is simply consuming more than he is burning and with his weight he's been doing that for years.

You could also argue that if England had Sharjeel then they could’ve scored more in the Super Over.

how so? Your assumption is based upon the fact that Sharjeel may have dominated the bowlers. What if the bowler bowled well? Than the batsman will have to run for runs, which is where your fitness comes to place.

Than when England would had fielded and Sharjeel was in the field, Sharjeel would had been required to run and be on his toes to field the ball and have an accurate throw. For this you obviously need fitness.

NZ won the semi and took the finals to a nail bitter super over due to their fielding. That run out by Guptill on Dhoni was pure fielding masterclass. If there was even slight mistake or slight fitness issue on Guptills part, Dhoni would had easily made it to his crease.

Rizwan should be the fittest player along with Shan in the current pool of the Pakistan squad. The fastest one, still, I believe will be Shadab. Babar is not the fittest one in the squad nor Abdullah.

Shan Masood is by far the fittest player for Pakistan, yet he probably cost Pakistan 10-15 runs with his poor ground fielding in the test series, which would’ve take the pressure off for the batsman.

good fitness ≠ good fielder
