The fly KAMI in thread....

1) With Kami leading the runscoring charts in the domestic QEA trophy

I thought it would be good to run through a of Kami's TEST innings outside Pakistan.... to show what we are missing!

a) Lord 2010 V Aus

Chasing a large target....

gets 46.... we get close to the target.... then the tail collapses

b) Napier 2009 V NZ

gets 50 odd to arrest a collapse that would have resulted in us losing...

c) Wellington 2009 V NZ

Comes in at 130-5... gets 70 to lead us to 264... setting platform for victory....

d) Dunedin 2009 V NZ

NZ get 429 in 1st innings...

Comes in at 80-5.... has a nice partnership with Bro (and scores 82) resulting in a total of 332... we almost win the match!

e) Columbo 2009 vs SL

2nd inings comes in at 180-5.... gets 74 odd leading team to 425 and ultimately a draw...

f) Kolkata V India

India get over 600....

Pak 150-5 (again).... gets hundred... leads Pak to 456 and mtach drawn..

g) St Georges 07 Vs SA

Pak chasing 190 to win... Pak 90 for 5 (again)... scores 50 odd to lead Palk home...

h) Lords 06 V Eng

Eng score over 500...

Pak 300-6 ready to collapse.. scores 50 odd in partnership with Yousuf gets Pak to 450 odd...

i) Oh and do you remember Mohali?

He has averaged.....

35 in 05

38 in 07

10 in 10 (bad form - I give you that) Form is temp and class is permanent

The guy bats at 7... he is not a batting at no 4...

THE UPSIDE POTENTIAL IS UNBELIEVABLE!

We need people who are MENTALLY STRONG! KAMI IS ONE OF THOSE...

2) Lets focus on keeping.... its the keeping that needs to get better....

In the last few years his problems have been in patches when people start getting on top of him when he makes a mistake... like a goalie who makes some errors....

I am convinced that with the right coaching his keeping WILL return to high standards!
 
I hope :kami is flying to NZ for the ODI's....

He is desperately needed!!!!
 
Kami is back.....

But if he is FAT.....

He should fly back out again!

There is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE for being FAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, this just proves that it's only until the player is out of the team do fans start calling for them back. U Akmal isn't a specialist and may shell some chances at very important stages.. wonder if people will want Kamran to return then.

It's time for the fans and PCB to move on. Find a better replacement. Surely there's a wicketkeeper in domestic cricket that can give an average of 25-30 at the international stage and be a real keeper. Adnan looks fine for Tests and Umar for T20s, find an ODI replacement. If Kamran wants to make the squad, he should as a batsman.

We are better off with him in the team! He had a bad day...

So did AKHTAR

So did REHMAN

So did RAZZAQ

And a number of others for that matter!

The only reason you dont ask them to be kicked out is because they help the team succeed on other days....

We need to realise that we are not an excellent team at the mo.

We need to make the most of what we have, rather than criticising and asking for changes that will make the team WORSE.

We could play with 11 batsman and we will never be able to chase a BIG score consistently. We don't have excellent batsman. full stop.

The only chance we have of winning games consistently is through making the opposition score a low total through our bowling (which is an excellent bowling line-up if the right combo is selected) and then our average batsman can compete against the average score the opposition would make.

Only 11 Pakistani players EVER have scored more centuries than him.
Only 4 players (Z Abbas, Salman Butt, Saeed Anwar, and Mohammad Yousuf) have got more centuries per innings. (Of the players with 5 or more centuries)

T20's
No Pakistani player has scored more T20 runs than Kamran (PS: at a strike rate of 124)
No Pakistani player has scored more T20 50's than Kamran.

Only 6 other players in the world have more T20 runs than Kamran.

He has many faults... but u cant deny he is enjoyable to watch when he is batting....

Pak batted in the third innings and were 243-6.

Effectively 39-6.

He comes in and scores a wonderful hundred... saving our blushes.

Dude kamran akmal has been tested , retested and tested again and again 100 times..... the guy is a joke in international cricket. so pls stop supporting him. Actually i am amazed there are people who still support him.

Chappell's verdict: no amount of runs can make up for the matches, and as importantly the moments in matches, he has lost.

Sarfraz Ahmed.. Good keeper can't bat
Adnan Akmal ... can't hold a bat also good keeper

Jamal Anwar can be tried but after that I think we will have to go back to Kamran Akmal..

If Malik & Razzaq are allowed to perform and come back I think Kamran should get 1 more chance don't forget he was 1 of the better keepers in World cricket in the start of his career.

We have tried so many other ones but We need a keeper who can bat... We cannot keep With Umar Akmal which will ruin his batting.
 
from a batsman keeper point of view, certainly agree.

guys guys, stop knee jerking, he averages 45 in first class, give him a consistent of 5 test matches, and he will be our best test wicketkeeper batsman.

it was wrong to bring him to odi, he only averages 32 in list a. and this is like his first real failure. and bad shot thats all. give him some time to settle guys.
 
In this match alone we've seen the benefits of a keeper that is comfortable keeping to spinners. Stick with Sarfraz, his batting will improve.

Sorry no , keeper batting incompetency hurts less than his keeping incompetency.. So i would go with adanan akmal or even any other decent keeper but not kamran akmal (plus his credibility as an honest person is still on the line)
 
Kamran maybe a better batsmen but he can't keep to save his life.
Sarfraz...nothing special. I dont why people on PP thought he was a decent bat. He has failed miserably failed with the bat time and time again.
Adnan may not be a good batsman, but certainly is not worst than Sarfraz. Where Adnan has an obvious edge, its his keeping. We saw it in New Zealand, in the test series against Sri lanka....this lad is a solid keeper.
 
Sarfraz is bad but Kamran in worse!!
Cant replace him with Kamran! I cant forget that worldcup match in which he ended Shoaib's career...

It's true that fans have seriously short term memories. We should all have learnt by now that a wicketkeepers primary job is to keep, and sticking with dodgy keeper has backfired countless times. There are 5 or 6 other batsmen in the team, whose job it is to score runs.

Particularly in ODI's, our 3 pronged spin attack needs a decent keeper to make them effective.

Ill explain you in simple -

Kamran Akmal = Gives runs (Dropping Catches, Byes, Stumpings) - Makes Runs (Through his batting)


By doing this he compensates for his poor keeping with his batting thus giving a net effect of literally NOTHING!. This, however is in literally exceptional cases where he gives a net effect of 0.

More often than once, he wont compensate for his poor keeping with his batting, just look at his average.

NZ World Cup Game was a prime Example

Kamran Akmal Gives away 130 runs by dropping Ross Taylor on 0.
Kamran Akmal Bats and Makes 8 freaking runs.
Net effect is him giving away 122 extra runs because of his poor keeping.
End Result - Pakistan Lose the game by 110 Runs.

I'll give you another example.
Asia Cup 2010 - Pakistan vs Srilanka

Kamran Akmal gives away 54 runs by dropping Jayawardene on 0.
Kamran Akmal bats and makes 14 runs.
Net effect is him giving away 40 runs.
End Result - Pakistan lose the game by 16 runs.


Do you not see whose the difference now? FFS get over this useless of a cricketer. Kamran Akmal being ever so great in batting is a MYTH.

Just because the guy can whack a couple of sixes, and is a good stroke player compared to Sarfaraz has your mind corrupted that the guy can actually be Pakistan Savior. Get Over HIM!

Stop with the tried and tested failures. No wonder we got Zardari in power today!.

Get Kamran in the side and if they want to keep sarfaraz so be it. Kami is a way better batsman than imran farhat plz get rid of him and bring kami as opener
 
Sarfraz Ahmed is more suited for Test matches as everyone was pointing out before his (re)selection, he's a technically solid middle-order batsman, not the 'explosive' type who could accelerate the RR as he was sent down the order today, for example; for ODIs and T20s, apart from Kamran Akmal, we do have a domestic option named Jamal Anwar - good wicket-keeper, and looks like a more-than-decent batsman, too, from what I've seen (though his FC stats don't really tell us the whole story.)
 
:facepalm: Do you people NOT understand how those drops KILL our team? Sarfraz can make 0 for the rest of his life, it'll still be worth more with his keeping than kamran's 27 average.

For T20s actually, I always thought kamran was a good keeper, umar's been doing a decent job too though.

Kamran Akmal is NOT a keeper. Any part timer (like U.Akmal, Younis or Asad) would do a more satisfactory job.

He's not the the batsman he used to be either. He could've become our specialist opener only but kept rejecting the idea until got kicked out for good.

We have better openers in the domestic scene than him.

LASTLY, we have 6 other specialist batsmen to fix. Only in Pakistan the keeper is accounted for lack of runs before other specialist batsmen. :facepalm:

also I'm pretty surprised @ the OP saying that Adnan can't hold a bat, he has two 40+ scores in tests. Adnan or Sarfaraz are the options. Yes, Sarfaraz isn't batting well these days but you give him an extended run and I'm sure with the confidence he'll start performing. Umar's fine for T20I's. After what Kamran did in Sydney I don't want to see him in Pak colours even for a T20

I am not sure how you are justifying having Kamran Akmal as an opener in our ODI team.

Outside of Pakistan, as an opener he has an average of 23.97 (against all opposition).

Mind you this includes performances against the minnows

You factor in his keeping skills, I don't see how he is better then Sarfraz or Adnan....at least they can keep!
