Let’s say we all agree that Babar and Rizwan are the best batsmen Pakistan has seen in years perhaps even the best since sliced bread. Their skills and consistency are unmatched, and they’re seen as the backbone of our batting lineup.

let’s also assume that Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique and some others deserve endless opportunities based purely on their potential. Despite limited success so far, we’re willing to keep them in the lineup indefinitely, trusting that their talent will eventually shine through, regardless of how many chances it takes.

Then there’s Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf, hailed as the second coming of Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. We’re ready to believe they can replicate the legendary impact of those two icons, regardless of the inconsistency they may show. After all, with labels like these, how could we question their place?

Now, let’s assume there’s no other talent worth developing in Pakistan, that our existing squad is as good as it gets. Trying out different combinations or giving other players a chance? That’s seen as unnecessary because we’re managing to keep our losses at a respectable margin

We also decide that no domestic player deserves a fair shot. They’re written off as “home track bullies” based on a few international appearances, without giving them the opportunity to adjust or prove themselves on the bigger stage.

But here’s the big question: when this current lineup inevitably ages out and retires, where do we go from there? With no new players groomed, and no experience in our bench strength, do we face the possibility of going down the path of Zimbabwe? Or do we drop even further and find ourselves competing against teams like UAE and Nepal just to stay competitive? Without developing new talent, are we not setting ourselves up for a dramatic fall?

Problem is the culture.

Pat cummins wants his youngsters to end bowling careers. Rizwan wants his players to accommodate their seniors while their seniors play rubbish.

Other captains will follow auit

every one knows Pak Cricket is doomed. Would rather read about what your ideas are to prevent it.

Here is the young lot being given chances during last 24 months.

AzamKhan+
UsmanKhan+
Saim Ayub
Abdullah Shafique
Saud Shakeel
Kamran Ghulam
Khurram Shehzad
Muhammad Ali
Amir Jamal
Abbas Afridi
Irfan Khan
Ihsanullah
Khusdil Shah
Zaman Khan
Zahid Mehmood
Usama Mir
Muhammad Haris

Put your hand on your heart and tell who out of this list is a world class player. Is anyone better than Babar Azam from this list.

It's a doomed strategy and it's in place because our cricket is always in a state of chaos and players then become selfish and never want to rest.

If it was up to me I'd have a different type of central contract system for T20 cricketers and have around 20-25 players contracted in this way. These should be 20-25 players contracted for a two year period in each T20 world cup cycle.

Players in the main central contract list should only make up 50% of the t20 side during the run up to the world cup.

PCB should officially say that they are less fussed about results in bilaterals and more about the outputs and trying team combination. This should take the sting out of the ex players who will churn out nonsense on social media.

I'd also prohibit main players from playing in national t20 etc and champions cup. This should be reserved for the next tier of players.

Finally at the end of QEA trophy a series should be arranged between the test XI and the QEA XI.

All very small suggestions but will give a bit more exposure to players.

There is a big gulf between Pakistan domestic cricket and international cricket.
Sadly our domestic setup is not the ideal barometer to check the players.

Any young player bought in the national team should be given 8-10 games to check his ability as evident by players like Khusdil Shah, etc

Pakistan cricket has been in dooms day mode since I can remember. We have survived for decades, and will continue to do so despite the dark forces trying to quell Pakistan.

These sort of OPs are just flavour of the months.

Future of Pakistan Cricket is tied with the future of the country. Unless and until that changes Pakistan Cricket will not progress and prosper.

So which players are the future of Pak T20 cricket?

In my opinion Rizwan should quit international T20's because of his waning abilities.
A new captain and some new faces is need of the hour.

Next up is 5 match T20 series in NZ.
What should be our Squad?

Shan Saud Agha and KG I don't think are good T20 players. I am sure their domestic numbers must also be poor.

Irfan Niazi, Maaz, Jahandad, Sufyan some of the new names that should feature permanently in our T20 side

My plans till World T 20 , Ok here it goes first and foremost get rid of Aqib I know people say the system is broken a change in the coach will not mean much but I seriously think this guy is really bad and bringing our output down by 20% atleast by his old school coaching style , toxic ego and arrogance along being vindictive and nepotistic infact I will not get any local coach they are all toxic have chip on their shoulders and frankly our compromised with their selection especially if they are being represented by agencies which are also represent the players . Go for a foreign coach I know it’s tough to get one after Gillispie-Kirsten fiasco but maybe someone like Henson or Andy Flower might accept if we give them an iron clad contract for 12 months I don’t know just try.

Secondly no selection of Babar, Shaheen and Rizwan in white ball sides till world T 20 .Tell them go play county cricket domestic 4 day cricket bowl lots of overs , bat lots get themselves ready for South Africa test series assure them they retain their current contracts for one year ask them to reset their mindset , fitness work on their technical shortcomings in this time I believe likes of Shaheen and Babar will benifit with two - three months of county cricket.

Whoever the new coach is give a set of 15 boys for T 20 and Odis tell him these are his boys for next 12 months try to get the best out of them amd
Don’t worry for results.

My T 20 XV
Saim , Fakhar, Harris , Salman, Haider , Irfan, Minhas, Abbas , Rauf , Muqeem, Akif, H. Nawaz, Abrar , Wasim, Qasim

Odi XV
Saim , Fakhar, Haseebullah, Ghulam, Salman,Haider, Minhas,Naseem, Muqeem ,Rauf, Akif, Qasim, Wasim, Abrar, Saud

Will this make us a world beater absolutely not but atleast gives us stability and hopefully a fresh mindset

My plan is to watch Babar and Rizwan play their last games for Pakistan in 2027 World Cup.

Oh it’s true

It’s damn true!

No future. Just more agonizing death till someone puts an end to this endless suffering.

It’s very bleak. Changing personnel might paper over the cracks, but it hasn’t worked so far. I think Pakistan cricket has been left behind.

The modern game demands elite levels of fitness and professionalism — qualities that are sadly alien to our cricketing culture. At best, we might sneak the odd win against mid or minnow-level teams, but we’ll keep getting battered by the top sides.

Mediocrity, corruption, and a lack of accountability are now so deeply ingrained that complaining almost feels futile.

New trend is play till 40 you have this torture for another good 10 years with no accountability

Modern game requires better fielding but it’s a myth they are fitter the likes of Wasim, Waqar and Imran had insane fitness levels as they regularly clocked 1000 overs plus a year they would still be elite in modern game the problem of fitness is not because our players not following modern game it’s just they are lazy the likes of Shaheen would leave a test series to play a crappy league in Bangladesh no wonder they do not have stamina to last more then 4 Overs

I don't think its a myth at all, the guys you mentioned all played 30-40 years ago so kinda reinfornces my point. Those players were exceptional athletes, and their commitment to fitness was a key part of their success. They didn’t just rely on skill, but also on intense fitness regimes and endurance.

With the current crop being lazy then obviously they are going to fall behind the fitness standards required. If they can't catch, can't field in addition to not being able to bat or bowl well, then these are the kind of results you can expext to see in perpuity.

The gap between Pakistan cricket and the rest of the world has become too big. The world has moved forward. Pakistan can still win here and there a game or two , but it's highly unlikely they would win tournaments or series. To reverse this free fall Pakistan need to make a big big effort , but unfortunately People running the show are mediocre.

But development of youngsters should be systematic not just picking players without judging their skills and capacity of absorbing pressure.Talent should not be criteria of selecting newcomers.
