As you all know that Pakistan won't be playing any cricket for four months straight. How are the young players ever going to grow and ever have the confidence to play the world's best teams when they get shelved after just 5 matches.

Currently there is no series/tours for Pakistan cricket team scheduled for four months as you can see on cricinfo and other reputable sources.

This is the schedule we have for the next four months and then we say why we were ranked at 8th position in ODIs and 6th position in Tests. Almost every team is playing during that time except Pakistan.

While there is possibly going to be a T20 World Cup probably early next year and we would enter it without any proper match experience under our belt and when that usually happens our players lose sight of anything and return to old bad habits. During this period our players would likely lose all of the fire in their belly and go back to being complacent and forget about being aware of any sort of fitness.

Is this the best our administrators can do no wonder our cricket never improves!

Disclaimer: this has nothing to do with being a wrist slitter but asking an question about a legitimate issue.

The players have been on the road for a long time

They had a tour of England from June, July, August, Sept 2016

Then they had a UAE series from Sept-Oct 2016

Then they had a tour of NZ in Nov 2016

Then they had a tour of Aus from Dec 2016 to Jan 2017

Then they had the PSL from Feb to March 2017

Then they had the tour of West Indies from April to May 2017

Then they have the CT in June 2017

The players deserve a break, an opportunity to have some off time, off season, to spend time with their families, loved ones and to play in County Cricket, other T-20 leagues around the world.

What is the next confimed series for 2017. Its better they reat rather than waste time playing Afghanistan or some other amateur team

Sure those who have been on the road deserve a break, but isnt the point here to develop new talent? Lots of aspiring players in domestics who could be called up for a 'B' side tour.

This is the consequence of not having international cricket back home.

NAJAM SETHI is not a competent man... nor deserve to lead a cricket board

Incompetent people do not successfully run the PSL twice

Incompetent people do not successfully run the PSL twice

he himself did not run it.. it was run by hundreds if not thousands of PCB officials and workers... give credit where's it due

He was the brainchild, he took the risk, he did what previous PCB administrations did not have the guts or heart to do. It is you who needs to give credit where it is due.

4 months break is still too much for professional atheletes. 2 months should be maximum at a stretch.

Exactly. us fans also need some stress free time Off

incompetent board head. shouldn't be there. always involved in petty points making.

1. the credit of psl is undeservedly given to sethi.

2. a trophy win has again nothing to do with the board heads - since we have two of them.

these are the things that they should be remembered for

1. breakup in ties with bangladesh and afghanistan

2. inability to handle the big 3 situation.

3. inability to create anything positive in the domestic structure.

4. audit reports of the board and the expenditure accrued especially on these people who have 'honorary' posts

Lol didn't some of Sethi's vehement defenders on this thread create a thread after the first group match saying that Sethi isnt responsible for this defeat???? So they are not responsible for defeats but should be given credit for victories.

Wow wow wow :raja

:salute

lol completely wrong

To bring something to life from just an idea requires great skill, vision and almost dictatorial drive. Any project manager knows that.

We, as a nation, have to stop thinking in black and white - the world is grey. Sethi may have no cricketing credentials and the wrong political connections, but he has a mind a a drive to get things done. And he got it done.

He single-handedly got PSL to take off, and PSL produced the players that won you the Champions' Trophy. I don't think there is any doubt in this.

Better then Zaka Ashraf who gave us isolation.

Isolation was due to the incompetence of ijaz butt and the Lahore attack. Zaka just tried to make the best of a bad situation. To be honest the whole pcb needs an overhaul and we need an Andrew Strauss like position filled by a recently retired player to really help knit the whole set up together and build the junior teams in preparation for their future advancement

its not just that we dont have cricket for 4 months, but even after the SL series there is a 2 month break

so essentially we will only have 1 series in 6 months

Zaka made a full of himself in the board room in ICC meetings. He was neither intelligent nor could he speaking coherently. He was also corrupt along with his PPP cronies siphoned millions out of PCB to gift to his higher powers.

Andrew Strauss hasn't done anything apart from a bumbling pathetic semi final exit in a ICC tournament. Where is England equivalent of IPL/BBL/PSL? There is none.

Sethi has done a lot of good work over the last 3-4 years which is yielding results. Leave him to his work.

If they had an iota of sense then BD tour should not be called off and a 3 match Odis with a T20 to be arranged in early Sep with NZ in UAE

Any pcb heads should only get credit if the take any steps to improve our domestic cricket or bring international cricket back to Pakistan.

Everything else is due to the efforts of the players and the staff, maybe selectors.

I don't see why the administrators should get any credit for any of the wins. They are doing nothing but eating away st the board budget, enjoy expensive overseas trips, issue ridiculous media statements and generally make fools out of themselves in front of everyone.

I thought opposite though, but I might be wrong.

This CT win indicates the capability of the team when performing - it's their peak potential, which is basically a 10 days thing. That 8th/9th rank actually indicates where these guys have pulled PAK cricket over 3/4 years.

Similarly, this PSL indicates the potential of cricket market in PAK - launching PSL after 6 other boards had done that, notably 6 years after BCB & 4 years after SLCB/WICB indicates their efficiency & vision.

Should arrange a test and ODI series with Ireland in Ireland. Can send our upcoming talent to the tour along with some experienced faces.

where did i say anything bad about sethi?

It's the consequence of PCB's unfair demand made to BCB.Pakistan was scheduled to tour Bangladesh next month.Instead, they messed up of the whole thing by demanding Bangladesh to tour Pakistan.Very naturally Bangladesh rejected to tour Pakistan. Result-relationship between two boards has become very cold and the tour was cancelled. So go to bed and relax for 4 months.

Most people seem to have some sort of sethi phobia. There's a limit to how much you can blame one individual for everything being wrong.

Organizing PSL was not his idea, but something PCB had been thinking about doing for a very long time and all chairmans including military men and political employees none could even take one step forward in that direction but finally got implemented under sethi.

At the end of the day sethi will be a shakesperean hero unfortunately.

Sethi is not the PCB Chairman btw. It is Shahryar.

Sethi is the brainchild behind the PSL, he is the one who took the risk, initiative and put his neck on the line to make it happen, without him it would never have happened. Zaka Ashraf abandoned it 2 times in a row and wasted so much money as a result as well. So Sethi deserves more than due credit, some PTI lovers need to get over Sethi Phobia and give him credit where it is due.

What do you think this whole excercise of inviting the likes of Bangladesh to Pakistan Cricket is for?

Sethi is trying to abolish departmental cricket and to instead get them to sponsor regional teams but people like Aamir Sohail just shout and bark in the media and create enough pressure to prevent it from happening.

it is good to get relaxed,,the boys are playingnon stop cricket for the last one year and outside the country so not a bad thing,

You are right, but 4 months rest is too much.It may leave harmful effects on players performance.2 months rest would have been right.

Now even Sri Lanka where the cricket is dying and they don't have enough interest of their populace and the money to run their board yet they are playing far more series than us.

Again this goes back to Sheryar Khan and Najam Sethi. And no excuses about no home cricket Afghanistan has no home cricket but they are organizing series after series. No this is just the incompetence of our administrators as a whole.

Time to accept it

They live in a PSL bubble as that is the only thing that matters to them.

The PSL brings in good money for some officials so they couldn't give a damn about anything else.
