Very complex this!

First round consists of Two groups of 4 Teams each.

Second round , also known as Top 12, consists of Two groups of 6 Teams each.

Top 2 teams from each of the groups of First round will join the two groups of Second round.

Pakistan are in the most difficult group.

And if Sri Lanka Top Group A, which they should , then they will join Group 01 consisting of Pakistan.

That will be Pakistan, West Indies, New Zealand , Australia and SL fighting for Top 2 Spots in the group

Legendary Australia wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist has picked out four teams who according to him will enter the sem-finals of next year’s T20 World Cup in Australia. Gilchrist stated it is difficult to predict which team will eventually go on to win the tournament, however, he did pick out the semi-finalists. The ICC T20 World Cup 2020 will commence from October 18 and will conclude on November 15 next year in Australia. The women’s tournament will be held from February 21 to March 8.

“Probably they (India) will be featuring in semi-finals and the finals. I can’t predict who is going to win but I suspect that the usual suspects like India, England, Australia and New Zealand will probably make the long way, semi-finals of course,” Gilchrist was quoted as saying by PTI.

Interestingly, number one ranked T20| team Pakistan failed to find a spot in Gilchrist’s final four. The former stumped did mention that T20 cricket is like a lottery and each team fancies their chance.

“Pakistan are number one ranked team in the format, so you cannot rule them out. But T20 cricket is a bit of lottery so it is hard to predict the winner until the final runs are scored or wickets are taken,” he added.

Gilchrist also said that he is a supporter of Day-Night Test matches and he expects that India will play Australia in a Day-Night Test next year. Cricket Australia had proposed India play the Adelaide Test under lights during the last tour of Australia in 2018 but the BCCI turned down the offer. Current playing conditions stipulated by the ICC say the home nation can host a day-night Test only when the visiting board agrees to it. However, that will all change on November 22 when Virat Kohli & Co will play their first ever Day-Night Test match against Bangladesh at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

“They would be here next summer after the T20 World Cup. I expect there will be a Day/Night Test there. I haven’t heard from Cricket Australia but I expect there would be one,” Glichrist said on the sidelines of an event.

“I was a reluctant starter of Day/night Tests but now I can totally see the positive outcomes that is going to help Test cricket stay relevant,” he added.

India have 'game-ready' players for T20WC : Virat Kohli

With focus on this year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup, India skipper Virat Kohli said that his side have 'game-ready' players but they need to identify the ones "who stand up under pressure situations".

"T20 is something we don't have any problems in picking players," said Kohli, on the eve of the first Twenty20 International against Sri Lanka, on Saturday, 4 January. "Because you have the IPL, at a very competitive level, guys have been performing season after season".

Kohli added that because of the IPL, most of the India players from the current set-up have played a lot of T20 cricket and have developed their skills to match the standards at a very competitive level.

"All the players you see are probably the most important Indian players in their team in the IPL, who feature for the franchises in every game. So, from that point of view, it's about figuring out which player can fit in at what time and what's the strongest combination you can take to the World Cup.

"And everyone's game-ready, which is the most important thing and the biggest plus of having a squad like this with guys who have played a lot of T20 cricket, as I said, at a very competitive level."

The India captain said that all the T20I series ahead of the 20-over mega event, which starts in October, are going to be about identifying "fearless match-winners".

"The next few series will be very exciting to see [as to] who stands up under pressure situations and how they react to pressure when maybe Rohit or maybe myself, or KL or Shikhar at the top haven't fired.

"Those things will be interesting to find out because we need guys who are ready till 6 and 7 to win games. It can't be dependent on two guys or three guys to win; that's not how you win ICC tournaments. So, that's our main focus to reveal situations to guys and expect them to come into their own and become those fearless match-winners that we should have going into a big tournament."

India's first T20I assignment in 2020 is a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka which starts on Sunday, 5 January.
