The Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power

@Bhaijaan bringing in Emily in Paris to make ROP look good is itself weird.

In all honesty even The Umbrella Academy seemed more natural and original than ROP..

Peter Jackson’s Hobbit movies don’t have a huge fanbase either. Most people were unhappy with too much use of CGI.

Nothing happens the same way twice.
LOTR movies were a class apart. Even Peter Jackson cannot replicate that success again.

There were always comparisons even between GOT and LOTR, but the latter was simply on another level, we may never see such an adaptation in the genre again.

Bhaijaan I always thought LOTR was a ripoff of some aspects of Hindu mythology. For instance there are shades of Lord Ram in Aragorn. Gimli seems like a ripoff of Hanuman ji. Sauron is very knowledgeable like Rawana. Then the use of bows and arrows. The rings of power are like all those astras.

What are your thoughts?

If he was involved it would not have been such a garbage show. That's what I meant.

I personally don’t mind it as I love the lore in general but Jackson is involved with The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim so maybe something for you to look forward to

He was deeply upset about not being involved with it, why do people like you watch just to put the chaku up your behind, go watch Star Plus you nutter 🤣

Yeah anything without a song and dance sequence without an army of backup dancers is probably looked at as sub par entertainment across the border.

I like good story telling, If its well made, it will be fun. From the trailer its look good, like the other Witcher animated movie that had come on Netflix.

Lotr is basically based on White mythology, everything white is pure.

Angels heaven etc, the nearest I have seen anything to Hindu Mythology is Black Panther and they literally reference Hanuman in it lol

Well, I think most these fantasy writers tend to look at real world and other cultures for inspirations and ideas. I felt LOTR definitely had a lot of parallels with Hinduism, just like Dune, the book simply ripped off the concept of Mahdi and even used the same term from, Islam and Arabic. So many Arabic words in it. Muaddab or Muaddib, for instance. The desert background etc.

The very first time I watched LOTR, I thought this is mixture of the elvish European legends and Ramayan.

Dune definitely with Islam, if you see the second movie you will even see the similarities more than the first one.

People always take inspiration from somewhere. Purely as a work of literature the Hindu mythology in its entirety is quite an incredible piece of work. We have seen some of our directors trying to depict our mythology in a grand fashion in Bahubali, Kalki etc. i think we will see more work related to it in the upcoming decades if there is still an audience for it.

Not Islam, mostly Arabic and North African cultural influence. I think Frank Herbert was inspired by how North African Arabs fought back against the French colonialists.
The fight over the resource (oil/spice) etc.

Apart from the concept of Mahdi I did not find much in line with Islam in the book or the films.

Not sure if you're trolling but I think there is some truth to this .. JRR Tolkien might have got his inspiration from the Hindu epics.

I'd like to see Peter Jackson make a sprawling adaptation of Mahabharata.

Why would I be trolling when addressing @Bhaijaan ?
