Trump - the guy has completely changed the tone and topics of conversation at the global level. He may or may not win again, but his actions and the way he upended how POTUS should talk/act/behave will continue to have consequences in the next decade.

Putin imo.

He has been in power for a long time and his goal of bringing about a multipolar world seems to be working.

Trump may be most powerful but no way most influencial. I know people would not like it, but Modi has been much more influencial than Trump. He has influenced a whole generation of Indians and NRIs, won 2 general elections by a landslide margin in a complex country like India, changed the entire demohraphics of south asian politics. The aura, the reception and the umpteen peace prize he revieves from international fraternity is a testimony of his greatness. You may like him or he may be a 'Divider in chief' for you but no political leader invoked so much emotions in last decade than Narendra Modi.

Trump.

He has changed Western politics forever. On top of this he is the first leader to truly embrace social media.

Putin. The man had a hand in trump victory and brexit. He is slowly breaking down the EU and re-establishing Russian dominance.

On a non political side, Elon Musk.

Greta Thunberg will be up for this award in 2020 if we start seeing some positive developments.

Bush left office in 2009 though. Obama has had a bigger impact on policies in the western world this decade.

Imran Khan is nowhere near as influential on the global stage as the rest of the names on this list.

Putin
Trump
Xi Jinping
Modi
Boris Johnson

Non-political: Jeff Bezos

Is Modi well known to common UK citizens?
Like i was just about to day here that Modi might be rage to a lot of us stupid Indians but who really cares about Indian politics globally big then i saw your post.

Pakistanis bringing Imran here, please stop embarrassing yourselves. Its even 10 times worse than Indians naming Modi.

The decade truly belonged to digital revolution IMO. Facebook replaced media agencies all over the world as the global leader in political outreach. Digital media streaming, digital payment, transport, ecommerce, food delivery everything transformed human life so much so looking back now even 2010 seems like Jurassic age sometimes.

Mark Zuckerburg truly was the face of this revolution.

He is to me without question the most influential person of the decade.

Putin, by miles and miles. Trump is his puppet.

Most western leaders are puppets. Fake democracies.

I agree with Putin as a world leader but influence over the world or influence of the people of the world cannot be any leader.

People are influenced by entertainers these days. Not sure about musicians but in terms of sport, it has to be Messi.

.

How has he influenced you personally?

Most people around the world haven't got a clue who Zuckerberg is including most who have a fb account.

Agha Waqar. He revolutionised the Pakistani auto industry in a way that put Pakistan on the map of the world.

I'm quite sure most people in the world are more familiar with Mark Zuckerberg than Vladimir Putin.

Trump is a household name though. Such is the stature POTUS carries. No world leader comes remotely close.

Hmm, I am not seeing any musicians or athletes passing laws or making policy. All they can really do is influence people to buy certain products.

I am coming round to your idea that oligarchs such as Putin and the press barons are able to hack the democratic process, corrupting politicians and spreading propaganda by print media and micro-targeted social media memes. The Sun’s circulation has dropped by 2/3 since its heyday but The Mail on Line has a massive presence.

The BBC appears to have lost impartiality and exists to propagate government memes rather than question our leaders.

George Monbiot says the answer to this subversion of democracy by the oligarchs is in what he terms ‘political rewilding’ - local community focused democracy, which is what my party has been advancing for years - though so many people have lost the community spirit and just want to get home to watch the next box set or play the next game. 1984 has not come true but Brave New World has.

satoshi nakamoto by a mile

Who are they? Never heard of either of them, don't think they qualify as most influential personalities of the decade when most of the world would not have heard their name. Their achievements might be out of the world and may have helped everyone, but they are not well recognized to be included in global lists.

I think these lists will have big name political leaders at the top. POTUS will most likely be at the top or top 3, Putin is also right up there.

From sports industry, Roger Federer, Usain Bolt and Cristiano Ronaldo come to mind. I think in terms of popularity/influence Ronaldo pips Messi (if any survey has been done with suggests otherwise can replace Ronaldo with Messi).

From entertainment industry, Leonardo Di Caprio, Justin Bieber (Love him or Hate him, he has been very influential among today's generation in western world). There might be few others, but I have limited knowledge of global entertainment scene.

From innovation perspective, Mark Zuckenberg is clearly the leader. Elon Musk is another one who is now slowly becoming famous throughout the world and rightly so.

This is about influence on the individual not a list of who has stature according to you, otherwise Bollywood actors and Modi would be on top of your list. Your most famous Bollywood actor(have no clue who because I don't watch the rubbish) would be influencing hundreds of millions of Indians more than Trump does.

I asked how has Zuckerburg personally influenced you? You don't even know lol.

Only a low percentage of voters bother to actually vote because most have lost faith in the so called democratic system. Boris and Corbyn were not liked, many voted for the one they disliked the most lol. This is a circus not any form of great people power choosing a great leader out of many potential greats lol. The same in the US, they hated Hilary more than Trump.

Laws are just accepted by people, they influence people from a practical pov but not a personal pov. Entertainers are the most powerful, people dress like them, talk like them and conduct themselves like their role models which are either singers, actors, sports stars..

The most famous person in history is Jesus(pbuh) and the most famous in the last 30 years is prob Michael Jackson, he was known in every country in all parts of society.

The West despise Putin because Putin plays their game and is better at it.

When Amreeka and UK try and influence the masses via social media it is democracy and free speech, when the result doesnt go the way of the agenda, it's foreign interference.

The West could learn a thing or two from Putin.

Come on bro. If Remain won, or Labour/LDs - Putin wouldn't be in the frame.

Simple case of sore losers. Blame everyone but themselves.

Trump.

Hilarious to see Imran Khan in that list though.

President Bush? Laden? He died in 2011 and this decade saw Al-Qaeda's influence severely curtailed.

YouGov global poll: PM Imran Khan & Malala Yousafzai feature in World's Most Admired people of 2021

— — —

The Obamas remain the world’s most admired man and woman

Results:—

Barack Obama retains his position as world’s most admired man in YouGov’s international survey this year, having wrested the position from long-time incumbent Bill Gates last year.

Michelle Obama likewise holds on to her position as world’s most admired woman for the third year running.

In fact, the top three spots for each sex are unchanged since last year, with business tycoon and philanthropist Bill Gates remaining second among men, followed by Chinese premier Xi Jinping. Actress and humanitarian Angelina Jolie continues to be the world’s second-most admired woman, ahead of third placed British monarch Queen Elizabeth II.

This year’s study surveyed more than 42,000 people in 38 countries and territories to compile the list.

Pakistani human rights campaigner Malala Yousafzai and Indian actress Priyanka Chopra have risen farthest in the ranks this year, climbing five places to 9th and 10th respectively. In Chopra’s case, this represents her best performance in the series so far.

Among the men, Argentine footballer Lionel Messi has seen the greatest increase since last time, climbing four places from 11th to 7th – his highest rank to date. Despite this record placement, as well as his recent Ballon D’or win, Messi still lags behind Portuguese rival Cristiano Ronaldo in 4th place (also Ronaldo’s best showing to date).

Entertainers are more prominent in the female list, with 10 of the most admired women being actresses, singers or TV presenters (although some, like Emma Watson and Angelina Jolie, are also notable for their humanitarian work). By contrast, the list of most admired men contains more people from political, business and sporting backgrounds.

New additions to the top twenties this year include US president Joe Biden and his vice president Kamala Harris, Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Thai rapper Lisa (of Blackpink fame), and New Zealand prime minister Jacinda Ardern.

This year’s rankings also see the re-entry into the top twenties of investor Warren Buffett, Pakistani prime minister Imran Khan, Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Chinese actresses Liu Yifei and Yang Mi.

The results are calculated from the combination of responses to two questions – whether a respondent admires the figure at all and then whether they are the figure the respondent admires the most. Each nation's results in the global compilation are also weighted to represent the country's population size.

Methodology:—

During the spring this year YouGov gathered open-ended nominations from panellists across 38 countries and territories, asking them simply: “Thinking about people alive in the world today, which [man or woman] do you most admire?” These nominations were then used to compile a list of the 20 men and 20 women who received the most nominations and were nominated in at least four countries. An additional 5-10 popular local figures were added to the lists for individual countries.

In fieldwork conducted from over the summer and autumn we used these lists to poll each of the 38 areas asking two questions: “who do you truly admire?”, where respondents could make multiple selections, and “who do you MOST admire?”, where they could only pick one. These two numbers were combined into a percentage share of admiration, displayed to the right of each name in the graphic above and table below, which shows the full results for every country including local celebrities and public figures:

By asking respondents two questions, we can understand both the breadth (i.e. global reach) and the intensity of a person's support.

Altogether, we polled in countries that constitute more than seven-tenths of the world's population. However, some parts of the world were better represented than others, so we weighted up the impact certain countries had on the final scores and weighted down others so the global scores more accurately reflect the breakdown of sentiment in the world overall.

All of the surveys were conducted online, although in many of the countries the internet penetration is low to the point where the sample can only be said to be representative to the online population. The countries and territories where this applies include Colombia, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, the Philippines and South Africa.

Time Magazine list: Muhammad Yunus has been given a place in the list of 100 influential personalities of Time magazine after he became the chief advisor of Bangladesh after the coup of Sheikh Hasina due to the revolt of students last year.

America's prestigious Time magazine has released the list of 100 most influential people in the world in the year 2025. Along with personalities like US President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, the chief advisor of the interim government of Bangladesh and the one who spews venom against India, Muhammad Yunus has also found a place in this list. Muhammad Yunus has been given a place in the list of 100 influential personalities of Time magazine after he became the chief advisor of Bangladesh after the coup of Sheikh Hasina due to the revolt of students last year.

In an article published in Time, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has praised Muhammad Yunus. Clinton has praised Mohammad Yunus' role in taking Bangladesh towards democracy after violent student protests. However, Bangladesh's own political parties are now looking at Mohammad Yunus ' efforts to restore democracy in the country with suspicion.

Clinton wrote, 'Last year, a student-led uprising ousted Bangladesh 's authoritarian prime minister, leaving a celebrated leader to lead the country toward democracy - Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus.' The former US Secretary of State recalled and praised Muhammad Yunus' work in establishing the Grameen Bank in Bangladesh.

The Time 100 list honours influential personalities across the world for their influence and leadership. This year's list features several global figures from politics, entertainment, science and business, each honoured for their significant influence and contribution during the past year. However, this year there are no Indian names on the list.

Yunus Sahib entering this list at the age of 84 is a big achievement. He reminds me of Plato's vision of Philosopher King. I do Dua for his long life and guidance to steer BD forward. Hopefully his leadership can inspire Pakistanis too.

Time Magazine, much like the BBC is a western Deepstate instrument. It’s almost constantly a slap on the face of the Global South with little to no representation.
