Usually, with 2 wickets down in the Pakistan camp early, fans would be going crazy. The departing batsmen would be bashed and millions of posts would pop out asking for the ouster of the particular players.
But today, as 2 wickets fell, there was excitement as an Old Stallion walked to his crease and slowly marked his leg stump while we fans wonder whether this will be the day when we see a Pakistani batsmen cross over to the 10K mark.
Usually, 20 runs would come of a batsmen's willow in no time in test cricket. As a few singles and doubles with a 4 helps you reach the 20th mark easily.
But these 23 runs were not just some ordinary 23 runs. These 23 runs were like when a batsmen gets to 90 runs in an Odi match and is 10 away from his first every 100th.
But we all know Younis Khan. While many greats have had trouble in the nervous 90s, for example Sachin Tendulkar, but for Younis the nervous 90s are like already crossing over the 100th mark and going for the 110th mark.
As we all waited to see the runs flow of Younis's willow, we were made to wait. From the time Younis joined Babar at the crease and got off the mark, Babar had played 41 deliveries. Younis himself took 18 deliveries, after which on the 19th he flicked it to the legside for a single.
The worry of him getting out for a duck was over, but he still grind each of his 21 runs afterwards.
Usually, fans would attack a player for playing this slow, but Younis provided some entertainment and suspense as he slowly took each run.
Before the Tea break could be taken, West Indies gave the ball to the part time off spiner, Kraigg Braithwaith. It was expected that Younis Khan would do it in this over, but as he took a single on the second ball of his over, Babar blocked the rest of the over.
Tea was taken, Younis stuck on 9999 and the wait continue.
Right after Tea when Chase was given the ball, it was only on the second delivery of the over that Younis played his trademark sweep shot which rolled away for 4. With that Younis became the First ever Paksitani batsmen to achieve 10, 000 runs in Test Cricket.
I will probably never forget the 23 runs that were churn out their in Sabina Park from 84 balls
The way Younis played his trademark shot to achieve the record was just marvelous
