Hopefully Shoaib Malik's captaincy stints in the PSL and for Pakistan recently can put this rubbish to rest now. I remember a few select posters who i would call Malik diehard fans would sprout this rubbish that Malik's captaincy from 2007 to 2009 was disrupted by the senior players back then i.e. Shahid Afridi, Mohd Yousaf, Shoaib Akhtar and co who were unhappy at being superseded and that a junior had been appointed as captain over them in all formats.

Barring his stint with Sialkot Stallions in domestic cricket, Malik has been a failure as captain in all his other captaincy stints else where.

“It is not about winning, it is about testing our bench-strength.”

To be honest our batsmen were clueless scoring 280 on a 350 wicket. Malik did try his best when he was batting today.

I really wont blame the bowlers. Yasir Shah is obviously a misfit in ODIs.

I think we are putting too much emphasis on blaming captain/bowling coach.

Malik has no clue about setting a total on a good batting track.

He still thinks 280 is a good target!!

TBH, Mickey Arthur is also in on it. Clueless.

Yes I mentioned this in the match thread that Malik's 2019 captaincy has killed the myth that A) he was a great captain in the making in 2007-09 before being axed, and B) Malik should captain in the WC.

He is there on senior quota.

Mickey Arthur is more to blame. He also loves Imad, Malik, Imam, Shan.

The "good" guys. Not good enough at modern cricket though.

Has no clue about making tactics according to the situation and pitch - e.g. spinners, not targeting 300+ on belters.

Malik was all but done for in 2011, but thanks to the good graces of PCB and his PR train, since he started trending #bringmalikback on Twitter after the 2015 world cup, and then the way he has cashed in on stats against the poorer sides, and a here and there knock against the Big guns, he has created such a reputation around him that no one can even doubt or debate his presence, and be an irrefutable players in the side.

If they don't appreciate Malik for his batting (like in CT 17) it is his mentorship that was brought into limelight so that he doesn't feel left out in contributions.

He even managed to convince people to make him captain. As outrageous as this would've sounded back in 2014/2015.

Any way, we have always accepted mediocrity, and hype builders can't rely on anyone else so we don't have anyone else to give support to besides these names.

I mean God Forbid one of Malik or Hafeez is absent and we can't even chase a 240 against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup.
Our tail started at no.5 with Asif.

The newbies are even worse off than these current men. We sadly don't have any other options.
