BPL is low quality. I agree. :inti

BBL is the best. PSL is okay too.

IPL seems fixed, cringy, and overhyped. :inti

BPL is not even league brother...such low quality and boring cricket.........its like watching quad e azam trophy.......

Is anybody forcing you to watch it? :inti

It is of course a T20 league. It has been active since 2012.

Despite being "low quality", it continues to attract foreign players. Williamson, Woakes, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings played this season.

Some people whine about BPL over and over. Who is forcing you to watch? LOL. :qdkcheeky

What is the purpose of BPL? It is to generate a bit of revenue and find T20 talents.

BPL is now 14 years old.

It is not perfect but it is hanging in there.

Let’s say IPL is Adidas
PSL is Abibas- a decent but watered down wannabe knock off
BPL is the cheap jeans sold outside most railway stations in India. Don’t think anyone watches. From some clips I saw, seems very unprofessionally organized.

However I think Bangladesh has better economy and sponsors so they might afford to sign bigger names than PSL from what I have observed.

I keep hearing about Bangladesh's better economy and sponsors, if that is the case, why do most of their teams go bankrupt and why are players, officials, brand ambassador's abandoning teams because of payment issues?

At present, there is no improvement in the condition of Bangladesh's economy, rather it is moving towards decline.

Another factor is that broadcaster and sponsors only invest money when their team wins something or has world-class players. Bangladesh's team is mediocre, so no one will invest huge money on these lossers .

Even if you gave all IPL foreigners it will still feel mediocre.... no of foreigners is very overrated thing to measure quality of league....It literally unwatchable ..even highlights are unwatchable...every team literally have bangladesh players and Pakistan and Afghanistan rejects playing ....

Let alone player salaries, this below poverty league franchise owners failed to clear hotel and laundry bills quite a few times. Hell, even Afridi complained to that chindi chor Yunus over non-payment of his dues.

BD economy is a scam in itself. It is largely agrarian, overly dependent on remittances and sweatshops. Just watch any random video of Dhaka, it looks worse than 3rd tier cities in India and Pakistan.

As I said from the clips I have seen really poorly organized tournament but I remember few years ago, BPL had a lot more marquee names (relatively speaking) than PSL.

However no doubt PSL broadcasting and organizing relatively looks way more professional than BPL for sure .

You have no idea what you are talking about The better parts of Dhaka are far better than even tier 2 cities in India

Lots of misinformed people who write things based on hatred for Bangladesh.

It's all good. We don't need to waste our energies to convince them.

Nobody is forcing them to watch BPL or visit Bangladesh. :inti

They are not misinformed, they know exactly well the lies they are spreading.

It's really bad.... there is no quality overseas players..... plus those kits reminds me of faysal Bank t20.....
Overseas players are ok. Mostly they are a similar level to overseas players in other non-Ipl leagues. Even BBL has random unknown overseas players.

Bangladesh needs a few breakout stars of their own to make it more attractive.

Non-payment woes return to BPL

The Bangladesh Premier League’s (BPL’s) chronic non-payment issue has re-emerged after the end of the 12th edition with its governing council already having sent a letter to all franchises to clear all outstanding dues.

The letter was sent on January 27, instructing all teams to complete payments by the next 15 days, an official informed.

Unlike the previous season, players’ non-payment issue did not come under the spotlight during the 12th edition, which came to a close on January 23.

It was overshadowed by other issues like the uncertainty over Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup campaign, a players’ boycott which held up the league for over a day, and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) having to take over Chattogram Royals after its owners left the franchise a day before the tournament began.

However, a week after the tournament’s conclusion, some players are expressing frustrations over not being paid.

One Noakhali Express player informed on Thursday that the franchise has paid players 25 percent of the total dues till now. “You can ask the other players too. Our cheques bounced on January 20, and it happened to all the players,” he informed The Daily Star, requesting anonymity.

The information was corroborated by other players. “BCB asked us about the payments and we are expecting the payments will be made soon,” said the Noakhali player, who is owed over Tk 10 lakh from the franchise.

Dhaka Capitals players had confirmed a week ago that they received 25 percent of their payments during the tournament and a small amount was disbursed to the players’ accounts afterwards. The franchise had said last week that they would clear all dues during the ongoing week.

Champions Rajshahi Warriors claim to have cleared all payments, which was confirmed by the board and some players. There appears to be no issues with Rangpur Riders’ payments, one Sylhet Titans player said fifty percent of his payment was made, and Chattogram players will be paid by the board.

BPL member secretary Iftekhar Rahman Mithu accepted that some franchises are behind on their payment but hinted that in the case of non-payment, the board would utilise the bank guarantees and franchise fee to clear all dues.

“Altogether, Noakhali have around Tk 1.45 crore in outstanding payments. We have Tk 2 crore [as franchise fee] from them. Dhaka have provided us with a Tk 5 crore bank guarantee. Cheques have bounced but we have the funds for their payments with us,” he said.

“We issued a letter on the 27th that in 15 days from then, the franchises will have to complete all payment and give us a list which would include the names of all team management, foreign and local players. We will scrutinise the list by calling each and every one,” he added.

BPL is a joke of a league. Every year they struggle to pay players and consistently harass them. ICC should be taking step and not recognize records of this third class league and put pressure on BCB to pay players

Why do foreign players even opt for that garbage when there are so many other leagues available for them?

“Our cricketing talent and our competition are better than any other league," Rana said on Geo News. “If you look at it purely cricket-wise, the PSL is the number one league in the world — and why is that? Because of the draft system. The teams stay competitive, and look at the last four finals: all were decided in the last over or on the last ball. So I believe it’s because of this draft system that the league has maintained its quality and balance."

“It’s not about individuals or brands, it’s about the PSL. We are all PSL fans — players, owners, PCB — everyone grows the PSL together. So tell me, what exactly has gone wrong with the draft? What snake has come out of it that people are so scared? The money we already pay, compared to many other leagues, is still very good.

And this idea that if you forcefully change the system and pay more money, bigger players will automatically come, that’s not how it works. Our experience over time shows that clearly. Big players have played with us. Rashid Khan played in the PSL for a completely different amount, many times less than what he earns in the IPL. Harry Brook played his first season with us, and then the IPL picked him. Tim David played with us when he was coming from Singapore — if I remember correctly, around $5,000 — and his next IPL contract was $1.6 million,"

they go where they can make money. if they can make the same amount of money elsewhere they will go there. If someone is showing up for BPL, believe me they are at their end as far as options are considered..
