Am going by the number of alerts and messages of goodwill from the top guys in Indian govt etc that I am seeing, one would be forgiven to think that the whole facade of 'not playing Pakistan' etc is hogwash!

It appears that the Indian public still sees winning against Pakistan as a huge deal.

Something doesnt add up here.

It's celebration of the fact that the visually-challenged team has won. Nothing to do with Pakistan. Kudos to the team, first for competing and then for winning.

We see same celebratory reaction when Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Srikanth Kidambi et. al. do well in Badminton. Pakistanis don't compete in that sport.

Pakistanis like to give themselves too much credit.

There is gloating over beating Pakistan

Fact is no one would care if India had beaten Bangladesh in final.

I agree with MenInG that no one would care if they had beaten any other team. Indians need to be consistent, if they are against the idea of playing Pakistan so much then why do they celebrate whenever any Indian team beats a Pakistani team, be it mens, womens, youth, blind, etc? Smells of horrible double standards to me.

I don't see any gloating over beating Pak. I see celebration for winning the WC, which is well deserved.

Would have been same if they'd beaten some other team.

In any event, none of this translates to Indians wanting to play Pak.

The team won the cup and hence the messages. Playing Pakistan isnt a priority for India.

They returned heroes but the mention of Pakistan in news items is very clear to me. Victory is sweeter when against Pak - no point avoiding this obvious fact

They deserve it

India blind cricket team coach Mohammad Ibrahim on Monday said in order to take blind cricket to the next level, BCCI's recognition is a must. He said not only BCCI's recognition but the blind players need to be given central contracts by the national board.

Our players need to be given central contracts by the national board. "If we look at Pakistan, a team that has done consistently well in blind cricket they are contracted players of the Pakistan Cricket Board. PCB has supported them really well, players...

Ex-captain of our blind team Shekhar Naik was conferred with the Padma Shri Shri, ex-captain Ajay Reddy became Arjun Awardee in January this year. Hope the BCCI would recognise blind cricket soon, just like other countries like Pakistan, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand, England and Zimbabwe," he said.

"Players are receiving financial grants from the Government of India and the state governments, some have got government jobs in Haryana, Kerala, Odisha.
