In fact I have a friend who is Somali, speaks a bit of Punjabi also, who has the opinion that Somalis can do so much more as far as integration is concerned and to enhance their reputation around the world.

There are 2 different Somali girls in 2 of my lectures. Both of them talk to their neighbour so loud while the lecture is going on. I have to tell both of them to shut up in the same weak. I thought my rant can be expressed in this thread.

Very similar here in London. Sometimes when they are at shisha cafes they talk and laugh realy loudly, I remember last time some older Arab men were telling them to keep it down, they were literally laughing and the entire shisha café (100 people) were just looking.

The mums also take their children to chicken shops like Sam's Chicken for dinner or a restaurant evening.

I went to a poor inner city area school which was very diverse, full of south asians, west indians and somalians. The issues somalians face in each distinct community is no different to Brit Pakistanis/Asias or west indians. When our parents had to settle in inner city areas when they moved to the UK they exposed their children to an environment which was struggling to make ends meet and this is where the trouble arises from, at times family issues/lack of support and turbulent upbringing also contribute to the people their children would become one day and quiet often from a young age these young folk are made to believe that they will never make it in life and the government only does the absolute minimum to support these kids there is little encouragement when it comes to having an ambition and aiming high is concerned.

HOWEVER, despite these issues at the heart and soul of these communities there is so much positivity and talent which is not being utilized. Also i know of many successful Somalians who grew up with me and overcame various obstacles to achieve their goals some of whom had to escape the horrors back in the their homeland.

It's easy for certain folk to judge and make certain generalizations when they had the luxury of not being exposed to turmoil on a physical and psychological level from all quarters. If we see adversity it's easy to criticize, complain and moan about it, i suggest we try and help our local communities in doing our bit to improve British Society.

Well for an entire family to regularly have dinner at a fastfood restaurant is self-explanatory.

I have seen some terrible etiquette from them, where they go to social spots and play music on their phones really loudly, put their feet up on tables, cause a lot of mess and noise. If I had a restaurant/café I wouldn't accept them as they spend hardly anything and deter other people from coming.

Yeah both are bad, but I have also seen Somalians bring their own food to places that really stunk and when challenged by the café owners that food from outside is not allowed, the Somalians responded very aggressively by squaring up to them.

Only kidding, tbh I think it's an interesting topic. I think the biggest gripe people have is crime and if you look at the prison populations, or the number of arrests/convictions then Somalis do form a disproportionate amount of these figures. Then again when you look at financial crime, fraud etc Indian and Pakistanis form a disproportionate amount of the figures.

Same here, add Sri lankans to that too. Somalians here are fake gangsters, you never hear about a Somalian getting arrested but Jamaican on the other hand....nothing surprising there . At the same time, you never hear of a Nigerian getting arrested for armed robbery or a breaki-in, but you probably heard of them getting caught for credit card scamming. I have a Nigerian prince, who is also my online friend and he is currently in need of my help to transfer his $12 million out of the country. He only needs $50,000 of my Canadian money to help him sort out his problem. If i help him out, $2 million is for me to keep. Let me know anyone who wants $2 million

Pubs are on the decline in a lot of places, even white working classes probably frequent them less now with the smoking ban. Obviously a pub in the middle of a Somali community is not going to thrive, but I doubt a pub would thrive even in the middle of a Hindu population like say Wembley. I don't think those guys are big drinkers either, or at least not the sort to knock back the pints in a pub over a game of darts.

Precisely, as the makeup of the surrounding community changes, local businesses have to adapt. That would be the reason they will be looking to change the planning laws regarding the pub as it's obviously of no use in it's current form to local residents.

Not that I frequent pubs, but about 90% of Hindu's I know love a good drink or few.
Lots of Hindu's at my cricket club, all will get together quite often for drinks

That's not what I was saying though. The conversation was about the traditional English pub which tends to close down as the white working classes move out. Hindus might well love a drink but they will tend to congregate at other venues like you yourself mentioned with the cricket club. You aren't likely to see large groups of them heading for the Pig & Whistle.

There aren't many Romanians in London, but I have that up north in places like Birmingham, Peterborough etc. they do rummage through bins and if you confront them they get aggressive. They also hijack and ruin parks up there and attack people that enter.

The ones that have really damaged the Somali community's reputation in MN are the Somali women that got caught taking money in the name of charity and then sending the funds to Somalia towards jihad.

Then the usual drama followed with them not wanting to stand up in court when the Judge entered the room, since they don't follow man-made laws and only Sharia law.

There are also constant reports of Somalis from MN leaving to join Al-Shabab and ISIS.

Not good.

Generally they don't come across as too successful, although there are lots of them everywhere in low-income jobs, so it's a start. Taxi drivers in particular are almost entirely Somali. I've heard that the city neighborhoods they dominate aren't safe, but I've never been there myself.

Interestingly enough, the last time I caught a cab from the airport, after my unsuccessful trip to Knoxville TN, the driver was from Ethiopia. He was offended when I asked if he was Somali. You know, like we're offended when they mistake us for everything from Indian to Arab.
