The speed merchants comparison : Haris Rauf v Umran Malik

Umran is a 22 year old baby and will easily surpass Rauf by the time both retires. Rauf also is a nobody in Tests and ODIs.

Question of time and experience - Umran has a lot of potential to bypass Rauf.

Hard to predict the future when it comes to express pace bowler as many things can go sideways. Mainly talking about injuries.

Both are clueless bowlers. But knowing India, they always find a way to cultivate their talent.

I reckon some of those pace bullies from yesteryears were just about as good as Haris Rauf. Enjoying his sizzling yet expensive spell vs SA. Some of those guys might well have just built their reputations on the fear in batsmen - poor protection, no helmets and batsmen rarely being as aggressive as even mediocre modern batsmen.

144.44kph by Mohammad Wasim Jr - Can bowl quick.

Umran has extreme speed. He is 24. Problem is that he hasn't come through the system. Couple of years through the system and he will gain the skills.

How he uses the skills is a matter of brain.

Umran will bloom, BCCI always finds a way

Umran still young so he can still succeed. Need to play first class cricket.

Problem is, Indian management doesnt treat the express bowlers well. So, not sure how much mentoring and backup Umran will get. However, if given a chance, I am sure Umran will grow to be a pretty good talent for India. He will also have a good cushion in the form of good batting line up and good bowling partners, that Rauf and Shaheen do not enjoy.

In a lot of ways, Shaheen reminds me of Srinath. Great bowlers, just not good support bowlers around.

Very apt comparison. Think shaheen is better than srinath though in terms of ability. More skills. Sirnath was lightning quick back in his hey days however.

Both are our brothers. If 1-2 things went differently in history Umran Malik would be playing for Pakistan, and with superior fast bowling role models like the 2 W’s, Imran Khan, Shoaib Aktar, Iftikhar “The Boa Constrictor” Anjum he would be a full time player by now.

Umran was born on the wrong side of LOC.

He would have been undroppable if we was a Pakistani as Pakistani's tend to hype up and worship pace over anything else.

I have to admit today Hari’s is fast , almost as quick as Umran when he’s fully fit.

I always thought he was overrated by Pakistani fans but today I saw it with my own eyes him bowling 153 clicks back to back

Just a spray gun Kohli finished him with that 6 he hit hasn’t been the same since finished

Haris Rauf is a poor mans Wahab Riaz, never ever rated him.

Umran Malik will have to fail spectacularly in career to not be better than this guy.

Spray gun Rauf has been exposed this World Cup needs to be booted out alongside his trundling buddy afridi both finished and overrated.

Its better to not be seen instead of getting hammered every other day in international cricket and losing matches after matches for your country
yea no doubt. asian pitches dont seem to suit rauf. maybe umran would do well outside india too.
