What's new

The Talent Spotter: Ali Imran Pasha

him and sadaf hussain are two guys who really deserve a call to pakistan a
Sadaf Hussain is medium fast 26 years old so he can represent pakistan anytime in next 3 years too but

For Ali Imran Pasha & Shehzad Azam Rana who both are fast medium the coming FC Season is the last chance to represent Pakistan cricket after December 2015 when both will be 31 years old. And anyone or both of them will be given chance by Inzamam ul Haq provided both of them are amongst top 3 wicket takers next season for which their departments/regions should play Fc cricket next season and reach atleast semifinal of the Fc tournament.

Otherwise sadly it's over.

He is the fittest fast bowler in Pakistan. Lean & Muscular. Works really hard on his fitness.

In last or second last domestic T20 cup he was the only Fast bowler who was bowling yorkers with precision.

He is fast medium and bowls a heavy ball. He swings the new ball away from the right handers and he has taken most FC wickets in last 3 years in Pakistan domestic Cricket. (Consistency)

The last 4 day match he played for Pakistan A vs Srilanka A he was seriously mistreated by the captain & coach and was brought on as 2nd change while he is the new ball bowler. But still he outperformed Tabish Khan, Zia ul Haq & Mir Hamza in that match and 2 of them are picked for Pakistan A camp now.

http://www.pcb.com.pk/pakistan-a-in-sri-lanka-2015/match/27411.html

Being 30 years old doesn't help him and he has no chance of playing for Pakistan A now. So his only chance is to perform for Islamabad Leopards in domestic T20 cricket and earn a PSL contract and also once again be amongst the top 3,4 Fc wicket takers in 2016-2017 season. If he manages these 3 " IFS " which he can than he may be picked for Pakistan team at the age of 31. Although it's highly unlikely but Irfan made his comeback at that age, Aizaz Cheema, Abdul Rauf & Tanveer Ahmed also made debut for Pakistan at that age & so did Rana Naveed (unofficially)

Plympton bring back 200-wicket paceman Pasha for third spell

Last 18 Fc matches played by Ali Imran.

18 matches 98 wickets at an Average of 16.67 and a Strike Rate of 29.83.

7 fivefers and 3 tenfers in last 18 Fc games.

Second Best Right Arm Pacer in Pakistan after Mohammad Asif.

NEW Plympton skipper Dan Robotham has lured some familiar faces back to Harewood House for this season’s assault on the A Division.

Batsman in the division won’t be too pleased to hear that Pakistani paceman Imran Ali Pasha is back for a third stint with the club.

Pasha first played for Plympton in 2006, taking 55 wickets, returning in 2011 to claim another 58.

In between there were stints with Bovey Tracey (2008) and Torquay (2010) when he bagged 48 and 59 wickets respectively.

Jeremy Williams, a former 1st XI captain, is making a comeback after several years out of the game, which could be bad news for bowlers if he gets back into the thick of it.

Williams was a rising star of the Devon U19 side in the late 1990s and played for the full county side 10 times between 1998-2003.

Injuries, the difficulties of studying in the Midlands and later work commitments stopped Williams developing the promise he showed when taking 154 off Cornwall as youngster.

Williams, now 37, has restocked the kit bag at great expense and been seen at nets ahead of the new season.

New to the club is Adam Sellick, a seamer who has played in the Worcester League, while Ross Farrer has left for a job in Cornwall is playing for Falmouth.

Robotham has his sights fixed on getting Plympton back into the Premier Division at the first attempt and ending the cycle of going up one year and down again a year or two after.

“I want us to go back up and stop yo-yoing between the top two divisions,” said Robotham.

Keep an eye out for young spinner Jacob Caunter, a youth system graduate Robotham rates highly.

Imran Ali Pasha rips Hatherleigh to shreds with eight-for-nine haul

He is in form of his life but we are more worried about his 30 years age.

PLYMPTON paceman Imran Ali Pasha wrote his name into the record books with an eight-wicket haul in the 105-run win over visiting Hatherleigh.

For Imran’s eight-for- nine haul goes straight in at number four in the divisional record books.

Tenyson Roach’s 10 for 16 against Bideford (2007) remains the all-time best, followed by Danny Webster’s nine for 12 for Plymouth CS against Exeter St James (1985) and Aqeel Ahmed’s eight for eight for Barton against Braunton in 2008.

Imran displaces Braunton’s John Barnett (8-15, 2007) in the all-time list.

“Imran was unplayable and bowled beautifully, well supported by Ryan and Jamie,” said skipper Dan Robotham.

“Our attitude in the field was much more focused from last week and Imran really showed his class with the ball.”

Conditions are Harewood House were difficult for batters as the pitch was wet and the ball not carrying.

Plympton had to work hard for their tally of 143 for seven in 50 overs, which was a better total than it looked.

Opener David Ackford faced 74 balls making 21 – and Jeremy Williams was out there two balls longer for his 38.

Christian Bunney (14 off 56) and Matt Gregory(18) stuck around at the end to deny Hatherleigh extra bowling points.

“For me it was great to see the batters getting their heads down and working hard for their runs,” said Robotham.

“By no means an easy wicket to bat on, but the guys dug in and applied themselves brilliantly.

“Dave and Jez (Williams) showed great patience and skill to get us up to what we thought was a very defendable total backed up down the order well by Bunney, Gregory and Donohue.”

Hatherleigh’s bowlers put in some mean spells with Matt Thomas, Geoff Lake and Chris Jelly all going for little more than two an over.

Teriq Worrall had two for 20 and Anna Cherrington had Williams stumped.

Cherrington was the first of Imran’s victims – bowled first ball with the score on two.

Jelley (15) was the only batsman to reach double figures as Pasha worked his way down the order.

Of the rest of the batting only Danny Forrester, Geoff Lake and Ryan Davies scored runs. The other seven didn’t get a run between them.

Ryan Skinner and Jamie Lee were the other Plympton wicket takers.

Hatherlegh skipper Mark Lake won’t be dwelling long on the battering from Pakistani paceman Imran Ali Pasha.

Said Lake: “Imran was bowling halfway down the track and most of the time the ball was just shooting along the ground.

“All his wickets were either bowled or lbw and the ball didn’t hit the stumps above halfway up.

“Of course it is disappointing to get rolled out for 38, but we will put it down to one of those things.

“We bowled well to make Plympton work hard for their runs and I was pleased by that.

“Imran is probably the best bowler of his kind in our division and knew how to exploit the conditions and where to bowl, which was just back of a length.”

Most countries would love to have a bowler like Ali Imran Pasha, beautiful smooth action with good pace and height.

Yes indeed and he has now taken his last 100 Fc wickets for PIA at an average of 15 only which is the best in Pakistan.

Yes I saw this video few months ago. I guess I posted it aswell.

It was very frustrating not to see Ali Imran picked for Pentangular Cup before 2015 Odi World Cup. After being out of cricket for 3 years he had averaged 14 with a SR of 29 with in 6 matches 2 less than top wicket taker. Yet Aizaz Cheemas, Tabish Khans and Najaf Shahs were there but not him and Sadaf. He might have got a direct flight to worldcup like Sohail Khan in place of Ehsan Adil. But Alaas.

But clearly Sadaf deserves more. And you have to set precedence of Justice. So first right is of Sadaf.

We have just seen that Sami Aslam who had a very poor last Fc season but had the best numbers in last Patrons Trophy garde 2 amongst all the batsman did what in Edgbaston Test. MashaAllah.

Because of Terrible PCB Selectors & Associations Ali Imran who had the best Average & SR amonst All Gold & Silver League pacers in 2014-2015 Fc season despite it being his Comeback season after 3 years injury layoff wasn't picked for Pentangular Cup 2015 before worldcup where far inferior pacers were picked and he was ignored along with Sadaf Hussain.

Than Next Season PIA did not qualify for QEA and PCB adjusted top performers of last season in different regional teams but Ali Imran (most impressive seamer) and Mohammad Asif (most impressive offspinner) could not get selected for any teams. Ali has previously played for Sialkot and Karachi and could have easily got into Karachi te captained by Faisal Iqbal but dirty politics and Selectors ineptness resulted in him missing a complete Fc season.

He is a genuine 31 years ago who has hit a peak like Ryan Harris. Unlike 34-35 years old Sohail Khan (2-3 stress fractures) Ali Imran does not have a history of Back Issues. His Last 100 Fc wickets for PIA have come at an Ave of 17-18 and a SR of under 35 which is even better than Sadaf Hussain and He is Right Arm Fast Medium.

Lets look at his recent form.

Patrons Trophy 2015-2016

54576b721fd176af4d59115dcc9110e1.jpg

Look at his Ave & SR. Waqas Ahmed is very good and i rate him too and look at Ali's Ave & SR to all other Bowlers on Spin friendly wickets.

Now look at his exploits in last League match of division two in England :

b1f02a007a0114aa7cd0fa639ef08d4c.jpg

5 bowled, 1 Lbw and 1 caught behind.

We need one Tall Fast Medium Fast bowler for the Test Tour of Australia. I am sure if Inzamam gets a look at Ali Imran in QEA Inter department qualifying round matches or QEA Trophy than He will catch his Eye Surely.

Moreover Shoaib Mohammad & Ghulam Ali who both are associated with PIA should tell Inzamam about Ali Imran.

Just saw the video. That's one heck of a spell. He's 31 years old and it beats me how come he 's not been on the radar of selectors? Instead of going back to anwar alis and bilawal bhatti, new talented pacers should have been picked. Fast bowlers have short life thats something jahil selectors don't get.

Still bowling 136 to 147 kph so doesn't matter.

31 year old bhai he was highest wicket taker back in 2011-12 as I found out ..his action reminds me a little of Mohanti.

Sohail Khan is 32 officially and Umar Gul is 33 Officially.

4 years Ago Ali Imran Pasha was given the nod by Selectors that He would be selected for Pakistan Team after He had a great season. He was about to be named in Pakistan Team. He had a niggle and QEA Trophy final was about to be played. It had to be telecasted live so some people advised him that he should not miss the televised match as He would get into Public Eye and his selection would be confirmed.

Young Man played and his Knee niggle became a serious Injury just like Jerome Tailor and he missed 3 years of Cricket due to knee Injury.

In 2014-2015 the Promissing 29 years old Fast Medium 6'3 Pacer made a comeback to Cricket and played 7 matches and took 38 wickets including 2 fivefers and 2 tenfers at an Ave of 14.76 and a SR of 29.5.

These Averages & Strike Rates were the best amongst all Silver & Gold League bowlers.

2015 Odi Worldcup was around the corner. Shockingly inferior bowlers were picked for Pentangular Cup and the stand out Ali Imran Pasha & Sadaf Hussain were ignored.

Next Year PIA did not qualify for QEA trophy and again Selectors adjusted many top players of last season in regional sides but they ignored the pacer with most impressive numbers. Easily he could have been drafted in Khi team lead by Faisal Iqbal. Ali also previously played for Khi Teams.

In Qualifying round Ali Imran took 16 wickets at 23 with a fivefer but PIA failed to qualify.

This Season Ali Imran Pasha reprrsented PIA in Patrons Trophy Grade 2. Single handedly he won PIA Patrons Trophy Grade 2 tournament and was the highest wicket taker amongst Fast bowlers. He took 24 wickets at an Ave of 12.58 and SR of 21.79 with 1 fivefer and 1 tenfer.

Now He will represent PIA in QEA Trophy.

Recently in his last match for Plymton Cc in UK these were his figures :

5.4 overs 7-5. Opposotion dismissed for 18.

5 bowled, 1 Lbw, 1 caught behind.

This is his FC Record of his Last 18 Fc matches for PIA :

18 Matches 98 wickets at an Ave of 16.67 and a SR of 29.83 with 7 fivefers and 3 tenfers.

This record of last 18 matches is better than Sadaf's, Mir Hamza's, Mohammad Abass's, Sohail Khan's, Ehsan Adil's, Shehzad Azam Rana's record of last 18 Fc matches in terms of Ave, SR, number of fivefers and tenfers.

Ali Imran Pasha is Fast Medium who could bowl few at 145 to 147 kph. He is Tall and has an action which is hybrid of Shane Bond and Mohammad Zahid. He gets good bounce.

He is the 2nd best Right Arm Pacer in Pakistan after Asif and Both Asif & Ali should be selected for Test Tour of Australia if she prove their Form and fitness in first 6-7 matches of QEA Trophy 2016-2017.

1. Asif

2. Amir

3. Wahab

4. Ali Imran

5. Amad Butt

6. Rahat/Hasan/Sohail/Imran/
Ehsan/Shehzad/Zia

Will be the Ideal Pace Bowling Attack for Australian Pitches in Test Cricket.

I hope these players impress Inzamam and other Selectors in first 6-7 matches of QEA and get themselves selected.

When he played Any Domestic Cricket after 3 years gap 2 years ago look at his Ave & SR and compare it with all the other Top wicket takers in Gold or Silver League

What about Hasan Ali? Where does he fit in this list according to you?

Amazing insight as always.

What about Hasan Ali? Where does he fit in this list according to you?

Thank You Brother.

Hasan Ali is a good Prospect. He has impressed in last two domestic seasons, Pakistan A & PSL.

For Me He, Amad Butt, Ehsan Adil, Mir Hamza & Zia ul Haq , Majid Ali & Ghulam Mudassir are the Best Under 25 pacers in Pakistan.

Ehsan would have been the best amongst them but his fitness is the worst amongst them. He has height, swing seam and pace but for only his first spell and to a certain degree 2nd Spell.

Zia has improved but still needs more control on line and length.

Mir Hamza is fit for Eng & Sa conditions as he is only medium fast.

Majid needs another season.

Ghulam needs 1 or 2 seasons.

Hasan is ready. He needs to put on more muscle to gain few kph which he needs because he is only 5'9. For Test Debut England or South Africa would have been ideal for him while in Odi cricket he can play at all places.

He bowls nice outswingwrs with new ball and is fast medium.

Why i have kept him amongst 6 bowlers fighting for number 6 spot in test squad of 18 ? Just because of height.

Because on Australian wickets you need either Fast bowlers or Tall bowlers. But still he makes my team if He outperforms Ehsan, Imran, Shehzad, Sohail, Zia, Majid in First 6-7 Qea trophy matches.

In Odi series vs England i want him to bowl in either Good Length Zone, Short Pitch Zone or Yorker length. That's how he will succeed. Because being 5"9 if he would pitch in full length zone than because he does not get much bounce he will be easy to hit on the up by Attacking English Odi Batsman. So when he aims to bowl outswingers with new ball than He should slightly short of ful length zone. For batsman that would be Khichee hui lemgth where they would not be sure of either to play on front foot or backfoot and furthermore hitting on the up will be difficult.

I wish Hasan would have been atleast 4 inches taller as a pacer.

Yaar he looks quality, but for a pacer, his age is an issue.

Yes, Sohail & Gul etc. are in their 30s but most of them seem to be struggling with fitness issues every now and then, and they have proved themselves at the international level.

By the time Ali Imran does all that, it may be too late...

Still, can be a good short-termish solution and I wish him the best of luck.

Fair point on the height. I can see why that is an issue.

To a lesser extent, Bilawal Bhatti is challenged by similar height concerns. Lots of pace, but doesn't get that natural bounce.

It's nice to see the talent you've listed though. We have a clear need for quality right arm pacers. Just require a few of these lads to stand up and perform on the big stage.

* if they prove :-)

InshAllah they both will.

Very good insight I give you this and I really want this deserving individual getting his valid chance to play at the highest level, but at the age of 31-32 how much he can serve Pakistan...I really hope that he is picked and I hope that he is one of the kind fast bowler who can play competitive cricket til 36-37, but it is not common and very very difficult.

I would always prefer someone younger and raw age between 21-25 to be picked so he have future of atleast 10 years to show his craft play through possible and common injuries and serve the cause for longer period of times.

Also I am absolutely not in favor of selecting likes of Gul and Sohail Khan they are just has been who are now selected for God knows what reasons, but than we have 25 year old 35 looking Iftikhar selected based on strange reason so what to question.

Quality bowler this guy. Another one of the wasted talents from our domestic setup.

51 wickets for Ali Imran Pasha in this Season uptil now with 3 fivefers at an Average of 9.59 and a SR of 17.67.

Has Scored 482 runs with 4 Fifties at an Average of 28.35.

Let's see how he Performs in QEA Trophy for PIA in upcoming Fc Season.

Anwar Ali is the Captain of PIA and just look at what he is doing.

Because of No Money in Pakistan Domestic Cricket these players have to Compromise. Even Off Season they do not get rest as they have to work for their families by playing physically draining long seasons of League Cricket in England.

Too Much of Non Stop Cricket and No Rest , No time for Recuperation and here is the Result.

Ali is missing his 3rd match of the Season because of Hamstring issue. Amongst Pacers he has bowled one of the Best Spell this Season along with Asif. Ali's Career Best but He got injured once again at the very wrong time.

He may miss either 1 more match or the entire season depending upon the Injury.

This is so so frustrating :(

The Best Spell of QEA this year is bowled by a guy who just played 2 Fc matches.

7-20 in 13.3 overs that too after coming in to bowl as 2nd change.

(I know Asif's spell was catchy, spicy & magical)

Skillwise Ali is only inferior to Asif in Pakistan.

Played only 2 matches yet has best Ave & SR amongst all.

Ruled out of QEA because of Hamstring injury. Will be back for Odi's now. Management has asked him to get fit for One Day Cup.

In 2005 Bob Woolmer wanted to take him to Australia for the Test & Odi series but Inzamam said No as he wanted to go with seniors. So he missed out.

Than in 2010-2011 He had his best FC season and selectors gave him green signal for selection. He had a minor injury and he played the final as it was televised and injury got aggravated and like Jerome Taylor he missed 3 years of competitive Cricket.

Bowlers with inferior skillset, ability, speed, bounce, striking power than Ali played for Pakistan from than to this day like Irfan, Ehsan, Aizaz, Rahat & Imran and Ali missed out. Ali had that distinct flavour of Pakistani Pacers. The Raw, exciting, Agressive wicket takers with a lot of tricks and traps.

Today PTV SPORTS on their page have shared a Video of Ali Imran Pasha when he made comeback to competitive cricket after a gao of 3 years in 2014.

Here is that video :

If he gets 100 % fit, plays all matches of one day cup than he can become top wicket taker because Sadaf is not having a good time.

So what is your opinion ? Will he wear the Star at 31 or is it all over ?

Personally I felt that He had a chance for Tests in Australia if he played all Fc matches because in my view he would have significantly outperformed Tabish & Abass. His last 107 Fc wickets have come at Ave of 16 and SR of 28.

Wanted Asif or Ali for the Aussie tour but now only Asif has 10-20 % chance if he wins Qea Trophy for Wapda by his bowling heroics. (If he attains 100 % fitness)

Feel sorry for him to be honest had inzi picked him during that 05 series he could have played around 70+ plus tests by now. Such a shame we have wasted his career. If we could give chances to bowlers like Anwar ali, bhatti, asad ali etc then why not him. I hate to say but unfortunately the ship has sailed for him. Such a shame as @Cheif Destroyer said his only chance is mickey spotting him, other then that I have no hope for his selection.

I hope he does get a chance.

IT would have been better if he had got a chance earlier, maybe then he wouldn't have had to play all year round.
Playing as a overseas pro for Plmyton cc has taken a toll on him.

Very strong bowling action, seen a bit of him before, hits deck hard, would absolutely thrive in Australia and NewZealand. Unfortunately entire nation is obsessed with one tour wonder Mohammad Amir to look at any other bowler

I have uploaded his Fc Career Best Spell of 7-20 in 13.3 overs on Youtube.

This was his first Fc match of Quaid e Azam Trophy 2016.

Watch it on Youtube & Dailymotion and spread the word. (Type Ali Imran Pasha's or 7-20 in Search Bar)

I wonder how many players have suffered due to our inept domestics and selectors. What's even more scary is the prospect of how many more we'll lose in the future. So disheartening.

Another wasted talent... Was watching the 2004 U19 WC highlights and he was getting genuine movement with the white ball and has still maintained his skills even now, 12 years later.

Yet the players he was playing against in that U19 game, Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Utappa, both are now international level cricketers (moreso, Dhawan) yet this poor guy is to debut still...

Now he is 31, and again looks like we'll bring him in at 33 or 34 when he is finished.

Really pathetic.

But no ofc let's keep persisting with the dross.

Inzi the savior as few hyped him up to be is no better than the rest.

Ali Imran Pasha still has a chance.

He is training very hard and preparing for the domestic Odi tournament.

In the Odi tournament only Junaid, Ghulam & Sadaf (if he regains his form) are the pacers who can challenge him for the top spot if Ali remains fit. Loved watching his Qea spell this year.

If he performs than Inzamam must take notice of his performances and select him.

Had he stayed fit during Fc season he genuinely had a chance to tour Australia. 10 years ago Bob wanted him for tour of Australia but Inzamam wanted experienced pacers so he missed out.

Amir
Asif
Ali
Wahab
Yasir

Would have been ideal bowling line up But :-/

Exactly. PCB has destroyed the careers of so many youngsters who could have made it big for Pak. I've noticed the same attitude by some posters here who deliberately undermine the talent in domestic circuit to defend the pathetic selections in current squad.

He has missed playing for Pakistan mainly because of 3-4 years Injury lay off.

Read my old posts in this thread.

Yes I've read your old posts, thanks. I think Inzamam was unfair in not selecting him when he was the captain. That was the perfect time for his debut.

No one is deliberately undermining talent, you only have to take a glimpse to see some of the rubbish playing in Pakistan's premier FC tournament.

But Ali Imran has been wasted by the selectors and the PCB. Unfortunately the ship has sailed pass.

Must Watch his 7-20 spell on Youtube this season. His Rhythm, Running speed, control, ball pace & bounce tells you that He can still make it and play for Pakistan for 3-6 years.

Test Cricket is all about winning Test Matches and Test Series. There is No Worldcup so even if he can manage a Shane Bond or Ryan Haris like Career with slightly inferior numbers I ll take it with both hands.

At 31 he can play next WC aswell which is 2 years away if he maintains his pace until than.

Agree, would have been a very good inclusion in Pak pace attack, but due to selector's poor vision, bad luck and injuries at worst possible times, it did not happen. Has already missed the bus, don't think he will make to the national side now. Not playing regularly this season also.

He’s playing in US now along with all the other mercenaries. He’s probably in a much better place now than he was few years ago
