He will do it too. If the current lot at PCB/Domestic don't measure up, there will be a new one...and a new one...until he gets it right.

I was there at the "Jalsa". Atmosphere was electrifying when he made the announcement to fix Cricket. If true, this alone could win him the re-election. :)

Thats rubbish. Cricket shouldnt be a criteria to get him re-elected. Cricket is a non-factor.

Your first part was a bit strange. Did you mean improper system?

Stick to cricket and stick to the topic ONLY

Watching this man for decades, he does what he says, I have no doubt he will fix the cricket matters also. Better days are ahead for Pak cricket.

Malik

He will be in T20 world cup. Imran thinks we're fools.

The only way I'd believe him if he's able to drop this dead weight. The biggest con artist in the history of cricket.

Drop Malik and we'll see how much you mean it.

Can Saj ask Premier Khan how this team was unprofessional?

Can Saj ask Premier Khan how this team was unprofessional?

Wahab Riaz makes a comeback for the WC after being totally out of the plans for ~2 years

Amir is dropped for ~6months and makes a last minute comeback into the team for the WC

Husnain comes out of no where, with almost no cricket under his belt to get selected in the WC squad. What was the point of selecting him?

Just months before the world cup (vs Aus in UAE) is when the experimenting is going on with stand in captains and a bunch of new players being introduced. That should've been done 2 years ago

Shaheen, Shinwari, Junaid, Harris, Rizwan were all heavily involved with the ODI team in the last year, and were all either dropped from the squad all together or not in the team to begin the tournament

The entire approach to the WC was unprofessional. The team overachieved and missed the semi final by a hair, but lets not mask everything that has happened (and didn't happen) in the last 2 years

More than domestic structure

The club cricket in Pakistan is dying, something has to be done to reinvigorate it. There has to be a future road map on improving overall cricket infrastructure, building more stadiums in less developed regions.

Yep.

The selection of Hasnain looks silly now. What was the point of bringing him when he didn't even get a single game, that too despite Hasan flopping and Shaheen struggling early doors.

It’s called box ticking from the selectors, yes we selected a youngster - a way to fool the media and critics who otherwise would have overly criticised the selection of mediocre seniors despite their lack of fitness/form -Hafeez, Malik, Wahab etc.

It was picked from an unprofessional joke of a domestic system.

The domestic system is not unprofessional.

Yes it can be better but so can many systems around the world.

What makes this team unprofessional is my question.

some personal hatred coming out of certain people .. for years on this forum, we have been crying how unprofessional the team has been and now that Imran Khan had said it, some mindset is suddenly making this the "most professional and amazing team" ....

seems weird to read the words "pakistan" and "professional" in the same sentence without the the the descriptors "un-" or "not" lol. if he can do it it will be a great accomplishment. had we played the first game with more professionalism, we would be in the semi finals and anything is possible from there.

very true... a professional team would have blasted the hell out of hassan ali for getting out while slogging blindly .. a professional team is where at 88/5 coternile walks in and with smith plays the innings that wins aus the match... a professional team doesnt let their best batsmen (Harris Sohail) sit on side lines and let malik play the games.... a professional team doesnt yawn on the field .. doesnt eat the way these guys eat ... the are excellent team and very unlucky to get out of the semi-final race but if they had been more professional, dont see us not being in the final 4

Still too many cronies at the PCB doing very little that need to be weeded out. Many of these guys are from the previous regime and have done next to nothing for many years.

His fixing the system so far has been bringing back musharraf's a and b team, inzimam to make a comeback as a captain then?

2019 squad was best since 1999 WC. 2003 had too many past it players.

2015 was the all time worst.

2007 was worse. 2015 had some quality players and played like a team. 2007 was a clueless group of bits and pieces guys led by a clueless captain. Irfan, Wahab, Sohail and Rahat are considerably better than Rana Naved, Rao Iftikhar, Sami and Gul. Gul was just coming back from injury that time i remember.

Not to forget we had the likes of Hafeez, Nazir, Younis, Malik and Kamraan in our batting lineup.

The lineup of 2019 is ATG level compared to the ones we played in 2007 and 2015.

2007 wc saw Shohaib and asif banner a few months prior so yes to lose your premier bowlers means the back up is going to be inferior

Hopefully, need to rid the PCB of all filth first and foremost

What makes this team unprofessional is my question.

Well if you think the domestic system isn't unprofessional then I don't think anyone will be able to answer your query to your satisfaction. There's levels to this.

It's a big call by the PM. He is reliant on good, trustworthy, honest, hard-working people around him, but I'm not sure there are enough of them at the PCB currently.

At least there will be no Malik and Afridi. Sarfaraz is another one who most likely will not be around in four years time. We live in hope.

If you think about it, as a captain he was very quick to identify and replace players who had passed their best.

He dropped his own cousin Majid Khan at the age of 35 - surely he wouldn’t tolerate older, inferior players like Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik?

He dropped Wasim Bari as keeper because he could get more runs out of Saleem Yousaf (who couldn’t catch). Surely he wouldn’t keep Sarfraz Ahmed instead of Mohammad Rizwan?

He recognised the need for all-rounders which often meant that Wasim Akram batted at 10 and Abdul Qadir at 11. Surely he would see the value of Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan, not just in terms of shortening the tail but also having a fifth bowler in Tests so the main three quicks can bowl shorter, faster spells.

Can Imran Khan be PM and cricket selector at the same time? I think he can do that technically. He has a good cricket brain.

what he says usually comes true after 22 years , so there is a strong chance that we will win 20143 world cup.

I have a feeling Imran might tell Mani to take a background role, and let the two Wasims run cricket - let Wasim Khan run the administrative side and Wasim Akram should be given title of Director of Cricket and Chief Selector.

That’s your best hope, Wasim Akram knows and understands the modern game better than anyone around in Pakistan, and after Imran he was the only captain who actually backed youth and had an eye for talent.

What role will the Great Mohammad Hafeez get? :D

It is a professional set up, how can you deny that? Unless we have different definitions of professionalism. Pakistan has not been an amateur cricket side for decades. The national set up has a string of coaches, nutritionists and so on.

Like I said, there is room for improvement and I have been very vocal supporter of changing the domestic system, especially for first class cricket. Teams should not be based around banks and water organisations etc but to call it unprofessional is incorrect.

After his appointment of Ehsan Mani, who is not only too old and but no longer the competent man he used to be as a cricket chief, as epitomised by his handling of Sarfraz after his remarks towards Andile. He just brushed it aside, as if there wasn't much wrong with what he did. This was a perfect opportunity to replace Sarfraz with a more exemplary presence.

I would take these words from IK with a pinch of salt and that's coming from an IK fan. In respect of cricket, he's been a disappointment so far, but I hope he proves me wrong. I have faith in Wasim Khan with his expertise to deliver the structural reforms required, however there is a very strong lobby (particularly from useless PCB employees) against him and I fear IK and Mani will bow down to their pressure because neither of them seem to have the bottle to make these kind of changes, due to their fear of a backlash.

PM Imran should give Hafeez a ‘senior’ role in PIA (Pakistan International Airlines) , given his vast 18 years experience as a ‘passenger’ flying all around the world with the national cricket team.

I’m sure he knows exactly what it takes to make passengers happy.

I think Wasim Akram knows which side his bread his buttered on and will only involve himself in Pakistan cricket from a distance or where there are easy and big pay-days, such as PCB talent-hunt days, 2 or 3 day coaching camps etc.

Whilst he's not mentioned it directly, Imran is clearly unhappy with the current set-up and no doubt some of the players and the levels of professionalism.

I can already tell what will happen. The state of cricket in Pakistan will pretty much be similar to what it is right now. Those who'll be pointing that out will face the counter argument that our 2019 side wasn't any better, making the current promise rather harmless and inconsequential.

One thing for sure that he is not happy with the WC show. Bringing changes or being professional doesn’t mean PAK PM is promising a WC win for PAK, rather what he is suggesting is quite encouraging. First encouragement is that, someone has accepted usual things are not working - a change is needed. I wrote many times in past regarding the domestic cricket reforms (regarding his tweets) that a PM can’t elaborate the detail plan over 2-3 tweets (even Trump isn’t that good😜) - but eventually what they came up with is quite impressive (on papers, Wasim Khan & PCB still has to implement that).

I think, PM knows that most people are not happy with WC show as well (PP might not agree with me, doesn’t matter), he had to address the dissatisfaction of mass. There are lots of “unprofessionalism” shown/practiced by PAK WC squad outside usual picks here - I for example can say that a professional unit don’t miss WC SF for blowing NRR on first game, then not trying to amend that in next 8!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, that scenario was warned/explained many, many times, even before the start of WC.

I am sure we’ll see some, if not lots of changes in PCB & PCT outside usual practice in next 4 years - let’s hope it’s for the better turn of fortune. One thing for sure, Imran won’t leave it untried - if not 2020, then may be by 2022, 2025, but he’ll get something done before throwing the towel.

we always hear that seniors pay to stay in the team, this has never been proved..
