What's new

The Unpredictable Pakistan team is back after 12 years!

No progress by the Pakistani team, always collapse under pressure, pathetic tactics and same old issues with the players

What do you expect under Misbah and Waqar?

These people are polar opposite of what Mushtaq, Imran used to do. They're changing the DNA of Pakistan cricket.

It's sad that individually Pakistani players do well but fail collectively.

Let's open up their achievements

This is unarguably the strongest test side in Indian history
They beat the weakest AUS side in 2016 that had no Smith and Warner AUS C basically. The one in 2020 was special but that too came against an AUS side that is not even in the top 3 in the ICC rankings.

The ranking system is flawed, I cannot accept a side as the number one test team that got hammered in NZ, SA and ENG consistently. Pakistan became number one too but that was a complete fluke as these rankings are completely out of order. They don't award anything extra for beating opposition overseas.

Honestly this Indian team would get hammered by Pakistan team of the 1980s or even 1990s

Pakistan team of 1980s defeated
Eng in Eng many times
India in India
NZ in NZ
SA weren't a test side back then but we did draw against them and AUS as well in 1995

This Indian team cannot be taken seriously unless they win anything in SEN or win a WTC.

No ranking system is perfect, but the imperfections are there for everyone. The fact that India has sustained the best cumulative ranking among all Test teams over the last 5-6 years shows that they have been the best team of this era.

India are incredible at home and they might not be perfect away from home, they have still done better than other teams away from home, and this is why they have been the best team.

To be the best you do not have to be perfect; you have to be better than anyone else around you.

No Test team over the last 5-6 years has more achievements and success than India.

You may not accept India as the strongest side over this period but you cannot name a single team that has a stronger claim of being the best side during this period.

Pakistan’s 90’s team would get demolished by this team especially in Asia. From 1995 to 2000, Pakistan was an embarrassing Test team and lost 5-6 series at home.

A lot of batsmen of that Pakistan team except Anwar and Inzamam would not even get close to the bench of this Indian team.

As far as the 80’s are concerned, sure that was a quality Pakistan side, but they lost to Sri Lanka in 1985 when Sri Lanka was a minnow, and it was only the second Test win for Sri Lanka in that decade.

Kohli’s India would demolish that Sri Lanka in Asia today. In fact, it is arguably the strongest team in Asian conditions ever.

I don’t think India would be bothered about Pakistani fans not taking them seriously. Pakistan is a mediocre and irrelevant team now, and the voices of its fans hold little value. Pakistan is no longer viewed as a rival and competitor to India because we are now a lower-tier team like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.

Besides, Pakistani fans should be the last fans in the world to be dismissive of series wins in Australia considering the fact that even the Australia U-15 team will embarrass us in Australia.

The last time Pakistan did not lose a Test match in Australia, Miandad was still playing international cricket. That utterly embarrassing fact sums it up.

Also, the 2021 series win in Australia proved that beating Australia without Smith and Warner in 2018 was not a fluke. It was a beautiful shut up call to everyone who was dismissive of India’s success in 2018.

Besides, the current Australian bowling attack of Cummins-Starc-Hazlewood-Lyon is among the strongest bowling units Australia has ever had and Smith is Australia’s greatest Test batsman since Bradman.

Learn to respect and acknowledge the success of teams that are far better than your team. The talent, skill and mentality of Indian players is something that our players can only dream of, and living in denial and downplaying their success does not devalue their success; it only makes us look small and bitter.

There is no unpredictability. Our team is predictably mediocre. Winning an odd match here and there doesn't make us unpredictable. I hate this tag. We've been using it as an excuse to justify our inability to consistently win against better teams.

We are likely to lose an ODI series to Australia, England, India and New Zealand home and away.
In Tests, we haven't played India in 14 years. We will be clean swept by Australia and New Zealand away and draw/lose to England away while we can beat them at home. We are a good test team at home but awful away.
T20is, I don't really take the format seriously, but we aren't winning a t20i series in Australia or NZ anytime soon.

Did you see what West Indies did to Australia ?

Yes, WI is a very good t20 team. One of the best actually. They do tend to struggle a bit against the teams with a strong spin attack though.

Pakistan isn't going to beat Australia in a t20i series in Australia any time soon.

I won't acknowledge a team that won no test series in the last 12 years in SA/NZ/ENG

Speaking of ICC tournaments since Pakistan's downfall started in 2009 we've won 2 and so have India.
It's a shame that a country of 1,billion+ with a robust system cannot win a single ICC event since 2013.

I am sorry that doesn't earn any respect.

Yes I agree they do attend to struggle but to beat Australia 4-1 is a huge effort.

Tbh I really want the unpredictable Pakistan. I want the consistent Pakistan where I would expect them to win 8 out 10 matches.

Its great we beat India, one of the best games for me.

But let's not get carried away. Its still one game, a T20 at that, hardly the dawn of an era. Meaningless if we won't win the thing.
