The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has changed its name to Cricket West Indies (CWI).

This was disclosed by President Dave Cameron, who said the board has also decided to form a corporate entity with the financial aspect of the cricket and the company will be named Windies.

Cameron said the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) is now named Cricket West Indies (CWI) and “we have also formed a company to deal with the commercial matters of West Indies cricket and this is called Windies as we continue to explore ways to take West Indies cricket forward and this rebranding is necessary as we move along”.

Cricket West Indies (CWI) now falls in line with Cricket Australia (CA), Cricket New Zealand (CNZ), and Cricket South Africa (CSA), all of whom have rebranded themselves for marketing purposes.

Cameron said the board is open to partnerships with corporate entities in moving forward and hence forming the company Windies was essential.

Meanwhile, West Indies’ proposed tour of Pakistan for two Twenty20s in March has been called off. Cricket West Indies said it has rejected the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) proposal after receiving advice on security from the Federation of International Cricketers’ Associations (FICA).

The WICB also canceled an expected security inspection, which was planned for later this month.

The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) wrote to FICA, seeking advice on the current security situation in Pakistan.

FICA reportedly gave WIPA an update from its security consultant, Eastern Start International, which provides security for various international boards including, Cricket Australia, New Zealand Cricket and the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Earlier this month, FICA’s report on player safety and security strongly discouraged players from traveling to Lahore for the Pakistan Super League final, scheduled for March 5.

So should PCB change its name to Cricket Pakistan :D

Another point of interest:

"The WICB also canceled an expected security inspection, which was planned for later this month"

Am sure that visit was to coincide with Giles Clarke's visit?

If they want the true taste of success, they should have named themselves the Board of Control of Cricket in the West Indies AKA BCCWI. :batman:

What's the difference ,worst is for data guys who have to change it across probably the stamps and what not, waste of time.

I wish they collapse and each individual country get their own cricket atleast they ll play for pride then.

which Carribiean Cricket team will be most competitive in internationals if the board collapse ?

lol best decision they ever made, a new name will distance themselves from their past mistakes rofl.

I think Trinidad is also very good team as well
so we could have 2 competitive good team's for international if they split

But that would mean guys like Darren Sammy would never amount to much and we would miss out on talents like him since smaller states like St. Louis wouldn't have very competitive sides.

This same Windies was the envy of the world in the 70s and 80s, it didnt matter back then which island you belonged too. I think WICB or CWI is to blame for their demise in cricket.

Its sad really to see how much they have regressed, but I think all 6 islands will be allowed to play internationals cricket, talents like Darren Sammy will play play for their respective country's so we won't miss out them bro!!

Need to change more than this to improve West Indies cricket. A sad decline.
