"There comes a time for people to move on. PCB has fresh ideas, there will be changes" : Wasim Khan

Dawn, however, learnt that eight employees from Lahore and three from Rawalpindi are on the list of terminated employees and the numbers could increase in the coming weeks.

Yes hearing that 11 more jobs gone, with more to follow.

People were crying was has there been no clean up in the PCB in the last 10-15 years. Now that the PCB is downsizing, people are still complaining and crying why

Jobless scorers demand PCB contracts

KARACHI: The jobless international scorers have demanded of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to offer them contracts as they are passing through the most difficult time of their life.

“You know around 50 percent of international scorers are jobless. Some of them have been working since long. If those who have the experience of 10 to 15 years are offered contracts by the PCB it would help them live with grace,” a scorer who has around 20 years experience told The News on Thursday.

Another scorer, who has around 26 years’ experience, told this correspondent that scorers are the most vital part of Pakistan’s cricket but they are shabbily treated.“You know there are so many experienced scorers who have served PCB on meagre compensation in the past and have served the Board in the most difficult times. Those who are jobless, depend on only match fee and they deserve contracts, and the PCB mercy” the scorer said.

There are around 80 scorers in Pakistan who have been delivering their services over the years both at the national level and international level.

“Those who have jobs are capable to survive particularly in this lockdown but jobless scorers are facing tough times these days and they need support from the Board,” a scorer stressed. A scorer said offering contracts to 15 or 20 experienced jobless scorers would not affect the PCB exchequer.

“Offering around Rs30,000 to Rs40,000 to 15 or 20 scorers would not affect the PCB financially. The Board’s other officials are drawing huge salaries and cricketers have also been given huge boost in their contracts but scorers are not being looked after by the Board the way they deserved,” a scorer said.

It has been learnt that the PCB has not given the match fee of the 5th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as yet to the scorers. The scorers have also not been handed compensation for delivering their services in some women events also before the PSL.

This correspondent has learnt that the PCB has also not given Rs10,000 which it had announced to be given to the scorers before Eid-ul-Fitr.“Yes we have applied for that money but we are yet to receive it,” a scorer said.“Currently we have no money and are unable to survive particularly in the lockdown. We don’t know when cricket will resume. We don’t have jobs and the PCB should think about us,” a scorer said.

The PCB is treating scorers so badly that they have not even n given even special room and conveyance facilities during PSL and international matches. And they have been seen coming to the venue on motor-cycles. On the hand umpires are given good protocol and every kind of facilities. The scorers also suffered a lot due to no international cricket in Pakistan for the last few years.

Pretty weak leadership by Ehsan Mani and Wasim Khan. Just a little bit of noise in the media and they have overturned their decision in a jiffy. Pakistani media anchors, sports journalists, ex players are known to bark in the media and to create a lot of noise with the aim to create a lot of pressure to get their way. Strong leaders stick to their decisions if they completely believe in them.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has withdrawn termination of service notices served to 55 staffers earlier this week.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan: “The vast overstaffing that the current Board has inherited remains a long-term sustainability issue for the PCB. Making changes is about timing and, on reflection, the process and communication needed to be better.

“As a responsible organisation, we have reviewed our decision and acted quickly to withdraw the notices.”

Meanwhile, the PCB will continue the exercise to restructure and rationalize its staff numbers and will make necessary decisions in due course. The PCB presently has an overall strength of 710 across the country, including 361 and 70 in Lahore and Karachi offices, respectively.

This decision reeks of weakness and bowing down to the pressure from the media mafia who are known to create controversies and get their way by hook or by crook. If you have made a decision then you have to stick by it. If you don’t that means there hasn’t been a complete home work.

PCB has ridiculously huge staff under them. 710 is a huge number and along with the money being spent on everyone it diverts any sort of accountability. You have to select people for specific jobs and make them accountable not to just somehow accommodate each one of them. They need to lower down their staff and I remember Ehsan Mani talking about this as early as his first PC but I just don’t think this is the time to hand them the termination letters. You should’ve done that early or you have to now wait for some time. Tell them in advance about your plans so that there is a smooth transition for these low salary earners.

17 years experience needed

I think, they are asking for 10-12 years experience, not 17 - it says 10+ years inclusive of 5-7 in leadership roles, however after professional certification. They are looking for a Chartered Accountant or CFA or FCMA (or CPA in North America) holder, on top of university graduation and that 10-12 years experience is post-pro qualification (means 10+ years as CA or CFA or FCMA), which should end up with 15+ years of experience in total. Very short but specific JD for the CFO role - my hunch is, they have someone in mind already. Nothing wrong in that though - that’s the norm for most top tier hirings.

Nothing directly from PCB on this which is very strange.

None of the usual, thank you for your services, wish you well, nonsense.

Sack them, then reverse that decision.

Seems like some at the PCB are losing the plot.

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has started reviewing the performance of coaches of the last domestic season, ARY Sports reported.

According to sources, the performance of the 54 coaches working with various domestic teams will be reviewed.

The committee will review the performance of the first XI, second XI, U19, U16, and U13 coaches.

There are strong reports against some coaches, however, the committee will also take coaches’ stance after reviewing the reports.

The decision to call the coaches or take their stance on the video link will be made later. Coaches might be reshuffled across the teams on the basis of their performances.

Sources also revealed that the proposal of dismissing coaches who did not follow the rules is also under consideration. The committee will complete its work by the end of this month.

The committee will also consult the new head of the High-Performance Centre, Grant Bradburn. The head of High-Performance Coaching will also be able to question the coaches on their performance.

Bradburn will decide the future of coaches in the light of the committee’s report.

Therein lies the issue.

Good that they realized it then.

There was a time that PCB heads would shamelessly have claimed there is nothing wrong

That doesn't mean 17 years experience. It means a total of 10-12 of which 5-7 should be in leadership roles.

Javed Murtaza appointed PCB’s Chief Financial Officer

Lahore, 30 July 2020:

The Pakistan Cricket Board today announced the appointment of Lahore-based Javed Murtaza as its new Chief Financial Officer following a thorough and robust recruitment process. The appointment was approved by the Board of Governors through a circular resolution on Thursday.

With nearly 30 years of work experience, Javed is a seasoned finance professional with hands-on experience in all aspects of commercial operations, financial planning and analysis, corporate finance, financial and managerial accounting, internal and external audits, international taxation and ERP implementation.

Javed is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Pakistan, in England and Wales and is also a Certified Public Accountant from Virginia State Board of Accountancy, USA. He also holds Master’s degree in Business Administration from the USA.

He has previously worked for KPMG in Toronto and Singapore, and with Ernst & Young in London. His last assignment was as head of Financial Planning and Analysis of six countries for one of the fortune-five-hundred European multinational companies operating in Pakistan.

PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani: “I welcome Javed Murtaza to the PCB family and with the experience he brings, I am confident he will make a meaningful contribution to the organisation as we continue to aspire towards good governance, strong financial management and transparency.”

Javed Murtaza will assume charge from Monday, 3 August.

Fresh Ideas of The Great Wasim Khan is working.

He appointed Misbah as head coach + selector and now Pakistan will be winless in England after 14 years.

He copies Australian model but Pakistan population is much much bigger than Australia. It will not work for Pakistan.

Now they appointed mediocre coaches like Razzaq, Faisal Iqbal, Riffat Ullah Mohmand lol.

PCB is working on Hayat Abad Cricket stadium just for 10k people.

But he still Loves Pakistan.

Najam Setti where are you?

Giving the likes of Basit Ali a job in PCB undermines a lot of the alleged good work PCB has done.

It's ok getting rid of the dead wood, but then it makes no sense to re-appoint more dead wood.

What do you think about Najam Setti?

He has made possible the PSL, he appointed Micky Arthur, who was far better than this mediocre Misbah, He has started Int team tours to Pakistan.

It's really annoying to see that we obviously have no trust in our domestic system as we thrust 17 year olds into international cricket without letting them develop first. Yet at the same time we expect the same FC set up to be coached by unspectacular ex players who have no notable credentials or achievements in a coaching capacity?

Pakistan need to accept their current shortcomings and get foreign coaches back into the top positions of our cricket.

Wasim himself is the biggest failure.

He conned us with the “I left England to help Pakistan” drama.

Lanat on this useless Wasim Khan for imposing Misbah on us and by extension acha bacha Azhar.

If no action is taken immediately, be prepared for years of incompetence and buddy buddy selections.

#8 Here we come.

Azhar and Misbah combo were the first captains since I think the 1980s to go NZ and lose a series. They each captained a test.

Now this pathetic combo will be the first ones to lose a series in England in 10 years IIRC.

Domestic cricket reforms and restructuring of NCA was long overdue. Those were correct moves.

However Wasim and Mani have a lot to explain for in appointed a coach in Misbah who never even coached a club side, let alone in international cricket.

That decision, along with the appointment of non-performing and ageing Azhar Ali as Test captain, has undone a lot of their good work.

Not the forget the recent appointment of the old boys club as "high performance coaches". Either Wasim Khan is seriously incompetent or proper naive and is being taken for a ride by the babus. He is absolutely useless and should go back to England where people won't be duped by his British accent.

Well we are told by many here that previous coaching experience is not necessary etc.

Not sure how they will explain these results.

Lol, he resigned because the PCB did not accept his plea for included departmental cricket in the domestic structure. Another dinosaur gone, no worries.

Another one (Iqbal Qasim) bites the dust.

Get some people in with fresh ideas and energy, not the likes of Basit Ali.

So another post opened up for Misbah to forcibly take?

This Cricket Committee is a waste of time and should be abolished. How often does it even meet ? Everyone knows Mani and Wasim are the decision makers, so let them be held accountable.

This is the corporate norm. Every 6 months or a year you go through an appraisal and based on that you are either retained, demoted, promoted, transferred or moved on

This is the corporate norm. Every 6 months or a year you go through an appraisal and based on that you are either retained, demoted, promoted, transferred or moved on

Of course it is, but it hasn't been the case in the PCB.

There were so many freeloaders, so many people earning a living by doing nothing and no appraisal process. Many have been shown the door, but some are still hanging around.

This is systemic across Pakistani state institutions.. PIA is no different, but in this case it’s great to see that changes are being made and it is possible to change the culture in such a rotten institution. WK should rightly be praised for these changes as I’m not sure everyone understands how difficult it is to install cultural change within an organization.

Lol which is why you see many of the ex PCB officials, ex players and media officials go after WK.

Four new independent members appointed to PCB’s BoG

LAHORE-The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) appointed four new independent members to the Board of Governors (BoG) during the 59th BoG meeting held here at the National High Performance Centre on Monday.

The BoG, in accordance with PCB Constitution 2019 Clause 12(1)(c), unanimously approved the appointment of Javed Kurieshi, Arif Saeed, Aasim Wajid Jawad and Alia Zafar. Two of the new members - Javed Kurieshi and Arif Saeed - have been appointed to the BoG for a three-year period while Aasim Wajid Jawad and Alia Zafar have been appointed for a two-year period. Following the appointment of the four independent members, the new BoG has been formed. The remaining three members on the BoG will be appointed following completion of the election process at the Cricket Association level.

Speaking on the occasion, PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani said: “I want to congratulate and thank all the respected outgoing BoG members for their outstanding contributions to Pakistan cricket. Following promulgation of the new PCB Constitution in 2019, these distinguished members, on my request, had agreed to continue through the transitional period and provide the PCB management appropriate guidance through their knowledge and insight.

“The fact that these BoG members unanimously approved the appointment of the independent members, which now changes the outlook and composition of the BoG, illustrates their respect for the PCB Constitution 2019 and Pakistan cricket at heart. “However, the PCB will continue to benefit from their experience and understanding, by including them as members on the Cricket Associations’ interim executive committees (IECs), which will be confirmed shortly. The first and the most critical assignment of the IECs will be to supervise the registration of clubs so that cricketing activities can resume at the grassroots level.

“I welcome the newly-appointed independent members to the BoG, especially Alia Zafar, the first female independent member, which is a giant step forward in enhancing the PCB’s governance structure. “The four new members bring with them a wealth of diverse knowledge that will only improve the professional outlook and working of the PCB. These four individuals are highly respected and proven performers in their respective professional lives and we aim to benefit from their knowledge in our efforts to improve our governance,” Mani added.

Thank god fresh faces have been brought onto the Governing Board.

I see some of them are finance and corporate executives.

PCB CEO Wasim Khan at a press conference today:

MCC is touring Pakistan in February, we have spoken to them over the last 2-3 months. They are coming to Pakistan after 50 years, it will be a tour of Lahore. Sangakkara will captain the team. It's a major coup for us that a high-profile team will come. We will announce their itinerary and squad in January, 2020.

The whole nation is uniting for cricket, you'll have differences and opinion about PCB but we're all united on bringing cricket back to Pakistan.

We've been speaking to South Africa about playing 3 T20Is in Pakistan towards the end of March. The Board have signed off on it, we're waiting for the South Africa players to confirm they are happy. They have had some leadership changes but insha'Allah we'll have good news for that in the next few weeks.

We will have the PSL at 4 venues in Pakistan: Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi. The venues will be ready, and we'll be ready to take on the challenge.

I am very happy with some of the things we achieved in Australia. Australia will come to play in Pakistan in 2022 which was a part of the FTP. They were due to play 2 Test matches and 3 T20Is, we've agreed that they will play 3 Test matches. It's important we play more Test cricket so there will be 3 Tests. We've agreed in principle that the Test series between 2023 and 2031 will all consist of 3 Test matches, and we will play more often. We play them every 3-4 years, but our wish is to play against them more often on a home and away basis.

The Pakistan A team will be called ‘The Shaheens’ moving forward. The other thing I discussed with Cricket Australia is about A tours. We are looking at an arrangement where our team plays in Australia and they come here and play. Before 2022, we're hoping they will send an A team to Pakistan. I'm looking at a 4 year cycle for A tours with Australia, England, South Africa and New Zealand. We go to Bangladesh and Sri Lanka but we don't play the other big nations as much. We need to get our players ready for conditions that they face across the world and we need to expose our guys to conditions in those countries.

I've spoken to NSW about a scholarship programme to get some of our best boys and girls an opportunity to go training and play club cricket in Sydney, practice and go to the High-Performance Centre. I visited the Brisbane HP Centre and that's something that we should be aiming to emulate, that should be our vision and goal of what a HP Centre should look like.

We planned and implemented a new domestic structure in 7 months. We had visits by the CA, ECB, Cricket Ireland as well. All this happens because of relationships. We're now as Pakistan cricket, are building our credibility around the world. People don't just come and agree to things, you have to have dialogues, discussions and debates to make things happen.

We will increase the number of domestic games we live stream. We will look at improving wickets. We have Andy Atkinson of the ICC coming on January 3rd, he will assess our wickets and run workshops for the groundsmen and help us develop that. He will keep visiting over the next 6-8 months to help us develop our wickets.

We have spent 3.6 billion rupees on our domestic structure over the past 3 years, but we can't sustain that over a long period of time. We're in conversations with sponsors and in the next 3 months, we will be announcing sponsors for the cricket associations which will allow us to spend some of that money elsewhere. We have plans for developing the NCA and these are the things we have to be investing in, the grassroots, schools and club cricket. The money we save from spending in the domestic structure, part of it can go towards the grassroots.

I stepped down as the Chairman of the Cricket Committee. Despite a lot of frantic calls from people, I hadn't resigned as the CEO which some people thought. It was always intended when Mohsin Khan stepped down that I would do it on an interim basis. It's not ideal if your CEO is also your Cricket Committee Chairman. I will, however, remain on the Committee and it remains an advisory committee to the board. We're looking at 2-3 members to be part of this including a new, independent chairman and an ex-cricketer. We want to revamp the committee and have the next meeting before the Bangladesh series and plan a calendar year where we meet 4 times. Wasim Akram will stay on the committee, Urooj Mumtaz will also remain as the Women's representative. We will be looking at other reps. Currently, we have too many people from PCB there so that will change and it will be ready for January.

The Test team is based on the Head Coach's vision. Sarfaraz had significant contributions and we haven't seen the last of him, he's a good man and he's gotten fit and he will perform and knock on the door again. Azhar has just started as captain. It was a tough initiation in Australia, we've seen what's happening to New Zealand now. It's a hard place to tour. I have no doubt that his performances will pick up. To say this is make or break for him is a bit premature.

We can't do anything about India right now, we will keep dialogue options open with BCCI. Ultimately, they need permission from the government, so our focus is on teams we can play but we never lose hope, we hope one day we'll play India again whether it's at a neutral venue or Pakistan but at the moment it's out of our control.

I'm very aware of the politics in Pakistan cricket. I'm here because of Pakistan cricket and I've come here to contribute to Pakistan cricket. We've managed to get things done.

I can't speak too much about investigations at NCA. What was going to happen first was a suspension followed by an investigation but he (Ali Zia) decided to resign. That doesn't mean the investigation won't happen.

Regarding Mudassar Nazar, when I joined PCB, he made it clear he probably wanted to do 1 more year. With what's happened with Ali Zia, I think Mudassar wanted to make his position clear because it takes time to find replacements. He wanted to make sure there was no speculation about his position so he announced it 6 months in advance.

We will have an update about the PSL Executive in the next few days.

Our relationship with the PSL franchise owners is a positive one, we don't agree on everything but that's part and parcel of it. We're pretty much there in terms of the fees, we're still waiting for 1-2 outstanding payments to reveal the revenue shares for the PSL owners but we're nearly there. The process is something we need to learn from, we need to be better and quicker. This year hasn't been acceptable, we've been too slow to provide details around revenue shares etc., they are big investors in the game in Pakistan and we're thankful and respect them. Both sides need to be better.

We haven't had a psychologist with our team recently. It's about pressure, one thing that has always been said about our team is that once the pressure starts, we can't cope. We have talented cricketers but in any modern sport, you need support, you need a psychologist and we're talking about that and we will bring someone in.

We are developing HPCs for the Cricket Associations. They will have psychologists working with players coming through, the A tours, U19s, U16s. The days or not having psychologists, thinking that talent alone is enough, those days are gone.

Our 6 CA head coaches work closely with Nadeem Khan who is a selection coordinator. He is working closely with Misbah as well and now majority of the burden sits with him, he provides information to Misbah.

Wasim Akram won't be Chairman of the Cricket Committee.

We have spoken to Australia already and we are in talks with England, NZ and SA regarding exchange programmes, it's important for us to give young players exposure. I have spoken to Leicestershire and a couple of other counties regarding pre-season training. Our facilities at NCA are good, this will happen slowly slowly. The MCC tour will bring a lot of credibility to Pakistan. After that, we are hopeful that counties and teams from other countries will come. We are taking small steps, you can't do it all at once.

The new structure will take time to have effect, one year won't change things. Our previous structure was there for many years and it failed. We are ranked 8/6 in Tests/ODIs. This has happened over a period of time. We are moving in the right direction now.

There comes a time for people to move on. The PCB has fresh ideas and there will be changes, more changes going forward.

Nothing has been proven against Wasim Akram, he remains a legend of the game in Pakistan as does Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Waqar Younis, etc. These guys are icons, you go to any country and people talk about them and what they have achieved. I think we should continue to respect them.

Azhar Ali has been captain for 2-3 months, is it fair to judge him on that time period? Give him time as you want to give time to the coaches, as I wanted time when I came into this position. You need time to do something.

Misbah's decisions in terms of selection are up to him. Accountability is with one person, give him time and then judge him.

Regarding the T20 performances, it's not good enough. It's not acceptable that we're losing matches. Australia was a tough tour, but we lost both matches by an innings. We're not blind to all of this, we're looking at these things. Let him operate for a year and we'll see where we after that.

We are in talks with departments regarding keeping a competition going between them. We will find a window for it for maybe 2-3 weeks where they can play a department competition, for example. The departments have been positive about supporting and sponsoring cricket. A number of them will be involved moving forward. In 2-3 months, we'll be in a position to announce that.

We are in correspondence with Bangladesh. They are happy to play T20Is in Pakistan but are reluctant to play 2 Tests in Pakistan. I've written to BCB and I've been very strong in my response and asked them for the reason why. ICC have signed off on our security plans. Sri Lanka will complete 2 Test matches safely here; all security provisions are in place. We have asked BCB why they don't want to come. The matter is not finished and it doesn't mean they won't come. They are talking about playing T20Is but for us, playing Test cricket in another country isn't an option now.

If politics were weighing me down, I would have gone back to the UK 5 months ago. For me, it doesn't matter, I'm focused on my work. I've come here because I want to help Pakistan cricket. I won't get everything right, I'll take it on the chin and move forward.

Our NOC policy is a little confusing and we are reviewing it and we will get it right. We need to give players the opportunity to go and play abroad, the experience will benefit Pakistan cricket. Particularly now, when the domestic cricket isn't being played for a period of time.

One of our players was approached at the Qatar T10, he informed the authorities and informed us. That information has been passed on to the ICC. This is what we teach players in our education programmes, as soon as you're approached, you let somebody know. There have been incidents in the past 7-8 months where approaches have been made and players have told the authorities and we have escalated it and handed it over to ICC.

7-8 months ago, England told us that the women's team won't come to Pakistan. We have made a lot of progress since then, but they had already announced that previously.

For the Abu Dhabi T10, the organiser emailed us and asked for permission, but we said our players won't be available. But they went through agents, through players directly so we reluctantly issued conditional NOCs, but we decided to hold camps, etc. and some of the players went to Australia so we called these guys back. With the Qatar T10, there is no domestic cricket now, so the players are free to go. But we need to have clarity about the NOCs, that's something we will work on over the next couple of weeks.

Younis Khan is a legend of the game, I have a good relationship with him. In terms of him not coming for the Karachi Test (refusing invitation), that's his wish. Whatever grievances he has with the PCB are his personal thing. On the other side, we have the Wasim Akrams of the world who work with us but, there are some who are not working with us and they won't be happy about this. It's upsetting and disappointing that there's so many ex-players who have a history with PCB and haven't had good experiences. I need to mend these relationships. Younis Khan is a good friend and he's a good human being and we need such people involved in Pakistan cricket.

Misbah has a 3 year contract but every staff member of the PCB has an appraisal of their work after 1 year. That applies to me as well and it will apply to Misbah too. We have to give him time, but it's about results at the end of the day and he will also be judged on results. We're backing him, he's our Head Coach and we still believe he's the right man for the job.

We will retrain some of the NCA coaches. To create high performance, you need high performance coaches. At the moment, there's some very good coaches and some not very good coaches working in the system.

With Mudassar Nazar leaving and Ali Zia having departed, it's a chance for us to revamp the NCA so that we can start moving in a different direction.

Natural talent continues to come through but it's not enough in professional sport. We are creating a system to support them and allow them to be the best that they can be. It will take time.

We are trying to get players involved with county cricket. We want to send players early to England again. Babar will potentially play for Somerset; Abbas will go to Nottinghamshire. We're trying to get 1 or 2 of the batters, we're speaking to counties. That will help them get practice, the conditions will be different from Australia. We need to plan properly as it will be a difficult series.

We have correspondence with UAE, we have history with them and we've worked with them. They have been good to us for a long period of time. I think everything is fine now and hopefully it won't affect the relationship going forward.

Anti-Corruption issues don't help our credibility, particularly when we're playing against top international teams. They've said in the past, why should we play you? When we don't know if it's a real game or not. We are working hard, we have a good anti-corruption team and we are working closely with the ICC. We will have zero tolerance on this matter moving forward.

Has the time come yet to move from you, Mani, Misbah and Waqar?

Best administrator we've had in decades.

Despite the vitriol spewing from PP's resident Najam Sethi PR agent, we are finally seeing meaningful reform and relationship building.

Domestic cricket revamped producing the best FC season in decades.
Quality of pitches and balls improving.
PCB old guard and corrupt officials thrown out.
NCA overhauled.
Introduction of a proper coaching programme to build local capacity.
Groundbreaking domestic TV rights deal.
Partnerships with quality overseas broadcasters Supersport and now Sky.

Still needs to revive grassroots cricket, and of course fix his mistake from 2019 which was hiring Misbah and Waqar. However these are a fantastic set of results.

Well lol, he may have been pressurized into hiring Misbah by the higher powers above but unlike Shameless Ijaz Butt, Zaka Ashraf, Najam Sethi, Shahryar Khan he is not going to tolerate Misbah ul Haq's mediocrity defensive cricket to go on for eternity with no checks and balances, he has already given Misbah enough nudges to resign but Misbah being the shameless leech that he is will cling on and stay even though he has been blatantly told that he is not wanted.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has once again begun the process of removing low-level employees from their payroll. The first stage saw the removal of five employees whose contracts were not extended and were sent home.

The employees whose contracts were not renewed on March 31 occupied the posts of storekeeper, ground men and plumber.

Two individuals, who were recently dismissed, hailed from Lahore while the rest hailed from other cities.

According to sources, there are plans to remove more individuals from the PCB’s payroll. Last year in May and June, the PCB had dismissed 55 employees however after facing stiff criticism from the media, this decision was taken back on June 4.
